  1. Great stuff...love all of the little details, like the fangs as icicles and the ice sculptor. Great job!
  2. Actually, after replying to your post, I went back and started reading through that thread for fun, and let me say, it is staggering how many of our ideas have actually showed up in series 2, 3 and now 4. Surely there's plenty of room for coincidence, but just off the top of my head the Musketeer, the Geisha, obviously all of the sports figs, and countless others have been mentioned on that list. I personally would like to take 'ownership' of the mad scientist fig in Series 4 (obviously I don't actually think I'm responsible for the fig's inclusion, just having some fun with it of course). Might be fun to make a list sometime pointing out which EB member has suggested it on CopMike's list. I'm sure names like Dunjohn and Klaus-Dieter will show up more than once.
  3. Can't believe none of the UK fans have come up with this one yet... Gender: Male Occupation/print on torso: Guy Fawkes prankster Type of headgear: perhaps Hat, Guy Fawkes mask Type of facial expression: mischevious Color on torso/legs: Dark clothes, perhaps a cape Accesory: Fireworks
  4. Ummmmmmm, yeah. There's an entire thread of these HERE.
  5. Amen, and amen. This series has arguably raised the minifig to a new level of artistic achievement (no pun intended regarding the artist fig).
  6. I think we surprised them by going hog-wild for it last year-- and they didn't anticipate such high demand. Smart move to recognize the potential for re-release.
  7. Got this set on Friday along with a few more Series 3 and the K-9 unit. For the most part, it's more of the same-- except for the second criminal with the backpack and gray jacket over his prison stripes. GREAT FIG! I gave him the crowbar and he seems to have proven himself quite elusive from the long arm of the City police! The dog is pretty nice, but they seem so much smaller than the old dogs-- feels a little too 'yippy' instead of this big, intimidating German Shepherd. Still, not a bad little set considering I got it with the BOGO 50% for $5.00 USD.
  8. Awesome! 'Tis a grand sight to see so many masts bobbing on the horizon..... MORE FOR US PIRATES TO PLUNDER, Yaha!!! Seriously though, great job!
  9. And now, I'm going to attempt the impossible-- rank them in order of my least favorite to most, which I must say is harder than ever before. As so many have pointed out, unlike the previous lines there's not a single weak 'filler' fig in the entire batch, easily the high point of the whole CM line so far. Here's my thoughts: 16. SURFER GIRL: Again, this would have clearly fallen in the third quarter of any other line, but against this competition I find her the least pressing. I like the head-- possibly our first smirking female face. 15. SKATER PUNK: Yes, we've already had a skater-- perhaps they're going to set us up with an eventual gang of punk teens to serve up some mischief in our collective cities. 14. SOCCER PLAYER: Actually quite a nice figure, even if I'm not really into soccer. I could see plenty of soccer fans wanting multiples of this guy, so sorry if my low placement offends anyone. I'll probably get one and avoid the teambuilding. 13. ICE SKATER: Love the concept, and a new hairpiece to boot. Will be a great addition to the Winter Bakery's ice rink. 12. GARDEN GNOME: Clever idea-- could possibly double as 'Santa elves' if need be. What I don't get is-- why does a garden gnome have a fishing rod? Maybe I just don't know enough about gnomes... 11. GEISHA GIRL: Great figure, and what a great addition to the entire Japan sub-theme the figures have followed. She'll look great beside an un-armored samurai with sumo hair. 10. MAD SCIENTIST: This was yet another figure on my 'must-make' list. Finally, a villain to blame all of these bizarre creations on-- the zombies, robot-- adds a great deal of storyline into other figures. He looks nuts! 9. MONSTER: And what mad scientist would be complete without his master creation... Surprised this guy didn't make the series 2 cut since it was so close to Halloween-- but he looks fantastic. Certainly will look great besides all of the other 'movie monster' figs... 8. SAILOR: Ahoy matey! Again, I realize I'm probably going to disappoint many collectors who will want hordes of these guys. I can see myself getting two, just to have hanging out at the docks or maybe in the local saloon. 7. PUNK ROCKER: DUDE! Hair is great, even if it's purple. But let's not kid ourselves... This will certainly be one of those figures where the accessory is just as, if not more, important than the figure itself. ROCK ON! 6. HAZMAT SUIT GUY: Clean-up on aisle 6... A fantastic figure. I want two, although a full team would be really cool too. 5. VIKING: Yes, we've had vikings, I know. I have only one, and am sick of him being absorbed by other factions-- he needs some men to command, and I intend to give him PLENTY. 