  1. HATS OFF to Tazosaure for finally giving some of the most original suggestions to hit this thread in months! Here here!
  2. FWIW... I was just at my local TRU this morning, right as the store began to open, and the local LEGO rep was there helping some of the staff reassemble their Lego aisle. I sat there for a few minutes just watching them discuss the layout, etc. and it was pretty interesting hearing her wanting to use the 'slower' Creator sets as dividers between City and other lines like Kingdoms and/or Harry Potter. At some point, they asked me for help, and I played dumb asking to see what they did with all of the Drawbridge Defense that was in the same store just a few months ago. I didn't really get much response other than 'oh, that's a pretty old set.' But, she did break out the retail book to show me some of the upcoming Kingdoms sets, to which I said 'wow, a windmill, that's so clever,' etc. I asked when they'd be available here in the US, and she said it's a confirmed AUGUST release for the new Kingdoms sets. So there you have it from the horse's mouth, if we didn't know that already.
  3. After looking at this new series (which I love, again, btw), I couldn't help but wonder how many of these ideas were originally discussed/requested on CopMike's "What Minifigs are we missing" thread. Obviously it's ridiculous to assume that TLG is directly taking these ideas just from our requests, since many of the figures produced are general ideas that anyone can think up, and additionally we must remember that TLG pays creative people well to just sit around and think of these ideas. So I'm sure their own list probably dwarfs ours. But, with that being said, I found myself wondering how many of these new figs actually were mentioned during the history of that thread, which began in May 2010 when Series 1 began (let's recall that at that point we'd already seen prelims of Series 2 as well). SO, I've put together a list which records what EB member suggested each figure concept first, chronologically, from Series 5. Throughout that entire thread there's a tremendous amount of re-mentioning ideas already listed by another member (I should know, I thought the Holmes idea was mine!), so if you aren't listed as the originator of the suggestion, it means someone originally beat you to it earlier in the thread. Also listed is what page of the thread the entry was first suggested, as well as a month and year. As I suspected, we didn't mirror all of their ideas: Series 5 ‘Sherlock Holmes’ Detective: Dr. Kilroy –Pg01, May10 British Royal Guard: Dunjohn—Pg02, May10 Eskimo: Athos—Pg02, May10 Lumberjack: Athos—Pg02, May10 Gladiator: Fluyt—Pg03, May10 Mafioso: Lego Wargammer—Pg04, May10 Snowboarder: Jonwil—Pg05, May10 Cleopatra: Zzz—Pg06, May10 Graduate: Dfenz—Pg06, May10 Dwarf: Mo123567—Pg12, Dec10 Boxer: Lord Embo—Pg12, Dec10 *Lomogi asked for any fig with a bowler’s hat, so I guess an honorable mention for the clown technically applies—Pg02, May10 Also, for the sake of reference and credit, here's the same treatment for Series 4 and 3: Series 4 Footballer: Prateek –Pg01, May10 Hockey Player: Ratshot –Pg01, May10 Sailor: Ratshot—Pg01, May10 Mad Scientist: Mr. Elijah Timms—Pg01, May10 Rockstar (didn’t actually say Mohawk): Peppermint_M—Pg01, May10 Musketeer: Athos—Pg02, May10 Artist: Jonwil—Pg02, May10 Frankenstein’s Monster: Computer Bug—Pg02, May10 Geisha: Dunjohn—Pg03, May10 Viking (first to really say ‘viking’ and not barbarian): blueandwhite—Pg03, May10 Hazmat Suit Guy: Lego Wargammer—Pg03, May10 Garden Gnome: Dharkan—Pg06, May10 (indianajones suggested the fishing pole) Werewolf: indianajones—Pg06, May10 Series 3 Race Car Driver: Toa_of_Justice –Pg01, May10 Pilot: Ratshot—Pg01, May10 Baseball Player: Athos—Pg02, May10 Hula Girl: Athos—Pg02, May10 Samurai: Fluyt—Pg02, May10 Tennis Player: Dunjohn --Pg02, May10 Vampire: Aredhel—Pg04, May10 Gorilla Suit: Mr. Elijah Timms—Pg04, May10 Tribal Chief: Klaus-Dieter—Pg04, May10 Elf (he said ‘Elfknight’): Elander—Pg05, May10 Blacktron Astronaut: Dunjohn—Pg05, May10 Fisherman: Aanchir—Pg06, May10 Female Snowboarder: SilentMode—Pg07, Jun10 So we've gotten many of their ideas right, but several of our other requests have still yet to be produced...Series 6 perhaps? Judging by what I've read through, it seems like the most popular ideas we discussed that TLG have yet to make include: a monk, a judge, a chimney sweep (now in the historical figures set), a highlander warrior, a hippie (m or f), a gardener, a scarecrow, and millions of other ideas that did not meet a large consensus. Either way, it was interesting to study. We'll see what happens...
