But this has been such a good year that I can’t even say that. Yeah agreed, he’s been featured prominently in one of the trailers and everyone with a pulse knows how popular Cyclops is. I’d be surprised if he isn’t in one of the other sets. Shame he’s not in the Sentinel set though, only because the display-oriented nature of the Epic Moments sets means we’ll miss out on a sick build of Cyclops unleashing his optic blasts. Yeah, they've been doing really well recently. Unfortunately it seems we're now down to one option, being the New Avengers Tower. And at this point I'm worried that we won't even get the full Thunderbolts lineup in that one. That would be really cool looking, though tricky to pull off. Right now I just have my cyclops holding a lightsaber blade up to his eyes so it looks like he's touching the dial on the visor and firing- getting that sort of no-hands, wide-range blast would be tricky without just having it attach to a back neck bracket or terrain, which might look a bit janky from angles besides the intended one. 3 hours ago, Scarilian said: 76348: looks like Quinjet is back on the menu boys (SPOILER CHARACTER) via Unibricks Reveal hidden contents 76348: The Dark Avengers Quinjet Pieces: 846 Includes: Hydra Captain America (Hopefully other figures also?) $99.99 WHAT. It doesn't NECCESARILY mean it's a doomsday set, but if it is, that's MASSIVE spoilers. Probably would be the biggest spoiler lego's ever done, I can't believe marvel would even have told them about that. Most of the more concrete leaks have been claiming Spoiler Doom has a sort of council or inner circle of similarly cloaked and masked figures that don't play much of a role in the film and aren't revealed until the end to be alternate universe avengers. Which lines up with one of the sets we know is coming later, but not the set that just leaked at all. 2 hours ago, BrickBob Studpants said: Huh. I’ve been avoiding Doomsday spoilers so far, so I didn’t expect *this* to show up, much less in a LEGO set! That must mean it’ll be featured in the marketing to some degree. Yeah I don't think any credible leaks have mentioned that at all. Part of me thinks it won't actually be a doomsday set given the (IIRC) different release date. I can't believe marvel would give lego concept art of something like that and we wouldn't have seen it in the leaks at all- though it'll be interesting to see which leakers immediately "leak" this info for the movie. (My favorite one of those being that after that Australian theatre chain did some marketing around their Vmax system in spider-man trailers and one leaker evidently misunderstood the trailers and immediately started "leaking" a bunch of info about the role Vmax plays in the movie.) All that to say, I am really, really hoping this is a mistake from someone seeing a black-and-red cap suit and thinking "evil cap", and it's really a confirmation that we're getting John Walker, helmet and all. This just seems like a crazy thing for marvel to have told lego about if true, and "the new avengers have a quinjet" is a much more reasonable piece of info for them to give lego- or for lego to just make up to add a build to a set. I think people who believe the leaker confused Hydra Cap and US Agent are those who think Hydra Cap’s costume is black and red, when that’s just a fan art Spoiler The thrust of that argument is that the lego leaker is someone unfamiliar with the MCU- and someone who wouldn't know what Hydra Cap actually looks like- and therefore upon seeing a black and red captain america just goes "oh, evil cap -> hydra cap". The idea floated by people including the one legoleaks mod, who if I remember right does typically have some more info than what's actually posted, is that the leaker is someone unfamiliar with the less popular parts of marvel, saw a black and red cap, and just assumed that was the "evil" color scheme. Does that make an assumption? Yes. But I think it's more likely than marvel producing a set for something that would be a massive spoiler for the movie, wasn't in any of the leaked concept art, and doesn't appear to be coming from any other merch companies. My guess is lego's sets will align more with what we've seen in the trailers so far and what was in that giant costume leak, as the former would imply they're comfortable sharing pictures of those scenes/characters and the latter always seemed like a costume package that was meant to be sent to companies like lego for merch. 4 hours ago, BrickBob Studpants said: Going from having to make things up for Endgame to spoiling a plot point for Doomsday that nobody had on their radar is hilarious. Although I just read something about him taking a step back from Hollywood, so maybe that's not possible anymore.) I thought the rest of the cast were too juvenile in talent. I've never seen the original X-Trilogy, and honestly I'm a bit unsure about ever seeing them. I did work my way through the four X-Recasts; didn't like First Class, absolutely loved Days of Future Past, hated Apocalypse, and thought Dark Phoenix was pretty decent but incomplete. (Two hot takes sandwiching two cold ones, lol.) All I'd want to see from LEGO FoX-Men is a set of the DoFP Sentinel with Magneto and Hugh Jackman. Given the recent rumor, though, it seems I've spoken too late. I love the concept of the Sentinel set! I can't imagine the sentinel itself will be sizeable, given the extra builds said to be included. Perhaps it'll be akin to the X-Mansion build, just with a muted colour palette? As for the minifigs, I expect Doom will be roughly the same as the Bust since the costs are shared there. Mr. Fantastic will have a new torso, likely no leg printing. Magneto doesn't need leg printing from the leaks I've seen, and the mold for his helmet is there if Erik even uses it in the movie. Likewise Thor won't need leg prints (and even if he did, we know he won't). Mystique's design might call for leg prints, given the blue on her collarbone and sides would need balancing out, and hair-wise I could see the live action Bo-Katan piece being reused. No clue about Nightcrawler—I think I saw a design with plain black trousers, but maybe not. They might use the Dreamzzz hair for him given how much volume it seems to have. More than anything, I'm glad that TLG seems to have taken the complaint with Galactus's price and, while choosing to not lower it, have decided to package more characters (that aren't exclusively reprints) into the set and even gone as far as to build out the scene for them. JeanGreyForever Posted July 7 Posted July 7 In discussion about the leaked character Spoiler One thing to kind in mind is that Endgame leaks also claimed Hydra Cap was in the movie. And I think Marvel knows Hydra Cap is popular so I can see them doubling down on it in a movie dedicated to fanservice. 23 hours ago, Swordy said: I hope that's because they plan to bring back Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy as Erik and Charles in the soft-reboot post-Secret Wars. No clue about Nightcrawler—I think I saw a design with plain black trousers, but maybe not. They might use the Dreamzzz hair for him given how much volume it seems to have. I think we're getting a full reboot of the X-Men cast, although there are some alleged leaks that Hugh Jackman will be the only one sticking around as Wolverine and won't be recast. I don't see Fassbender and McAvoy coming back because while they were the two most popular parts of the rebooted cast, they never stuck around into the public consciousness the way Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart did. Plus Feige had no involvement with the First Class reboot so I don't see him having any interest in bringing anything from those movies back. The Evan Peters appearance in WandaVision was likely it and even that turned out to be a red herring. Your views on the 4 reboot movies are pretty close to what general audiences think, outside of you liking Dark Phoenix. If out of those 4 movies, the only one you really enjoyed was DOFP, then I do think you'd like the original X-Men trilogy if you ever watched them. DOFP is closest in tone to those movies (particularly X2: X-Men United). Since it seems like you liked Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, he's the lead in all those trilogy movies just like he's the lead of DOFP. I don't think it's a coincidence that the rest of the X-Men reboot movies struggled without him. Also for Doomsday, it would be worth watching the trilogy just to get to know those characters beforehand. The ending of DOFP will also hit harder when you've spent more time with the original cast and get to see them get their happy ending (before Doomsday probably destroys that lol). I don't know if you've heard of the Rogue cut, but it's a DOFP extended edition featuring scenes with Rogue from the original trilogy. She's a major character there, particularly in her connection to Wolverine, so if you ever watch the original trilogy, I'd recommend following it up with The Wolverine (2013) as it's a direct sequel to the trilogy (features Wolverine's grief over Jean Grey's death and then sets up the return of Magneto and Professor X to deal with the Sentinel threat in DOFP), and then watching DOFP: The Rogue Cut. All those extended scenes are set in the future timeline with the original cast so you'd find them of more interest once you became familiar with the original cast. For the Sentinel set, there are leaks that show what it looks like in Doomsday. The MCU generally uses a more muted color palette like you said, so that's also my guess that it won't directly match the Sentinel we got in the X-Mansion set. The leaks corroborate this but the footage was also somewhat grainy so it's hard to tell. But it wasn't the bright color palette from the comics/X-Mansion set. Nightcrawler seems to have Spoiler white hair in Doomsday, for whatever reason. So for the people wondering if he'll be able to match up with the X-Mansion set minifigs, he's going to look completely different. His suit might be more comic accurate in comparison to his X2 look, but it's still very far off from the aesthetics of the comics. In the movies, Nightcrawler also had carvings in his face and body whereas he's got no such facial marks in the comics and he's supposed to furry there. Mystique, similarly, does not have scales in the comics. Quote