4. WEREWOLF: Personally something I've wanted to see since the series came out, and I love how they used the elf gear to make it possible. I'm entirely satisfied, and love how he's got one sleeve ripped away entirely. If only you could see his bare feet. 3. ARTIST: Viola! Perfection... already thinking of how we can make him a canvas and easel out of a 2x2 tile and some other pieces... 2. HOCKEY PLAYER: Actually I'm a bit surprised I have him #2-- this figure is great and I will want at least six, if not more... the only weak part might be the hockey stick itself, but otherwise amazing. I'm wondering if that's just a standard racing helmet below the facemask, because if it is we could easily put together a rival team using pieces from these guys... Black Falcons hockey, anyone? 1. MUSKETEER: This, in my opinion, will be the true Spartan of the series... The hat, the weapon, the amazing torso. Sure, everyone will buy at least three, and at first I thought I would stop there... but if anyone's into Pirates, and clearly I am, suddenly this becomes a potential gold mine, if not for the accessories but also the torso itself. And judging by the last few pages' comments, everyone seems to be talking about him the most. Absolutely epic! I think all in all this line will see more people buying doubles than ever before. I'm still not a buy-a-box kinda guy, but I'll surely buy more second and thirds than ever before. Great job TLG!!
  10. BOOOOOOOOM! Astounding... possibly the best overall series yet. Color me utterly impressed. And if you ask me... it certainly could be a coincidence, but so many of these seem to have emerged straight from Cop-Mike's idea thread from the summer :)
  11. Grogall, once again your posts are like sweet music to the Eurobricks world :) Care to contemplate if you think we might see a new reindeer mold in the set?
  12. WINTER THEME PREDICTION #1: There is NO WAY this line will conclude in 2011. There's just too many possibilities, too many classic sets waiting to happen. WINTER THEME PREDICTION #2: We'll see a reindeer mold in the next two years, hopefully in a killer set featuring all eight (or even nine) deer and a sleigh full of toys. WINTER THEME PREDICTION #3: As much as I'd like to see it, we probably will not get an old stone church, complete with a minifig Nativity scene. Probably the one I'd like the most, but I just can't see TLG breaking its own rules regarding religion. WINTER THEME PREDICTION #4: I envision a beautiful scene beneath my tree several years from now featuring large buildings (Toy Shop, Bakery), smaller scenes (ice rink, lamppost and bench), and a great little train running around the entire thing. i.e. I WILL KEEP BUYING THESE AS LONG AS TLG KEEPS PRODUCING THEM. This conversation seems to be veering off topic, and if so I apologize...
  13. Actually, it's NOT that easy to feel out the shield. I was able to ID the elf with the dot pattern, but could not feel it out-- I was actually looking for both the bow and the shield. Plus, then you also run the risk of wrinkling the cape (no white box). On the other hand, some things that are rather easy to feel through the bag: The Banana (Gorilla) The Headress (Indian Chief) The Backpack (Pilot) The Snowboard (Snowboarder) The Fishing Rod (Fisherman) Fairly easy to detect the Samurai's Armor And oddly, the Sumo's trophy can be picked out rather easily Actually, once I made the purchase and returned home, I sat down the dot sheet and went through all of my bags, trying to ID what I'd gotten... and after looking only for the dots it appeared that I did NOT get a Hula Girl, a Gorilla, or an Elf. In actually I got two Hulas, two elves, and the gorilla (possibly my favorite of the entire series). So moving forward, I'd recommend doing the dot sheet, and THEN feeling the bag out to confirm the choice. Unlike some others, I'm not interested in a box worth, and am really looking just to complete the set and maybe grab a few more elves and baseball players.
  14. Positively epic... feels very old-school, almost Rockwellian.
  15. I can confirm another East Coast purchase :) It was hard to try and pick them all out, so I actually bought 18 and tried my best to find what I could by using the dimple crib sheet method. Long story short, I am VERY PROUD to announce that out of 18, I received every one except the Space Villain and the Rapper, and received a second elf and a second hula girl. In fact, I even checked them again once I got home (and before I opened them) and was able to identify an extra sumo and an extra pilot-- so I was able to not open them, and can return those two and perhaps grab the rapper (I'm not sure I even want the cyborg to be honest). SO... long story short, the dots work if you have a sharp eye for detail. I was actually very short on time and was able to accomplish this in just over ten minutes in the store. AND, with the BOGO 50% sale, I paid only $42 for the whole batch. Very pleased with my Series 3 experience-- and to all a good night!!
  16. Interesting concept: Cygnet over at Ugly Duckling at Bricklink has created a Google map to track all of the various sightings of Series 3 figures in North America and beyond. What a great idea-- if you find them in your location, put up a pushpin and then we'll all be able to observe the spread of the S3 distribution. The write-up and map link can be found here!
  17. So very cute-- I know I shouldn't hold my breath waiting for it, but I'd still love to see TLG produce a Nativity Scene!! Mary, Joseph, an angel, three shepherds, a few sheep, three kings/wise men, a camel or two, a cow, a donkey, and of course the star of the show, the Christ child! Maybe even throw in a few random brick-built set props, like a manger, a stall with hay bales, or a stone backdrop.
  18. I was thinking the same thing... either a Winter Train or 'The North Pole.' Either way it's a win-win. Even having just the Bakery and the Toy Shop under the tree with all of their little add-ons is a great example of how Lego can conquer the whole 'Holiday Village' business that really has become a big deal, at least here in the States.
  19. I think it was a TRU number on that sticker, perhaps a routing number or something to that effect. But the BOX was def. Lego.
  20. Last night I stopped by one of my local TRU's looking for Series 3 (no luck), but while I was there I noticed something rather interesting. Ever since Black Friday I've become accustomed to looking up at the shipping boxes at the top of the Lego display, which often are very informative. What I did find last night was a series of about 5 very large boxes (I'd bet they held at least 4-6 larger sets each), all marked Lego. There was a white TRU packing sticker with all sorts of barcodes and the numbers 8318 (not relevant, according to Brickset), but, when studying some of the information printed on the boxes' sides, two very distinct words stood out: SPACE THEME I could be wrong, but I'm guessing they already have the shuttle in stock, and are holding it back from purchase. Why?
  21. Saw this last week and almost pulled the trigger. I think I prefer the old van for the K-9 units, but it's still worth picking up-- maybe another paddy wagon for all these pesky crooks overrunning the city.
  22. Lego CITY video game??? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm....
  23. Both of these sound VERY promising....! Bank sounds like a great addition to the skyline of the City, and I'm sure there'll be plenty of playability involved as well. Is it me, or does 2011 seem to be shaping up as a great year for the criminals of Lego City??
  24. Grrr... This Fred Meyer/Distribution issue is not helping to raise my opinion of the Pacific Northwest. j/k... they look great, and I like your bat rack... Just a little jealous is all...
  25. I got to check all of the new Police sets out yesterday in TRU, and although I actually went home with the Pharaoh's Quest biplane set, my observations are as follows: 7279 Police Minifig Collection -- REALLY wished we got one of the blue shirt-n-tie detective figs here. Who really needs more cops? Possibly the biggest draw here is the dog and the new crook with the jacket, but can't help but think this could've been better. 7285 Police Dog Assignment -- Not a bad set for $12-- It's kind of a weird truck and I prefer the K-9 unit from the last police station, but still seems like a bargain for the price. I'll definitely grab one of these at some point. 7286 Prison Transport -- What's not to love? Great van, a criminal, a nice motorcycle... great playability and functionality for a pretty small set. I was very close to taking this one, but figured it might show up in one of the department stores at a cheaper price before Christmas. 7287 Police Boat -- AND WE HAVE A WINNER!!! I've often said that I just didn't see my city as a coastal town, but between the rumor of harbor sets and now this beauty, I think my latitude and longitude may have shifted. FANTASTIC SET, great design, great playability-- I will DEFINITELY be getting this boat. It's got such a great aesthetic design up close, and I was very suprised at the large staging area behind the bridge that you just don't see in the pictures. My boys in blue are going to be hitting the waves in this thing for sure. 7288 Police Truck -- Again, a tempting offer. I just grabbed the Police Command Centre in the spring and would have waited had I known this was coming. Still, I just don't see the need for it. If I cover up the motorcycle and blue-shirt detective with my finger, I just find this less appealing. Ahh well, can't win 'em all. 7498 Police Station -- Seems like SUCH a clone of the last one. Would've preferred they'd gone an entirely different route here.