  4. Dude, it's a LEGO ESKIMO. It is simply good to be alive.
  5. It comes with two, if that means anything. The ones I just received were not mint by any means, but I'm satisfied with them. And for less than $65 I can't complain. I washed the entire set up yesterday and it looks like brand new.
  6. Dude, that is the most intimidating "DSS" I've ever seen come out of a Lego set. And unfortunately, it's easy to see that several of the stickers are to be placed across multiple pieces. C'mon, Lego-- You're lucky this set is so epic.
  7. Ebay! And I'm not much of an after-market purchaser, to be honest. The prices of the six figs alone on BL approach $40USD, so it was a real find. As for the Vikings line... I already had the Fenris Wolf, and they're easily some of my favorite figs. My ambition is to get 6 of the upcoming Series 4 Viking to make them the grunts, the oarsmen for my band of plundering bearskins! Of them all, this guy is clearly my favorite. Yaaahar!!!
  8. Got the VIKING SHIP!!! Just a few bucks higher than the original price and totally complete! The rest of the castle realm is suddenly quivering with fear...........
  9. My loyalties put me at odds against you, if only because you doubt the might and will of the Black Falcons!!! Honestly, though, since I was a boy I've always thought of the Black Falcons as an independent bunch, who trust no one outside their own walls, who never join forces either good or evil, and always put the concerns of their own flag beyond anything else, even the epic fight between good and evil itself. It certainly plays very well against the rest of the factions landscape and if you're ever in need for a wildcard in your 'storyline,' the Black Falcons are always a good place to start. That, or the Vikings, who in my realm just can't seem to get along with anyone, even if they want to. Great fun!
  10. !@Q%$&??!!! Are you serious??? That's so Lego-- always looking to turn the destructive loss of property and the wanton horror of anarchy into high profits... Dude, c'mon...
  11. I had the weirdest dream last week that I got a set where the Series 1 zombies were attacking a city house, and who was included to defend them: .... 2 GOATS! Looking back, that's flippin' genius-- the epic GOAT ZOMBIE DEFENSE set, haha!!
  12. Have to admit, these are the first pics to really raise my eyebrow-- well done and thanks gwenju! As we speculated, the figures and accessories are EPIC WIN! The hairpieces, the new hats, and far and away the sword holder are almost too good to be true!! Du-da da-da-daah, I'm Lovin' It! I also appreciate that alot of these sets are kept relatively small-- and possibly even affordable. Makes spending top dollar on the QAR a little more plausible. Dang-- I had no intention of buying another pirate ship this year!!
  13. Not a bad idea-- could definitely be a Christmas-themed variant of an existing character, like Santa Yoda or Santa Vader. I guess that's no weirder than a Santa taking a shower in your house in a Speedo
  14. Ha, I'm not up on my technical SW expertise as much as probably, well, everyone... Guess I heard/read that one wrong. Thanks for the clarification. I admit, as an old school SW fan my terminology is more Kenner-based than Dark Horse or Del Rey or any of these Expanded Universe sources.
  15. Agreed... hard to swoosh the podracer if the chassis is only connected to the engine with a few random strings or tubing pieces. The technic beams are typically used to increase structural strength, and the clear ones will keep them from looking like this!
  16. Welcome, man-- I've enjoyed the comments you've added around the site and look forward to hearing your take on future events as they unfold. Welcome to EB, and don't be a stranger!
  17. OUTSTANDING... Child or adult, AFOL or otherwise, who wouldn't be impressed by that???? This would turn even the most uninterested heads, and is a true testament to how Lego, even system Castle sets, can be elevated to a form of art. Great job, gentlemen!
