  1. Some of the accesories are great, but the figures are pretty bland and uninteresting to me. Doesn't help that they reduced the number to 12, with even less room to bring something to the table for everyone. This is probably the weakest series of all non-licensed waves so far, in my opinion.
  2. I like it, but I don't love it. I would have preferred if the rumor regarding an Italian style building had been true, instead of a police station. But eh, many fans have been asking for it for years, and I'll concede that it's a good fit and sufficiently different from what we already have. While many think it's the weakest part of the new set, I actually like the very small buildings on each side. It makes for something fresh that we haven't seen before in the line, and adds some variation and colour to the whole thing. I'm a fan of that part. The minifigures, however, are quite dull and lackluster. Nothing really unique. Sure, there's a new police torso - but it's not like we aren't swimming in police torso variations already... I look towards the Downtown Diner as a shining minifigure example, where we got two completely new and unique prints. Also a bit disappointed that there's only 1 animal, which is a 100 % repeat from the last modular. That said, I overall like the style of the building and will get it for sure.
  3. Excellent review, as always! As for the set itself... below average. I'm not a fan of Sesame Street, so the minifigs does nothing for me - though I can see how fans would appreciate them. The building itself, with the exception of some nice furniture, is very bland. The facade looks like a not particularly detailed moc, to be honest. Very plain, very dull. Nothing exciting going for it. For me, this looks like a very expensive minifig pack with some decent but unspectacular parts. I wouldn't even get it at 50 % off.
  4. Thanks for the great review. It was nice to see some closer pictures of interesting parts. I'm not a Harry Potter fan myself, but I've gotten HP sets before due to them often fitting in very well with other themes that I like - and I will likely be getting this set at some point, in order to convert some of the shops to full modulars. I always did regret (and still does) not getting the first Diagon Alley, and I would be foolish to make the same mistake twice.
  5. Thanks for the comments. :)
  6. I never quite liked the style of 10260 Downtown Diner, and didn't feel it fit with the rest of my modulars. I really like the interior details though and wanted to do something with it - so I spliced it with 70422 and some ideas of my own to make it a better fit, while incorporating my favorite Hidden Side detail: the giant shrimp. I still lack a few bricks to finish it off, but I'm pretty happy with the result.
  7. I am pretty bitter that Sweden is allowed to buy from Bricks & Pieces - but Denmark, home of the bricks, from where the actual Bricks & Pieces are shipped out, is not. What gives?
  8. I'm puzzled how LEGO decided to run this theme alongside Ninjago, as the two are nearly identical in style.
  9. It was probably 3 years ago. And granted, it was very similar to the original...
  10. That is weird indeed. I once had a revision of the Imperial Trading Post rejected because it was a remake of an existing set... That's not the point though. The point is that the "we already have one Ideas set with that theme, so we can't have more" reasoning in regards to Pirates is ridiculous - since it's obviously not a problem with other subjects/themes.
  11. It'll be a pass from me, even though that alternative build with the mill looks promising. No cloth sails, a colour-scheme terribly similar to past ships release and no new minifigure prints makes it not worth the money for me. But I guess it's decent for those of you who missed both Pirates 2009 and 2015.
  12. I don't quite understand that reasoning. I mean, we've had several NASA-themed sets released on Ideas so far, with even more having been submitted without issues... Unless, of course, it's simply to cover up an upcoming Pirates theme.
  13. My thoughts exactly. Absurdly disappointing. But they don't seem to care.
  14. Agreed. I voted on it - but not because I want the set as presented in Ideas, but because I see potential for an inhouse LEGO makeover of the set. Like what they did with the excellent Pirates of Barracuda Bay.
  15. That's a huge shame. No matter the quality of the CMF series at hand, I've always enjoyed your reviews of them.
  16. Thank God that you ressurrected a 7-year old topic to tell us all about broken links in it.
  17. Four Swords in is too big, too square and doesn't have nearly enough details. They'd have to change almost everything about it - and since the idea itself isn't particularly unique either, there's not much draw. The windmill has potential though.
  18. Is this your first time posting in this subforum?
  19. Saying "I am personally disappointed with the result" is perfectly fine. Saying over and over again that everyone who voted for the project has been sorely betrayed, however, is both tiresome and incorrect. Therein lies the difference.
  20. What you fail to achknowledge is that not all 10,000 of those who voted feel like you do; not all 10,000 wanted the set as it was represented. I, and several others in this thread, did *not* want the actual set - but voted on the idea and potential it represented. So when you say that the 10,000 who voted on the set were betrayed, that's simply not true. You feel betrayed, and there are certainly others who does as well - and that's fine. But you need to accept that not everyone has the same reasons as you for voting on a project and that your opinion does not represent the opinion of the other 9,999 voters. LEGO probably realized early on that the submission as it was represented was not suitable for release as a set without major modifications. Would you then have preferred that they rejected the submission instead of tweaking it to something they could release? Because that would have been the alternative.
  21. I Just remember that not everyone who voted on the project expected it to be released as the big, brown pile of bricks that the original idea represented. Not everyone who voted on the project are, like you, dissappointed and feel strongly betrayed. There are plenty of us who voted on the idea exactly because it was an idea we saw potential in; something that could be turned into a great set with the right guidance. Those of us weren't ever interested in the set as it was, but in the potential it had. And those of us are thrilled about the result.
  22. There are several ways to get around that. Just do a google search.
  23. LEGO is a business. If they don't see the original idea selling without severe modifications, they obviously won't make it. Would you have prefered that they rejected the idea instead? Do you think the original designer would have preferred that route? I would absolutely love that. I would absolutely love that as well.
  24. I love it! *burp*
