A team of astronauts explore several planets to find new/unknown ores. The astronauts discovered a new planet, ‘’OSWION’’.

They build a space station, which contains a Intergalactic Communications Tower, Planetary Observation Centre, a power plant, a research and observation compound, Landing platforms for spaceships.

The astronuts build a monorail to transport the containers easily.

The astronauts use their vehicles to explore the planet and dig ores and energy crystals.

The space ships and vehicles are modular, you can easy rebuild them by swapping and combining the components. Every mission need it’s own vehicle.

Some buildings, like the power plant and Intergalactic Communications Tower, are motorized by Power Functions.

At the left side of the layout, a large portal is build to enter planet OSWION. The light in the protal is EL wire.

It took 11 month's to build the layout.

Very neat, LegoMathijs!

I really like the classic look to the build. The addition of power functions and lights is great! Keeping ships compatible with each other is a nice touch. The terrain is nicely done for such a large scale.

My absolute favorite part is the portal with the exiting ship!

Great job, LEGO Mathijs!

Holy crap, that's big!

I like how you've kept a nice classic feel to this but used some really great and modern building techniques to really bring this all to life. Great work!

Thanks for the compliments! :classic:

Wow are those fiber optics? Awesome work! I love the classy look and color combinations.

EL-wire isn't a fiber optic. it is a thin copper wire coated in a phosphor which glows when an alternating current is applied to it.

at the internet more detailed information about EL-wire http://en.wikipedia....uminescent_wire

It was the first time for me working with EL-wire. It combines very good with LEGO :classic:

As promised some pictures of the modular spaceships:

The planet OSWION layout contains three spaceships. Two of them, the Galaxy Explorer and the High Speed transporter, are fully modular. You can combine the components of the spaceships with each other.

As promised, some pictures of the modular vehicles.

Four vehicles can be combined by switching the components with each other. With these components, you can create new vehicles, such as the modular spaceships I've posted in this topic.

Thanks:) I like to add playable functions in my MOCs. And space/sci-fi vehicles are, in my opinion, nice themes to use modular functions :classic:
