That shop is a newspaper stand by the looks of it and would make sense too, you need something to read on a bus/tram trip, if it's a long one !

If you look at the picture it looks like there is not one but TWO bicycles, if you look at the girl with the bicycle, then look at the blue piece behind her you can see what looks to me like another bike behind that.

Yep, in white.

If you look at the big map sign near the red mailbox, that map sign sticker looks like its one of the windows from the bus in either clear or white (its hard to tell from the picture).

clear, or correctly, "trans-white"

I hope TLG puts the green torso from the guy at the bus stop into a small set, I would love about 5 of them :)

Decent civilian torsos suitable for everyday causal wear are hard to get (and usually require the purchase of expensive sets)

Those that come in the smaller sets seem to be the same one over and over rather than introducing any of the newer and/or cooler ones.

agreed. That street sweeper is just like the ones I've seen in Austria, which makes a change from the American styled sets that seem to spew out every year. Infact, the whole set-up has a european feel to it.

The downside is that with all this stuff, its likely to cost more than the garage or police station or airport did :(

Especially if its a TRU exclusive in Australia (TRU is normally the last place I go for LEGO due to their high prices compared to other shops)

Unfortunately, yes. Fans Choice? Exclusive to TRU? Any raise on the £100 minimum, anyone?

Actually, this street sweeper looks more like the ones I've seen in the US than any of the past ones have. I think this one is more realistic for everyone.

Finally here! All the vehicles and the tram is top notch! A quality addition too your city.

But I believe there is to many platforms. I would have prefered an improved shop.

Keep on drinking!

Although I'm sure it was not TLC's intent, the tram reminds me of the Wright Bus Streetcar, which is for all purposes a bus disguised as a tram.

Funny thing to say 'european feel to it' when the vote started in the old U.S. of A. I would say that too, as our new trams that are in use in Adelaide are made in Germany.

I going to use the bike rack idea in my town, dam it I must get this set - my son wants the tram and bus.....of course the people too.

I'm a conformist! everyone !

Did anybody notice the release date on that website page, 1st. Oct. 2010 !

Also I translated the info on the page........

LEGO 8404 Public Transport

The choice of LEGO fans: the transport station has all the details and hear a lot of cool vehicles. Jump on the tram at the LEGO City station or take the bus. You can buy a snack at the kiosk while waiting for the bus! Keep the city clean and sweep the waste into the street sweeper, or take a ride in a fast sports car.

I wonder what snacks, I thought it was newspapers it was selling !

And I thought it was postcards!

I really don't see how the sports car fits in... another taxi would have worked better. But still a great set!

Will it include that road base plate? It looks like it has the tram track printed on it. Would be odd since it would not match up with any other street base plates.

I highly doubt so. Those tram tracks and road plates are meant for illustration purposes. It has been a long while since I last saw road baseplates being included inside recent City sets.

It is not a road base plate only an animation to show it.

This set looks awesome. I like the new bus and do I see Dastan hair on the minifigure. The tram is really nice with a realistic size. The yellow car is nice, is that new hair on the female minifigure beside it.

Deutsch:

Mann, oh Mann

Ich liebe dieses Set. Besonders der Bus und die Starßenbahn habe es mir angetan. Aber wo seht ihr noch ein Fahrrad?

Wusstet ihr, dass es 3 Zeichnungen gibt?

Hier sind sie:

I love this Set. The bus and the tram are my favourites. But where do you see another/ a twice bike?

Did you know that there are 3 drawings?

Here they are:

Looks great!! Cool looking vehicles - the tram looks interesting and I especially like the bus and the details such as the bike rack and the shop. Can't wait to get hold of it!! (Will the tram run on actual rails?)

this is just great!

I have been waiting for this news...

The tram / coach bus are nice for an official set, but I have seen better MOC's of both these vehicles out there and would probably be modding them.

Also a little sad that the idea of a monorail reissue is pretty much out of the question now.

Oh well, will most likely still be picking this one up!

@greeny010

Your English is very good, Thank you for sharing that with us!

This set looks great. There was an older set similar to this. I'm glad they're remaking older, more obscure sets :)

Is that a new head the tram driver has? It looks like sideburns to me.

That's awesome. I haven't bought any LEGO sets lately, but I'm sure I'll have to get this one on my hands. The details are wonderful, there is so many in there and it looks complete. Yes, perhaps some greenery and a real track for the tram, but it is looking very well.

That's a nice set. Much as I appreciate the incredible detail or efforts for a realistic look in AFOL transport MOCs, the simplicity of the Lego models does appeal to me. I like how with such a minimal model, they acheive the *effect* of a coach (simple but effective window and door arrangement) and tram (SNOT window canopy). To me the overall effect although the models are more simple, is very artistic and clever.

As a kid, while I enjoyed creating more elaborate versions of cars etc. - it always annoyed me that they looked more like a bunch of bricks and too much careful intricate construction was needed. Lego models while less realistic (especially then) seemed more coherent.

Even as an AFOL, while others have their own preferences (detail and realism), one of the things I like and try to strive for with my models is a smooth straightforward look that still captures the *essence* of the scene I want to create. This is actually quite a hard job to do. While Lego sets are easy to build, it is for that reason that I think they are probably quite hard indeed to design, especially with recent releases. I enjoy the challenge of trying to replicate this in my own MOCs.
