  1. If we're going to see more variation in the weaponry, I wouldn't mind seeing more of a cultural connotation with each faction and the weapons they use. For example, let's say that in all new Dragon Knights sets there was a new sword, something with a different cross guard or perhaps a serrated blade, something that was unique to just that particular faction. I guess I already try to do it to some degree with mine, reserving the large and elaborate halberds for the Crownies, and using only the axe-blade polearms for the old Dragon knights. It implies a certain culture for each faction, more so than just a coat of arms or specific colors could.
  2. Really looking forward to hearing some more concrete information about Harbor release dates, stateside or otherwise. It's hard to imagine TLG offering the Harbor sets this early in North America, simply because it's still relatively cold and unseasonal for most of the continent. It doesn't take a marketing genius to realize that the best time to sell a fishing boat set is in the summer, when dad and his son are talking about going fishing for the weekend. It's just like the holiday sets-- TLG would be pretty stupid to begin selling the next Winter set in mid-July.
  3. Yep, if there are 10,000 EB members, I'm betting there's about 17 of us who will be happy getting just one Musketeer. Pretty smart for TLG to create so many figures that beg to be purchased in multiples. Who doesn't want 3 musketeers? I'll tell you right now, I won't be happy until have at least the 6 starters for my City's hockey team. And I have every intention of getting 6 vikings to man the oars on my longboat. Plus, we all know that hazmat workers at least come in pairs, if not more. And especially for those of us who are into shipbuilding, the sailor will easily become the most sought after fig in recent memory. Well played, TLG...
  4. Wow-- I think that's the first news we've heard of any of the new Harbor sets confirmed and released in the wild!
  5. Saw the shuttle too. Seems like a reasonable price point, but I would've loved to have seen a few more astronauts. I guess that can be easily remedied with the upcoming astronaut impulse set, plus then you'd get a satellite to go up with your space shuttle. Didn't buy it though-- took advantage of the BOGO to get the now-clearance 7642 City Garage and the 5766 Creator Log Cabin at a really nice combined price. I think my next plans involve saving up some capital for Series 4, and keeping a sharp eye on the 7636 Combine Harvester, which in my prediction should be going on clearance within the next month or so at the local TRU. It's never been a dream set, but I can get that thing for $25USD it'll be hard to pass up.
  6. Isn't that steering wheel one of those existing Technic wheel pieces, like on the back of the A-Wing Fighters? Good eyes on the torso, though, Tiger-- of all of these I think I like the Lighthouse the most!
  7. Thanks for the pics, Grogall! I'm really looking forward to that prison set-- wonder if there's any way to add it onto the Dragon's stronghold? The Dragon Knights are sure to get stronger in this, ye 11th year!!
  8. According to Brickset, I've got about 553, but I'm pretty sure it's missing out on a few here and there.
  9. Would love a shot of the back side of the dojo. It really is just a backdrop, and not a full building. If it folded up or something you could conceivably put this into a City layout, and just pass it off as the exotic ninja master's dojo. For me, it's just too expensive a price tag for the figs, which is the real appeal here.
  10. Aha! Well played, Brickenhead Town Dweller. That's the problem with gnomes, they're at their most dangerous when you forget they're there...
  11. So I think I've decided-- that Godzilla head/tailpiece combination will simply must be the SINGLE EASIEST PIECE TO IDENTIFY USING THE 'FEEL THE BAG' TECHNIQUE. If we get good enough, we might even be able to see it just by looking at the bag, but either way I don't think anyone will have much trouble identifying that figure. Some other thoughts: The dwarf and clown in this series are collectively the first time we'll see the short legs piece in the minifig collection. I was beginning to think that maybe this would help in picking out dwarves, but knowing my luck I'll come home with an army of vertically challenged clown pie-throwers. Not nearly enough to make the elves tremble-- I think the key will be feeling out the dwarven helmet, specifically the wings. I like the new sword that the gladiator sports, but I kinda was hoping for something more unique given the figure. Perhaps a trident or something like that. Otherwise a great figure, and certainly one worthy of Klaus-Dieter's counterpart theory. Personally it's hard for me to pick a fig I like more than the Eskimo. Kinda wish he had more of an ethnic face, and I'd probably have preferred some snow shoes or a harpoon or something rather than another fishing rod, but at the same time it's certainly appropriate. In terms of MOCing, the Royal Guard might offer the best possibilities. Great new gun, the bearskin hat offers so many possibilities, and the torso would probably work very well for a potential RCMB figure. Very cool, and yes, of course we will all need at least 2. For that matter, there's some really great torsos in there. The snowboarder, the lumberjack, and even the graduate all offer torsos that could be blended nicely into everyone's city layout. Gotta love that blue bubble coat on the snowboarder! Some random thoughts... I'm sure more will follow as we see more. Enjoy!