  18. Agreed-- apart from the mighty ships themselves this is one of the crown jewels of the entire Pirates line. Bustling with activity and just waiting for pillaging!! Personally speaking, which basically means from my own collection, I'd have to go with 6263 Imperial Outpost, which is small but serves as a nice fortress from which to plot against those dastardly pirates, or 6278 Enchanted Island, just because it's so wide open and waiting to be populated.
  19. Great topic, and easy to answer: 1. Hospital: We know it's coming in the next year or two, and all of this waiting is only raising my expectations, so here's hoping that TLG delivers. I'm not expecting some 300-room facility, but there's no reason not to expect a full service ER entrance, an operating room, a waiting room (I can see the little sticker-on-tile magazines in my mind already), an X-ray room, about two or three patient rooms, and finally an awesome ambulance. Figures would include a surgeon, two nurses, two patients (perhaps with a clip on cast for the arm, or even one white leg to simulate a cast), a civilian relative for the patients, and two emergency medical personnel for the ambulance. Add on sets would certainly include the airlift helicopter, another surgeon with car, perhaps a little hospital visit impulse with a sick patient in bed, and maybe even an accident scene with a second ambulance to save someone who was hurt. Lots of possibilities, and unlike so many other civil service branches, we have yet to really see one done well. 2. Schoolhouse: We don't need some sprawling high school campus... I'd be happy with an old-school single room schoolhouse with 8 or 9 desks stretching out in the main floor, with teacher's desk in front complete with a globe and an apple. Other details would include a chalkboard (or wipeboard as is more common today), a little foyer vestibule in front of the main classroom with some hat racks, a bell steeple that would mount directly above the front foyer, and perhaps a little washroom in the back. The set would be even more impressive by using a larger size baseplate to include a little recess/playground beside the school itself, with a brick-built jungle gym, swing set, or monkey bars apparatus. Figures would include the female teacher, about 5 or six kids, and a crossing guard out in front. This set would be killer if they paid attention to the little details-- the devil's always in the details! 3. Grocery Store: I'd bet the designers have toyed with this idea before, and likely the biggest problem is SIZE. But, if it was done well enough I think it'd sell. Fairly large, open building with four or five rows of shelves. I'd love to see how they might create dry goods and bottles out of simple cylinders and small studs. Down in front there might be two checkout areas, and it would be absolutely essential that we'd get our first molded shopping carts! A nice full window facade in front would be complimented by a small parking lot for two or three vehicles. Other areas might include the butcher's area, the frozen food case, and an open produce display in the front of the store. Figures would include two clerks, another stockboy, three or four customers, a butcher, and the store manager. Plus we could do the entire set in a new color scheme with a new market logo that would carry on throughout the entire theme. Additional sets might include a figure set of additional shoppers and goods, a delivery van of produce or meat, and perhaps a gas station area that could be positioned just outside the market itself. Thanks for shopping at the Lego market!
  20. Have we received confirmation that the next book will DEFINITELY have an exclusive minifig as well? If so, let the speculation begin!!
  21. Agreed-- combatants or comrades can be a very good thing! As we've learned, what good is a luchadore if he doesn't have anyone to wrestle?? I can see all of these! Of them all, I'd really like to see the antagonist hockey player! Perhaps you could even make the next one a goaltender, and if planned ahead (ie. bought enough multiples) you could swap out the gear to give each team five skaters and one goalie. how great would that be??? I could also see TLG creating 'leader' counterparts to some of the more obvious factions-- like a HEAD ZOMBIE, or a LEADER SPARTAN, or an ELF LORD.
