Everlast, Headquarter of the I.A.M.S.
Thomas of Tortuga replied to Maxim I's topic in Guilds of Historica
Hilarious how easily the mind misses things it wasn't looking for. I completely missed Batman Nice work on the complex. I especially like the detail in the training rooms. -
Nice work! Are you planning on entering the longship, too, or is that too Mitgardian for your tastes?

Really nice angling and texturing on the ground! It looks crazy fragile to pose all those figs on, though- 32 replies

Ch. II: Team Simon: Cat A: Scouting Ahead

Really nice angles on the tree! I think the ground might look just a bit better with some different shades of green, though, to keep everything from looking the same color.- 19 replies

Review: 76021 The Milano Spaceship Rescue
Thomas of Tortuga replied to montgocloud's topic in LEGO Licensed
It might be just you. In my humble opinion, these minifigs are absolutely stunning in their detail. Gamora has a gorgeous head and jumpsuit, the Sakaaran has one of the creepiest heads yet, and Drax is just an epic fig all around. Not to mention this spaceship is one of the best-looking Lego's ever produced. The colors are bright and cheerful (none of this industrial bley nonsense ), the design is amazing, and the dozens of details and play features are great. I am so looking forward to this set!- 67 replies

Nice job on the house! I agree, the combination of white arches and the red roof look very distinguished and official. Maybe adding some figs or furniture inside the portico would help populate the scene.

The Ruins- Collab Display Part I
Thomas of Tortuga replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
Although the story is great, I'm not sure the landscaping lives up to your standards. Although it's textured nicely, the ground seems too monochromatic, and the buildings don't seem ruined so much as half-finished. In my humble opinion, thicker underbrush and some more oddly colored flowers, as well as some rubble around the walls, would help fill in the empty space and make the moc seem more full and complete. -
Nice! That Agents helmet is perfect!

Ch II: Team Simon: Cat A: Chasing the Drow
Thomas of Tortuga replied to odidoma's topic in Guilds of Historica
Very nice work! The tree design looks just creepy enough to set the mood, without overpowering the other landscaping. Your lighting is great, fully illuminating the build while still conveying a nighttime scene. The cliff definitely serves its purpose, but to me it seems too linear and vertically aligned. In between the larger 2x3x1 slopes, you might try adding in some 2x1x1 slopes, or some cheese slopes or headlight bricks. -
...and Orthanc was the godfather. This ship is really sleek and dangerous, like an assassin's poisoned dagger. The dozens of spikes and odd angles make it seem quite fragile and disjointed, but I think it actually improves the overall look of the ship. To me, it looks as though the only thing keeping it together and seaworthy is some form of dark magic. Finally, your Happy Wizard is a hilarious fig. Nice job!

The Spider's Chamber- Collab Prelude Part II

That spider mosaic is one of the best, most sinister floors I've ever seen. Great work, and the story gets thicker and thicker with every moc! -

I've heard legends of LUGbulk from weary, travel-worn wanderers. They tell stories of vast, dirt-cheap quantities of bricks, straight from the Lego company. Are the ancient legends true? -

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion

Well, it's an infinite cycle- you buy bricks, you work to get money for more, then you don't have time to build with them because you're working After doing a heavily-rockworked build in February, I still haven't done any major rockwork. You're right about that.In other news, I just heard from a native speaker of Arabic that "Ibn" actually means "Son of," and that "bint" is the proper word to use for a woman. So... yeah. Just pretend I titled my character intro correctly -

Which, in your opinion, is more important for a Kaliphlinite to enter- the Sultan's Gate community build, or the Challenge II? I'm thinking that, for Sultan's Gate, I have a slightly better chance of winning something, but then again, the Challenge is more prestigious and important to the overall story. Hmmm... -
+1 for the DoH credit

I don't think I can praise this more than others have (and will ), so let me just say that the integration of the Viking hull at the stern is flawless. I've been trying for several days to come up with a solution for those hulls, and this is absolutely perfect. Thank you for posting this.

Nice job! There are some really good siding techniques here, especially the battle droid heads. However, when there are several different techniques so close together, they seem too disconnected to me. I think picking, say, two of the wall techniques to carry over the whole building would look better. Those parapets on the top seem a bit high for your minifigs +1 for Life in Kaliphlin, but I have to agree with Gabe about the landscaping. In addition to mixing up the plant types, I've found that making some of them different heights will also add visual interest.

Really nice work! The tree looks great with all those leaves, and the rocks are also nice. I agree about the bare patch in front, but overall, this looks tremendous
