There's just something about the Black Falcons that always look so badass, and seeing an entire horde of them like your last shot makes me remember that you don't need state of the art 21st century torso printing to make a beautiful minifig. BLACK FALCONS FOREVER!!!!
-
Nice little set-- Kinda crazy I haven't picked one up yet. Trying to decide if I should just get one, or perhaps three or four to line up on the shore... Boat rental??

You had me at Black Falcons... Love the vignette, and really feeling those irrational cravings for Wolfpack figs again

Which theme/subtheme did you miss and regret?
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to BeKindRewind's topic in General LEGO Discussion
My answers are not that different than apparently everyone else's, but I'll record them with the optimistic hope that TLG reads this stuff and realizes the potential bonanza that would result from re-opening these lines: FORESTMEN!!!!!!! We NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED them, TLG!! Add the faction, you won't regret it!! BATMAN!! I used to be a dedicated SW-OT only collector. I walked past tons of these sets and now regret it. WESTERN! Totally part of my dark ages... I could really see these done impressively in today's world of high-end design techniques.' and finally TRADITIONAL LEGO PIRATES! We understand the licensing coup that PotC offered Lego, but let's all be perfectly honest here: They're not the same. I'd easily give up Capt. Jack and all of these new sets to see a return of Cap'n Brickbeard and Governor Broadside, yar!! -
This model just seems so forced into system scale... Take away the figures and it's a definitive UCS set. Building in a token bridge playset, and a rather miniscule one at that, just seems so forced and counter-intuitive to the entire design. I almost wonder if they guy finished his prototype and then a VP of marketing or something said "Okay, now rip it apart and put in a 16x12 bridge area so we can sell it with figs."

Enough is enough already... gotta get me one of these! If TLG really wants to increase sales, they should just throw an extra dragon knight in every single set they sell, regardless of theme. Because certainly it's always an extra incentive to grab a set, especially if you're on the fence. Creator Lighthouse? BAM, Dragon Knight. Cars 2 brick-built vehicle? BAM, Dragon Knight. Hero Factory? BAM, Dragon Knight. Something to think about...

LEGO Star Wars 2012 No more spoilers!
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to Bobskink's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Kinda unrealistic to ask the entire system to be re-worked to your wishes. If you don't like being spoiled by visiting the site, I think the solution is easy and obvious. -
Got a few new ideas... BENJAMIN FRANKLIN! Gender: Male Occupation/print on torso: Brown or blue waistcoat and vest, perhaps a cravat print as well. Type of headgear: powdered wig and/or queue Type of facial expression: amicable, with bifocals on tip of 'nose' Color on torso/legs: tan, with white printing to simulate stockings near the feet Accessory: A kite! JACK FROST! Gender: Male Occupation/print on torso: Blue with light blue accents, snowflakes, icy decor on clothes. Type of headgear: White jagged hair made to look like ice Type of facial expression: light blue skin, with angry eyes made to look like he is blowing Color on torso/legs: white or blue, etc Accessory: Two Snowflakes

Great review. I think I'm happy with the 4504 actually... love the smuggling compartment though!

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 5 discussion
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to eiker86's topic in Special LEGO Themes
2 DWARFS per CASE???? That's ridiculous... How am I going to get thirteen dwarves at that rate??????? -
Also planning on taking advantage of the TRU BOGO... so the question obviously is which sets??? I'm looking at a ceiling of about $120 USD, so I have some options (all prices USD, please). Do I go with: The Harbour and the Mill Raid for $125?? The Harbour and the Marina for $115? The Mill Raid and the Marina for $95, with some cash left over for the Blacksmith Attack and Powerboat, etc? The Mill Raid and the POTC London Escape for the same price above? The Marina and the POTC London Escape for $75, with enough left over for Ewok Attack and the Fishing Boat? The Marina and the Lighthouse for $70, with enough left over for smaller purchases...? Not sure... I am leaning heavily towards the City sets b/c I've just dedicated myself the last 2yrs to building up a layout for my son and I to enjoy together as he gets older, but at the same time that Mill Raid is mighty tempting.... HELP!

Anybody up for a GR-75 Rebel Transport??? Maybe throw in the Ion Cannon or the Shield Generator, and we've got ourselves the last piece of the Hoth puzzle...?