  22. Klaus-Dieter essentially locks this thread with his entry above. He's spot on with everything, and it fills in all of the blanks... My only problem is that almost every one of these amounts to a massive set of some sort. I've been lucky enough to have the majority of the system scale OT collection since it began, but have since began to wave off so many of the higher sets... Tantive IV, the new Shuttle, and of course the Death Star, are just too rich for my blood. Those three sets alone are too much, to the extent that I'd feel like I was robbing my own family just for my own hobby. So with that being said, I'd like to address Klaus's list with regards to pricing (forgive me if I put all price speculation in USD): Episode 4: Tantive 4: (re-design) with the floor (the most important room seen in the movie) and a minifgure of a black-suited Imperial Officer (not Imp. Captain). --Wow, if the last one cost $150 USD and we're looking to add more interior room, this thing's going to be expensive. At least $175, and I'd have to pass. Lar's Homestead and Sandcrawler: (partly re-design) I regrettably missed the last version of the Sandcrawler. --I did get the last Sandcrawler, and at the time was the most expensive Lego set I'd ever purchased. It's massive, and a fair amount of work to build. If it were up to me, I'd say lose the Sandcrawler and give us just the homestead as a $40 or 50 USD set. Obi Wan's Home and Tusken Raider Attack: Would imo be better to sold together (because of playability); of course with a Bantha and Tusken Raiders with new head molds. --YES! THIS is a hands-down winner. Again, in the $40 USD range I think this can be everything we need it to be. His little house with three or four Tusken ruffians outside the door with their trusty steed! Of all the sets Klaus-Dieter listed, this is hands down the one I'd like to see released most! Mos Eisley Cantina: (re-design) much bigger, more detailed version with many new minifigs (band member(s), barkeeper, Sandtrooper with white shoulder pattern). -- As far as I'm concerned, to do this set the right way would be to make it huge, and very expensive. I agree with the modular concept-- one major set, the primary bar area, around $60 USD with Luke, Ben, Wuher, Dr. Evazan (sp?) and his partner (previously known as Walrus Man, haha). Then several additional add-on sets, around $15-20 USD each, such as: 1.) The Modal Nodes band and stage, 2.)Greedo's confrontation with Captain Solo, 3.)Cantina patrons, adding in Momaw Nadon's (sp?) table in the movie, and 4.) maybe one more set tying up some of the more important random figures in the cantina, including the Imperial spy. Done well, this could be VERY effective, and would also allow buyers to customize their cantina (for example, make the band stage twice as big with twice the band members, or add on additional bar booths as needed). TIE Fighter: (re-design) with grey (instead of blue) stripes and an Imperial Engineer. --Yes, I guess I could see this. I have multiples though, and would probably skip it. Yavin 4 Base: at the best with a re-design of the X-Wing (not a midi-/mini-model!) and many new minifigs. --I'd lose the X-wing, and just focus on the base. Maybe like the one in the book, with a recreation of the final celebration scene. Either way, this adds up to at least a $100 USD set. Episode 5: Hoth Rebel Base: (re-design) much bigger, more detailed version with at least two accurate rooms (control center and medical room) and minifigures of injured Luke and Major Bren Darlin. --We'll see, as it sounds like this is coming later this year. I'd like to also see a focus on the medical wing, the Two1-B droid, and some more rebel staff. More tauntauns!! I'm guessing we're going to get something in the $100-120 USD range. Executor/Imperial Star Destroyer: (re-design (if ISD)) with more interior included, seperated rooms, an Imperial Lieutenant and an Imperial Admiral, perhaps even some new bounty hunters (or re-desgins of IG-88 and Dengar) with a construction that does not that simply brake at the best as a 250-260 set to really have it accurate. --Quite simply, I FEAR THIS SET. There's no way it's not going to be extreeemely expensive, and knowing my luck it'll be the only way to finally pick up Zuckuss and 4-LOM. Can't we just make it an Executor Bridge playset area for $20?? TIE Bomber: (re-desgin) with grey stripes (instead of blue), an Imperial Engineer and a transport vehicle. --Again, I'll take it or leave it. Have one, build it once in awhile, and really don't need another. Cloud City: (re-design) much bigger, much more and seperated rooms inlcuding, many minifigs and minifigs of Ughunauth, silvern 3PO. --Much bigger means Death Star pricing, and puts this beyond my reach. I'd love some Ugnaughts, but otherwise I have the original and can be satisfied with it. But if they could keep the cost down this could be a monumental seller. I'd like to add one here as well: T-47 Rebel Transport: --This is such a beautiful ship, and if they can do a Tantive IV, they can do the Rebel Transport. Who knows how much it will cost and how big it will be, but I'm assuming it would still be manned by primarily Hoth rebels. I'd guess we're looking at the same range of about $150 USD.