  12. Tell you one thing I've found out about while looking for ToyFair news: KRE-O IS A BIG LEGO RIPOFF!!! I can see starting up your own construction line, Hasbro-- but look at those pieces!!!! They're all exactly like LEGO-- it's almost as if they just scraped off the little "LEGO" on every stud. Otherwise almost all of the pieces except the cheesy Transformers heads and grills are ours, minus a few hollowed-out studs here and there. Absolutely ridiculous.
  13. So is it correct to assume that the Hillside House did not make an appearance? Strange-- for whatever reason, I expected to see that one before the Lighthouse. Also, it seems logical that TLG would put the Lighthouse on shelves at the same time as the City Harbour sets-- so even though they're not all together under the same branding, it feels like part of the collection. Thoughts?
  14. Meh. Put me down for an Ewok Attack. Otherwise, pending the Echo Base unveiling, I think that's it for LSW for me this year.
  15. My sentiments exactly-- apart from the little ice fisher in green, I see nothing in here to get excited about... Certainly not worth 35 of my hard-earned American dollars.
  16. Shaping up to be another excellent series-- I honestly can't decide on my favorite of the bunch! LOVE the eskimo, love the Royal Guard-- and certainly the Dwarf seems to be the army builder of the series. Packaging bumps anyone? haha
  17. Agreed-- about once or twice a year, I actually feel like price point on a Lego set is well worth the price if not a bargain from the consumer's end. (Yes, sadly it's only a few times a year, but that's another story). At $69.99 USD, THIS IS ONE OF THOSE SETS! Between the beautiful barn, the windmill, all of those figures, not to mention all of those animals, I feel like TLG was very gracious with the purchase price here. Thanks TLG!
  18. 2 more elves today, at Target. I've now got myself a nice little scouting party of 7, and I think that might be enough for me.
  19. Didn't mean to offend anyone-- all I meant is that sooo many suggestions on the last few pages are re-hashes of the same idea again and again. Bagpiper. Judge. Hippie. Yes, all awesome ideas, but in the life of this thread, they are nothing new. As some of you may have seen, I recently went through this entire thread to find what Series 3, 4, and 5 figs have been already mentioned in here by EB members. What I found was that many of them were suggested by several people, so the list I compiled focused on the first person to suggest, say, a gnome. I also found, that as of late, the quantity of never-before-seen suggestions were dwindling. All I was implying was that tazosaure's post above featured some of the freshest and most original ideas I've read here in some time. Thought he deserved a shout-out. All apologies if you took offense.
  20. YES! If you ask me, I'd LOVE LOVE LOVE a new rendition of the Black Falcons, as well as Forestmen. BFs will always be my first allegiance in the castle line, and I totally missed out on both Forestmen and the Wolfpack. BUT I don't think it'll happen, and I'll tell you why. It seems like TLG always ran into problems when they added a third faction into the mix... Wolfpack, Forestmen, even the Dwarfs to some degree-- maybe it's just me, but adding a third party to the fight between good and evil never seemed to end well for that third party. Maybe it's too hard to market them, as kids prefer things to be black and white, good vs. bad, lion vs. dragon, etc. So if you ask me, I think the only 'third faction' we'll get out of the current series will be the civilian population, which in all honesty isn't that bad.
  21. If you ask me, Dunjohn, the 'dummy' of series 4 is the female ice skater. Either that or the chick surfer. The only reason I see myself getting either is just to complete the set.
  22. Welcome, Miss Kyle... perfect avatar if I do say so. Welcome!
  23. Who wouldn't love the artist??? Certainly it's one of my favorites of all four lines... I think it's a perfect example of how different figures will appeal to different buyers just based on personality. Some people, like the guys over at FBTB.net, love the new skateboarder, and others are simply mad about the sailor. Personally, I just think they don't hold a candle to the artist, the wolfman, the viking or the hockey player. What's great about these figs is that there's something for everyone, which across the board only builds the mass appeal for the entire line itself. Every series has had its 'Spartan' (or elf, or zombie or cheerleader), but on the next level there's always those unique niche figures for different niches of the buying public. And I feel that's what has made the series so successful. Add that to the entire series collectors and (not to be underestimated) parts collectors, and TLG has got a good thing going on.
  24. That's IMPLAUSIBLE! No offense, my friend, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for an entire Lego Sherlock Holmes. But don't take my word for it-- just go to the nearest playground and ask some kids who 'Sherlock Holmes' is...
  25. Speak for yourself, Yed. That's $35USD that could, imho, just be better spent elsewhere. Now, if they'd included some new and exclusive OT minifig, that's another story. Santa Yoda is cute and all, but not necessary. Nothing against anyone who loves it, but this is easy for me to turn down.
