Ah fantastic. I also like the details. The shell tanker at the side of the shed looks really great! Great stuff.
-
Wow that was something different. What a lot of fun! That was cool.

I don't feel like I can say any more about your MOC. But I'll add to the chorus and say that I think it is fantastic! I love stuff built in yellow and have an special fondness for works style equipment.

London Transport 0-6-0pt Pannier ex-GWR 5700 (WIP)
Pizzareno replied to Srbandrews's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I like your modifications. I think it makes a huge improvement. Great stuff. I think it just needs thinner side rods. I've always been a fan of tank engines and the pannier tank looks great and even more so in this livery- 26 replies

Thank antp. I see they are still on pick a brick at even higher cost of $2.49NZD! for a pair. So on pick a brick but not LUGBulk. Frustrating.

I didn't see anything in the rules about not being able to comment on the parts. It just seemed silly to me that you could order most of the train wheels but no axles. So did anyone know where I could get axles other than BL as NZD$70c per axle on BL seemed rather cost prohibitive.
-
Hi folks, Excuse me if this is in the wrong place. Feel free to move it. My question is when ordering from LUGBulk I see there are train wheels - the kind that have a metal axle - and the part for putting said wheels and axle into but no axles? Is this part actually available? Thanks
-
Thanks so much for that. I really appreciate it

Oh this is so nice . Would you consider sharing the LDD file? I'd like to make a modified version of this for a New Zealand locomotive.

That is the funniest thing I have read all day!

I think I got scammed for 10194 Emerald Night
Pizzareno replied to jabz10's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I'd back up everything Lazarus has said about buying from Bricklink for us here in NZ. I have also found good success with German stores too and there are some that have set shipping rates which are great when buying large quantities. I was a big eBay user even with TradeMe being the big thing here but I had problems with eBay sellers on occasion. However eBay and Paypal always came to the party to sort out any issue and I was never left out of pocket and have since used Paypal for so much stuff and am very loathe to use any other system now when buying from overseas private or non-commercial sellers. When I buy from stores I usually take out insurance on shipping if it is just a couple of dollars more and tracking and all that as I'd rather spend a few extra bucks to make sure I get what I need than loose a couple hundred. If a BL site doesn't have shipping listed I always ask before buying cos I don't want to get caught out with that either and asking questions of sellers beforehand you can find out if they are good communicators too. I'm sure I have saved myself hassles when people won't answer in store queries. That means I won't be buying from them. Customer service goes a long way in my book. I suppose advice after the fact isn't the most helpful but don't be too discouraged and if you have questions about anything ask here before you buy. -
Here you go. My photography skills leave a lot to be desired. I am having trouble getting all the "glass" I need for my wagons hence why these don't look quite finished. And just need hammers for the door handles and they'll be done. Have a second carriage underway but am short of red window frames and glass to finish that!

Crumbs. So I have just realised that it has been over a year since I started this post. Work on this railway is very slow indeed! I thought since I have finally been able to get some more parts for my rolling stock I'd post them here. So here is my tram - Not finished yet. The back seats need to be made and the front seats will all be tan. There are a couple of minor details that need to be obtained such as those roof slopes in tan are expensive and difficult to come by so I am still about 5 short and a few other cosmetic changes like the white plates in the back need to be dark green etc. My loco is pretty much done. Except for the exhausts at the top should be dark grey. They seem to be hard to find if they are actually available. And maybe the horns should be dark grey too. I have some more rolling stock built too which I'll just throw into this thread at a later date. So what do you think? I hope everyone here is having a merry Christmas! I'd better go sort out the presents for under the tree Nathanael

This is real neat. I think it is a fantastic improvement on your first version of this scene. Next thing you'll have a whole diorama set up around this!

Green 32x32 Baseplates Sold Out S@H
Pizzareno replied to KringlesBricks's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Why on earth would blue baseplates be discontinued? Do we know the reasoning behind this? -
Ah yes Lugbulks are great. I myself struggle to think what pieces may be useful in large quantities and then always wish I had gotten something else
-
This is truly super and I love how it is built in a classic style. Ah very well done. Excellent job. By the way that is a lot of tan train windows. Pricey? I find anything slightly rare in tan seems to cost heaps.

Wow, just wow! I haven't checked in on this thread in a while but you have a stunning array of models here. I think I'll have to try and build some over the weekend. Thank you for posting the .lxf files too. That is certainly very generous of you

Super Mega Steam Power Train Builder-- LEGO(R) IDEAS(tm)
Pizzareno replied to James Mathis's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Yeah I really like this set's concept. I'd buy a couple of these no problem. What do you reckon about the price point? I supported in the price bracket of between 100 and 200. I hope you can get the support you need. -
This is super fantastic! I want to favourite it somehow

I think it is a good idea to look at real life pictures to get inspiration. You don't have to try and build something that looks identical but it will give you an idea of what kind of things to add to your loco. You can see where there are grills down the side or covers to access the engine components. How the cab might differ from the rest of the body of the loco. Like others have said components on the roof to distinguish it as either electric or diesel. To add vents you can use headlight bricks and add a grill tile or these and the larger variants - http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=87087 These also make good grill bricks - http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=2877 You can use brackets too to add detailing at the sides or front and back. But there are heaps of great MOCs on here that can serve as inspiration too. Have a look and see how other people build their trains. Of course you probably won't build to the same standard straight away but the inspiration that can be gathered will be a great boost. At least it is for me And good work for your first effort. My first locomotives were pretty basic to start with but I was happy with them. I think you have a good base to work from. And the great thing with LEGO is you can build and rebuild and rebuild as you get better and decide how things can look different. Keep it up

MOC: CLASS ES (1973) - 4 WHEEL FLAT SLEEPER - New Zealand Rail
Pizzareno replied to Pizzareno's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Thank you everyone for your kind comments. @Redimus - Sometimes I'd like to weather my rolling stock but then I guess that wouldn't really be LEGO Maybe this is what the wagons looked like straight out of the workshop! @garethjellis - it handles points just fine. The wheels centres are only 12 studs apart. @snowvictim - The track is old dark grey. I only have 1 small loop of 9v track. Hope to buy some ME stuff when funds allow.