[/i] Episode 6: Jabba's Palace: (re-design) much bigger, more details and rooms and a decent exterior including and new minifigs (band member(s), new different guards) --This concept has the potential to be ENORMOUS, and for many of us, that's not an altogether good thing. Much like the cantina, I like the idea of modeling it after the previous attempt of Jabba's Palace, with one primary set and additional smaller modular sets that add on. There's a lot of colorful characters to be considered here, but I'd consider a large $80-100USD set with Jabba's main palace and the Rancor pit, complete with an updated Bib Fortuna, Salacious Crumb, the brick-built Rancor, the Rancor Keeper, Oola, and perhaps a few guards. Adding on we could have a 1.) Han Solo Carbonite Rescue, featuring the long-anticipated Leia as Boussh and perhaps a few more guards (Ree Yees, or that Squid-head looking guy?); 2.) Jabba's Dungeon, featuring his droid boss EV-9D9 and maybe a few more droids and an updated Gamorrean Guard or two; 3.) Jabba's Court, featuring a nice motley crew of some of his more interesting hangers-on, with perhaps Luke entering in Jedi gear; 4.) The Max Rebo band, with or without the dreaded special edition add-ons. Plenty of potential to build this up slowly rather than try to pack it all into one box. Jabba's Sale Barge (re-design) since I regrettably missed the last version. --I have the last one, and it's a fantastic, beautiful set, so I wouldn't want to keep it from becoming available to those who have missed it. But, might I suggest another set: Jabba's Skiff Guard, featuring all of the Weequay and Klaatu, Nikto, and Barada guards on the second skiff. They could probably do this really nicely at around the $25-30 USD range. Imperial Shuttle and Imperial Endor Base: (partly re-design) Imperial Shuttle with a gangway and with minfigure of black-suited Imperial Officer (Imp. Captain addionally) --Sounds monstrous, especially if they add on the AT-AT, which would admittedly be really cool. Let's face it, this is $200 USD at the least... Mon Calamari Cuiser: (re-design) the whole ship including everything which we already got in the set last year as interior. --Entire ships sound dangerous, and I'm likely to avoid this entirely. But it'd be interesting to see how they'd do such an organic, round-looking ship. As for figures, I was lobbying very hard last time for a 'Prune Face' commando to be included in the last set, but otherwise the figs were everything we could've asked for. The General Madine, as ridiculous as the character looked, is a great fig! Ewoks' Trap and Ewoks' Village: both combined in one set (for more playbility). --I'm not a huge Ewok fan, and by the time I pick up the Ewok Attack this summer I'll have a nice little handful of the furballs in my collection. BUT, still, at some point they have to do the Ewok Village, and it'll probably be a nice, big set. At $120 USD or higher, they'd better include the black and gray striped ewok, Leia in her Ewok look, and they'd better figure out a way to do a true Han Solo in the long brown camo trenchcoat. TIE Interceptor with grey (instead of blue) stripes and an Imperial Engineer. --The existing Interceptor is a really great design, I'd like to see it done in gray. If Vader's TIE cost $35 two years ago, this thing will probably check in at about $40. Otherwise Klaus-Dieter pretty much says it all. We've seen a lot of the OT universe realized in Lego form, but there's certainly some still unexplored areas worth visiting. I'd just as soon see them a bit cheaper, but that's just me. Thanks again K-D and hope I'm not just rehashing your ideas!
  23. I'd also vote a healthy "No" to that one... it's one thing to embrace an entire brand, but creating figures that branch out in an entire maze of possibilities seems like a marketing nightmare. For every fan that would kill for a minifig line of Dr. Who characters, there's probably four others that will never touch them. Diversifying too much only breaks up the market, which usually leads to lower sales. The figures are a winner because they have such broad, almost universal appeal, regardless of whatever certain sub-genre category that each one might fall into... Now, I wouldn't be surprised to see them release the four Lego Universe characters, just to cross-promote their own video game... but hopefully they'd do it independently of the 'Collectible Minifigures' series.
  24. 800 WOLFPACK??? If you ever feel like unloading even 1% of that army, let me know!
  25. "Were we ready for this?" -- Love the title! Makes me think: "LEGO - Ambushing Even The Most Conservative Customers' Wallets Since 1949"
