Yes, I talked to one of the managers, and they're really strict on the sell by date. But I checked today and they're still not displayed. The have a lot series 14 monster figures left.

It's not a plastic-saving attempt, its a molding consideration. If the leg were solid on all sides, it'd be impossible to make it hollow in the center, meaning the walls would be too thick for it to cool properly. At least one side of any leg piece HAS to be hollow. On regular minifigure legs, it's the bottom, but on the peg leg and the new satyr legs, it's impossible to make a hole in the bottom run all the way through to the "joint".

I´m glad, that the Satyr is now officially called "Faun".

Even if many say, that Fauns and Satyrs were the same, I don´t think so.

Classical Satyrs in greek mythology were usually shown with parts of other animals (and other characteristics, that won´t be very good on a kid´s toy...).

In greek mythology the god Pan is the one, who is described with goat legs, even in the tales about his birth.

Otherwise, the roman counterpart of Pan is Faunus, who is also usually shown with goat legs and horns.

So I think, "Faun" fits better to that Minifig than "Satyr".

This is how I feel about leg prints that either don't match up colour wise, or don't let you move the legs without looking terrible ... Yet most people here seem keen on leg printing.

Well explained, makes perfect sense, I can totally live with that hole, it is there for a purpose, end of.

Ugh that hole sucks. Glad we finally got official names. No descriptions yet? The more I look at the faun the more i say it needs fur printing on his arms. Too much yellow showing. It's a favorite of mine though.