I don't believe magneto uses the helmet, I imagine it's in part a symbolic thing because he no longer has to block his mind from Professor X. Extremely good news there- I would hesitate to compare the build to galactus given the sentinal is likely much, much smaller, but the number of figures in a $60 set is wonderful to see. I really, really hope we're getting a new avengers quinjet if for no other reason than that leak would have to confirm helmeted John Walker as opposed to that stupid beret. It would also vastly increase our odds of getting the full team of bolts. Plus it'll be nice to see what their quinjet looks like- I've got an absurd amount of lore built up for them since until very recently it seemed like a second movie was out of the question, and it would be nice to add a definitive quinjet layout to that lore. 2 hours ago, JeanGreyForever said: In discussion about the leaked character Hide contents One thing to kind in mind is that Endgame leaks also claimed Hydra Cap was in the movie. I've always found it interesting how the helmet thing was popularized by the movies. In the classic (pre-movie) comics, he had telepathic immunity because of his own force of will and strong mind. Strong enough that he could astral project and converse with Xavier on the astral plane in the first few issues of the X-Men from the 60s. The helmet was just purely sartorial, it had no telepathic immunity. Juggernaut had a helmet with telepathic immunity, but that wasn't true for Magneto. The movies decided to invent this idea since it was more streamlined and it became so popularized that it became the norm and set the standard for the comics and all other multimedia. Even rewatching X-Men '97, a show based on the pre-movies 90s TV show and comics, where Magneto's immunity was based on his own natural abilities rather than helmet, I noticed that '97 claimed his helmet was capable of blocking out Xavier's telepathy. It really goes to show how that's taken over. Mystique still has scales on her face so they would probably pop up there on her head, even if her body is mostly covered. For Nightcrawler, I've always felt Lego should just throw a comic accurate minifigure of him into a Spider-Man set. When Nightcrawler debuted, he had a lot of similar characteristics to Spider-Man since they both could wall-crawl and Nightcrawler also used the "amazing" adjective to be described as. Plus a few years back, Nightcrawler briefly took on the Spider-Man mantle and costume. After Wolverine and Iceman (purely for the Amazing Friends show rather than anything in the comics), Nightcrawler would be the easiest X-Man to shoehorn into a Spider-Man set. Although it's funny because it looks like a certain spoiler character will follow Wolverine in probably being included in a Spider-Man set before any other X-Man. Quote

