  1. Thank you! I'm glad you're liking the story so far Thank you, Gabe! That was one of my goals, to make sure I could get mostly Lego in all the backdrops. I'm glad the different techniques flow well together. Yes, the stonework on the lower level. (Or the Tudor woodwork on the second floor. I tried hard on both sections ) Thank you! I'm pleased you like it!
  2. Looking nice! Small nitpick, but I think you should make that back shield level on top.
  3. Very nice work! The sand green, dark red, and white work wonderfully together on the tower, and the details like the drying racks and the tent are terrific. The tree in the background looks good, too, although there are some gaps in the bark. EDIT: Never mind about that, I just realized that's all one tree! One thing I noticed was the contrast between the peaceful greens on the tree and the tower, and the red and orange leaves on the ground. I think the scene might look a little better if you made the leaves on the ground stay in the green family, rather than changing so dramatically. Also, is that ... Peter in the tent?
  4. Nice work! I see this was influenced by Bag End, hmm? There's a good mix of the different tree types here, but soem of the hillside patches look too bare. Maybe you could add some leaves over the curved slopes to make things more textured.
  5. Nice job! I like the pine trees! @Scaevola- they could be young trees, though
  6. Thank you! Thanks! Thank you! It took a lot of fine-tuning Ok, cool! Thanks! Thanks, Infy! I see what you did there... I'm glad you like it! Worried faces are awfully hard to find
  7. Nice job on the roof and the masonry texture!
  8. Thank you! Thanks! I didn't really think she would fit into this scene well, since the scenario is so chaotic. I'd love to see your take on the tree! Thank you! I basically thought of that while I was studying Legonardo's photostream- he puts thatch on most of his houses, to good effect. I'll try to pick up a shot of the ruins tomorrow.
  9. Thank you! I'm glad you liked the water, but I'll probably just add better waves in with another build for that credit
  10. Thanks! Oh, you just wait... Thank you!
  11. As the day faded into twilight in Avalonia, the city of Brevis descended into chaos. Rumors of a deadly plague had spread across the city like a whirlwind, and the panicking citizens brutally attacked anyone they suspected of bearing the disease. The Avalonian army was marshalled to enact martial law and organize an evacuation, before the plague grew any worse. Past the remains of burned and looted houses soon stretched a long line of refugees. From the ruins of one of the homes, a cellar door was shoved aside, grating on the piles of ash. Inside was a small girl, clutching a shivering dog to her breast, and her father. The man’s heart sank as he beheld what the fires had left of his home. Even worse, where was his family? What had happened to his three sons, Peter, Alfrich, and Gavin? Where was his wife Anne? Had they really all perished in the flames that consumed their house? “Father?” the peasant’s daughter asked plaintively, her voice trembling. “What happened to our house? Where is Mummy?” Tears were rolling down his cheeks as he hugged her. “It’s all right, Eleanor,” he tried to comfort her, though the enormity of his own loss was almost too great for him to bear. "It’s gonna be all right…someday…” The house across the street. I took some pretty clear inspiration from Legonardo Davidy on this building, from the roof rakes to the tan patches to the stonework. In addition, Gilbert Despathens helped give advice on the stonework. A tree. The leaves are inspired by the time-honored techniques of Mark of Falworth, and the trunk is an adaptation of a technique by Kai Bernstein, a friend from MOCpages. 12. Very nice job! The city wall has a nice mix of colors on it, and I really like the fire effect coming up the house's corner.
  13. My two cents as a potential customer: I'd be thrilled to get pirate uniforms in dark orange. This whole project is looking terrific, and I really hope Lego considers this as an addition to their rumored Pirate theme. It would be such a cop-out if they dismissed this proposal Ideas-style: "This proposal conflicts with a current playtheme and will not be considered."
  14. Thank you, Ecc! I'm glad you like it!
  15. Nice job! I like the coloring and the arches, and the SNOT bricks give a nice, easy texture to the bottom walls.
  16. When I saw this on Flickr, Valyrio was the first thing I thought of. Great work.
  17. My entry to Cat. C is up! Harold the Leukocyte invites you to comment freely
  18. Yeah- thank you! Thank you, Gabe! I'm glad you enjoyed this so much! That UoP credit was just a joke, really (unless you want to approve it... Is it not the best show ever? Thanks! Thank you! Thanks! Thank you!
  19. Many Avalonians have been stricken by the plague. Some flee, others are quarantined, still others seek the help of alchemists and doctors. Inside all of them, though, one force is constantly striving to combat the ravages of the plague: the white blood cells! The dastardly plague viruses might seek to destroy their victim, but their foes are always vigilant! Outside, great forces move, trying to stop the spread of the plague. No recognition or acknowledgement is given to the humble immune system. But do they care? No! These steadfast cells devote their lives to the service of humanity. In these days of trial, let's always remember their sacrifices, along with those of the larger Historicans. Admittedly, I'm still fairly new to GoH. Nevertheless, I would venture to guess this is one of the more unusual challenge entries. If one reads the challenge prompt carefully, "Depict a character working to suppress the plague (road closure, quarantine, etc)..." it would seem the character could be of any size. Surely nobody could deny little Harold the leukocyte his chance to enter? Although I know I'm not the first person to use this piece in a moc, I was fairly proud of this NPU, so it merits a mention. Fig Microbe-less! I think I did a fairly good job making the blood vessel walls, or at least the floor, curved. Nevertheless, I am compelled to admit that my perception of blood vessels comes entirely from Magic School Bus, so feel free to critique UoP Credits: +1 Micro building
