OOC: Could we have a full party stat update before anything big happens?

Matthias confused as can be, tumbles into the room, falling flat. He comes up grabbing for his handcannon until he realizes it's just Hybros, Guffington, and the others. "What's going on?!"

"Do you have the other two artifacts? We are starting this now." Hybros says bluntly. "I do not think we have much time."

"Ready as I can be." Guffington smiles. "Are we going, then? Should we not collect all of our disparate crew?"

"There are some final steps and safeguards I will have to take you all through."

Hybros continued to eye Guffington with uncertainty. He had known since the start of the quest that his old friend and employer would die, but only now did it seem so real. "Very well then. I will retrieve the other heroes."

Hybros is gone for a moment, or perhaps many moments, to inform Hoke, Guts and Purpearl of the situation before reappearing, his dark leathery skin somehow taking a greenish appearance. "How my people ever got used to the Void is beyond me... I would not wish it upon many."

As soon as he arrives, Arthur sighs.

"I hope you know what you're doing, Hybros. You've panicked Piglina something fierce, and now she's gone and soured things with Bombast." Arthur looks to Matthias. "Just to check, you saw the way Bombast was looking at the Anvil, right Matthias? I didn't just imagine that?"

"I was simply doing my job. I had no way of knowing Piglina would the news so poorly."

The gnome nods thoughtfully.

Arthur winks at Matthias. "Two kingdoms," is all he says.

"No, Master Arthur. Two people, driven only by ambition, without a king to lead them."

"Hybros has the Dragon's Heart Flame, and he and I both carry the First Breath."

"No, Master Arthur. Two people, driven only by ambition, without a king to lead them."

... it's not as though I haven't seen bad kings. But even the kings in Baltarok all loved their lands and their people. The entire war was started because one of them went missing, and without his guidance, his son fell prey to outside influences. Do you not, in your heart, long for a king? Perhaps not; perhaps the problem in Eubric is that no one is truly of Uland anymore; no one has the very bedrock in their bones and there is no unified people to love. That, my friend, is a tragedy, and the cause of all the infighting and corruption. Not a king."

OOC: I just want to confirm that we'll still have the chance to complete our side-missions (specifically gem-forging) even after we all convene in the Council room with Hybros and Matthias, correct? Also on the subject of gem-forging, do the battles grant experience, or is the gem the only reward?

As soon as he arrives, Arthur sighs.

"I hope you know what you're doing, Hybros. You've panicked Piglina something fierce, and now she's gone and soured things with Bombast." Arthur looks to Matthias. "Just to check, you saw the way Bombast was looking at the Anvil, right Matthias? I didn't just imagine that?"

Miirym looks to Doc Daneeka. "<Arthur was discussing safety precautions in an attempt to calm the Councilors down. Bombast left before any actual agreement could be made, but out of respect I think we should exercise caution to ensure our experiment will not harm Etheria. What precautions will we be taking?>"

OoC: I don't know. What do people think? Should they count as experience? I imagine they should, but on the other hand the gems are pretty massive compensation. As I said, you can complete the side quests now or later. You will not be ejected from Etheria after the "quest" concludes. I just think some people are losing interest, and it doesn't seem fair to hold them here while everyone does side quests.

"Essentially, in opening a entrance to the world of lost souls, we are potentially allowing something else to come back instead of Passion. For this reason, you will have to guard Guffington's body, so that something else does not possess it, as well as track down Passion. And if we have troubles on this end, which it sounds like we will, we will also have to protect his body on the material plane. That's three teams of heroes."

Splitting the party again, huh? That always ends well.

It seems clear we should divide our heavy hitters and tanks evenly. Might I suggest something as to the following:

He stepped over to Guffington with a bit of sadness in his eyes, mixed with determination. "If there is no time say it later, I wish to say it now. You have been a good friend, and your legacy in Eubric will not be forgotten. And I will not forget all that you have taught me. Your dreams that we pulled you from, all that time ago. You were a young man back then in that world, and I was much less experienced myself. But you taught me that one must really see the world before condemning it. It was... backwards for me. I came into this world with a purpose, eager to find my people, and back then, to avenge them. But I realize now that it was that purpose that allowed me to see the world, and once I accomplished that goal there was still more to do. That is what the journey taught me. And our own trips to Dastan, Xu, and now here... I have learned much. There is still more to do."

With an outstretched hand, "Thank you."

"Perhaps you are right that it is all based on experience. Mine simply tells me that a true king is far better than the petty backbiting and selfish ambition which propels Eubric. "If one is alone in the forest, it is better to find two direwolves fighting each other than cooperating to hunt you. Selfish ambition may not be the most noble motivation, but it is at least predictable. And generally 'predictable' is more survivable than the alternative, for everyone involved."

I've been meaning to help Zepher with these rounds, but because of what delayed 147, I've been stuck on mobile. Finally found a computer to use, so hopefully I'll still be able to help every so often.

"Amarcolm," Arthur says simply as he arrives, "it's time." Arthur gives Amarcolm 1 gold. "Melquiades, please take me back to Dyric and the others."

"Great." Amarcolm takes the gold. "Let's see where I fall in all of this."

He flips the coin and looks at Arthur as it flies through the air.

"Call it."

Melquiades warps into the room as Arthur watches the coin.

Meanwhile, elsewhere, Melquiades warps the entire party, excluding Hoke and Arthur, into a plain and empty room. At it's center is an archway, and beyond that the Font - however, where most views of the Font on the island appear as a window, this one appears doorway.

"I apologize, heroes." The Mother turns her attention back to them. "I know you have no love for my brother, and can more than understand the sentiment. Be that as it may, I felt he had a right to know what Chauncey wished to accomplish."

"He's my brother too. And if anyone is responsible for this whole damned mess, it's me. I didn't think Wren would be able to pull off what she did." He wags his finger accusingly at Dyric. "I was backing the Court of Demons. They didn't have any wild designs to possess and kill my brother. He shouldn't have been involved at all. Should have let the crazies duke it out. But you heroes dragged him in."

"Surprising from you." She turns to the heroes. "I cannot vouch for his past, but he does legitimately want to bring Passion back. As I said, it would be unethical for me to take an active role in proceedings, even if only to honor my own word. But that does not me we can't support you in your effort. Please, go with my blessing."

Each hero may use the blessing of Hope and Regret once in the upcoming battle. This will replace your whole turn (regardless of hastened/dancing/duelstrike etc.)

Hope's Blessing - Instead of taking action, the hero may use Hope's blessing on another hero. That hero's next roll will be a shield.

Regret's Blessing - Can be used to target a KO'd hero. Said KO'd hero is revived with one health, but their next roll will be a shield.