Marvel, WHY? (Likely the same reason Spoiler Steve is in a t-shirt here and using mjolnir instead of a shield) - they're still trying to push Falcon Cap as THE captain america, instead of doing what the comics did and just letting there be multiple. That specific thing I mentioned in the spoiler is also something I think fits this movie and phase of the MCU a lot- it's a half-measure, halfheartedly trying to both stick with their initial post-endgame attempts while also bringing in older, more well-liked characters and stories, but not committing to either path. As for the other designs, Spoiler The F4 look goofy here. If they wanted radically different doomsday suits, they should have gone with some of the more tactical designs from the comics or Rivals. Or hey, if you really want to make them pop, do the Red F4. Would also have helped sell the darkness/urgency/"time runs out" of it, like they're in a code red situation. The random smattering of characters that comprise the (non-new) avengers is also brutal. You've got thor, who's in serious need of cinematic redemption, though I'll admit probably the best costume here. You've got Steve Rogers in a t-shirt. You've got Falcon Cap, who's really struggled, and falcon ll, who's nothing. Ant-Man is in a similar spot as Thor, just with the fact that he was never remotely as popular. Shang-Chi, who I liked but isn't a draw for anyone, and then Shuri/M'baku, who at the end of the day are also not a draw for anyone without T'Challa. They're hedging their bets heavily- maybe people will come for the shells of Steve and Thor, maybe they'll come because they're nostalgic about the X-men, or they were one of the few who really liked the MCU's F4 or watched Thunderbolts (of which I am the latter's biggest fan). But like I said, it's a bunch of half-measures. Nobody's coming for the story built up over the past 7 years because there wasn't one. Quote

I feel like they have army building potential also and are applicable for conflict with Daredevil who they have already given us a comic-inspired version of with the 76178. Does anyone think that Daredevil is precisely the reason we're not getting any Hand ninjas? That they're too linked to him and since Lego doesn't want to feature anything with Daredevil, as he's considered too mature, that means that by extension, the Hand ninjas are also off-limits? As of now, it's remarkable how many pivotal characters from BND won't be in any Lego set between Sadie Sink, Punisher, and the Hand ninjas. Quote

Reveal hidden contents Steve is in a t-shirt here and using mjolnir instead of a shield) - they're still trying to push Falcon Cap as THE captain america, instead of doing what the comics did and just letting there be multiple. At this point, I kinda root for him to have the beret in the sets just to see your epic meltdown Quote
Kaijumeister Posted July 13 Author Posted July 13 As much as I’m trying to maintain fairly grounded expectations, I really can’t wait to see the Doomsday wave. Lego Marvel’s output this year has been an astonishing improvement compared to previous years and I hope the Doomsday wave cap off the year on a high note. The Doom minifigure already makes me feel pretty hyped, they spared no expense with him. Quote

spiderfan2000 Posted July 13 Posted July 13 If there ends up being more BND sets in the future, I'd hope Ramrod turns up somewhere. Quote

I can suck it up, buy the venom cap helmet and take some nail polish remover to it. This is all on marvel for ruining one of the few good phase 4 designs they've adapted. But don't worry, I will absolutely make a post hyperbolically melting down over the minifigure's headpiece if it ends up being a beret, or hyping up lego if it's a helmet. As much as I'm fighting my hype and lowering my expectations for the movie, I'm freely letting myself be hyped for the sets. The one set we have the full figure list for is one where the literal only character from it I already own is Thor. Even without the Thunderbolts or other characters I'm hoping for like Gambit/Cyclops/Doom's Cabal/(spoiler characters we won't get this wave), I'm still 100% buying at least one set, which is a big improvement from... any set tying in with a new release since NWH. And come on. Two nice big chances to get the Thunderbolts. One of the two has to pan out. Edited July 14 by Mandalorianknight Quote