Dude, you must have a lot of keys. -
Why do you collect the Collectible Minifigures?
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to thegurumb's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Agree with all of you who say they really can't explain why, and esp. with Big Cam, when he says that all told it's kinda weird when you think about it. I've got all 64, with many multiples as well. I've even got these mini-hordes of duplicates like baseball players and hockey players and elves and spartans that I just wanted, although I really can't logically explain why. Maybe it's to populate a layout one day, even though I've never actually created one with all my sets. There's also a lot of fun to be had in swapping out the heads on extras and into the city, castle and pirate collections. I've got an entire hockey team now, and every one of them has a different face. It was a lot of fun creating these little 'personalities' to go with the team. Same can be said about the vikings, etc. But as for "Why?" Hard to tell... -
I actually did exactly as you suggested waaaay back in February, compiling a list with all figs starting in Series 3 and up to Series 5, and looking through the entire thread to see not only who may have suggested each of these ideas, but also who suggested them first. I even listed what page of this thread it appears, and in what month. Yes, lots of work. The results are interesting to say the least: So yes, I think most of this is coincidental, but it's still pretty crazy to see how many of the existing figs have already been listed. Sorry for originally putting this post in the Series 5 discussion and not here, where it really belongs...

REVIEW: 853195 Brick Calendar
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to Mariann Asanuma's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Seems kinda odd to give this thing a 9/10 for playability?? I'm curious about if it's always the cheerleader and skater, or is it random selections of series 1 minifigs? So many things I've read keep referencing "two Series 1 minifigs," but if it's always those two why don't they just say "the cheerleader and the skater boy from Series 1?" -
[Review] 6918-1: Blacksmith Attack
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to evilempire22's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Already wondering how I'll divide up those weapons. That two-handed axe looks primed for my Viking horde, but the more I look at it the more it seems like it won't fit in... Strange weapons. -
Me too... not a bad little set, although as it has been said before it's not much of a prison-- more like a facade. I could see this acting more like a gatehouse or something to the Dragon's Stronghold. Obviously the mounted knight is the highlight of the set. I hooked him up with a morning star and he's really looking like the champion of my Dragon faction now.

Trying to remember when we first got pics of the Bakery set last year...? I've actually already put aside money for this one, and look forward to seeing what we're in store for. ALSO, speaking of Winter sets... I took a pair of the Series 4 Garden Gnomes and relieved them of their fishing poles, and lined them up with Santa while holding one of the Toy Shop presents, and they play the part of Santa's workshop elves quite nicely. According to Bricklink, the 41879 short legs single unit piece has never been available in green, but if it were it'd be perfect for completing the gnome-to-workshop elf transformation.

Unfortunately, I think you're right. If they charge me $100USD for this thing I am going to be angry. Because it's substantial enough of an OT set that I want it. Grrrrrrrrr.... All in all it's not bad. I love the thought of the Luke in the Bacta and the 21B, and I love the thought of another Tauntaun in there (was hoping 2, actually). But this should be a $75USD set, tops... and I know that's dreaming... Might be a great set to pick up about a year and a half from now, when TRU is desperately trying to clear their shelves of them (a la Home One). I can hold out on this thing indefinitely if it means I get it at $50-60USD.
-
Awesome review-- certainly doesn't seem like that substantial of a set, but there's amazing playability in there and it does seem to be a pretty solid design. Kinda wish they didn't actually name the vessel on the stickers-- but I guess that's the magic of stickers, you can always ignore them!

Dash Rendar's Outrider (MINI YT-2400 Transport)
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to Legostein's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Awesome rendition in minifig scale... I applaud your efforts! However, it's still not enough to sway my opinion of the Outrider: That's got to be the ugliest ship ever considered to be part of Star Wars canon. -
Many of the suggestions you've recently offered have all been previously listed here. Except your clever Mongol Hunter idea, that is-- throw an old Adventurers sherpa hat on that figure and I'm sold!
-
Just took a good hard look at the advent calendar over at brickset, and one thing just popped into my head: There's no way TLG would print a brand new torso just for a one-off advent calendar novelty Yoda Santa. This then leads to the obvious conclusion that we're going to see an updated take on the Lego Santa in this year's Winter set, featuring the very same torso design that Yoda is sporting in the calendar. Besides, TLG does love to give us little hints here and there, right?

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 4 discussion
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to legokuate's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Gotta say... finally picked up that figure skater this weekend, and it surprised me how much I like that fig. The skates, the great white legs assembly painted yellow to look like she's wearing figure skates, and all those stars!! Gonna look great on the pond by the Winter Candy Shop!
