  1. It's incredible. You don't really realise how much goes on in behind a model like this. I really like how you have done the windows. Nice work. Really nice work.
  2. Hey this is a nice solution. I really like it.
  3. Have a look at this page - http://www.pegnsean....ries/gordon.htm And if you scroll down to the "Fandom Corner" and click through and look at the kit bashing done by Gavin Rose it all explains quite nicely why Gordon has a 3 axle tender rather than 4. Or just check out this page - http://www.pegnsean....avin-gordon.htm But it shows that he wasn't purely an A3. He wasn't purely anything by the looks of it. But very interesting nonetheless.
  4. Has anybody ever used one of these http://www.shapeways.com/product/GCMU8C7DF/lego-rail3 Seems to achieve the same purpose.
  5. Nice work. Does the middle wheel float above the tracks? I just wonder cos it is sort of flanged on both sides so if it touched it could cause problems.
  6. This is just so epic. I like it lots I love how different it is, the lovely colours. Mmmm very good!
  7. Can you imagine the outcry today if LEGO showed images of stuff you could build but didn't put in the bricks or at least state what sets you must buy! I'm really enjoying reading this thanks for all your efforts
  8. Hi follks. Here is my final version of my Auster aeroplane. I have made several changes. Firstly I redesigned the tail wing as my first attempt bugged me so much. Criga88 suggested SNOT for the tail and I thought, "Oh yeah, what a good idea. Why didn't I think of that?" So it isn't that unstable and I'm much more happy with this than what I had the first time around. Phoxtane suggested red for a splash of colour and when I read that post I laughed because I had the same thing in mind to use red. Though he convinced me to put red on the wings and my wife agreed that it looked good like that. I'm pleased with how this came out. I also added an exhaust, navigation lights and the registration numbers. They are totally fictitious but someone may get the reference. View more pictures here - https://www.flickr.c...157651729932370 Enjoy and thanks for all the comments!
  9. This is great. You could make a Eurobricks review for this set!
  10. I think this colour scheme works really well. You've captured the shape really nicely. Even given me some ideas! Great stuff.
  11. This should explain it Aircraft nearly done. I'll visit the model shop sometime this week to get some numbering decals for the registration numbers then try and take some nice photos and upload them. Once I have finished should I start a new thread and put a link in here or just update this one with the final pictures at the top of the page? Because I can't change the topic title can I? I am hopeless at forum etiquette
  12. Hmm..... Ah ha! With just a wee bit of modification I can fit a minifig. Pity the panels don't come in a dual coloured mold. Thanks all for your kind comments. I think I may add some registration markings and maybe a splash of colour. I'll upload some more pics when done.
  13. Hello folks. I have tried to build an aeroplane. This as the title suggests is based on the many variants of the Auster aircraft from the middle of last century. Crumbs that sounds like ages ago. Anyway. This is my first real attempt at building an aircraft so I'm looking for comments and critique. I don't know much about them but I decided to build this as something different. I build mostly trains and find their shapes much easier to handle. I wanted to build something small at roughly minifig scale. I am reasonably happy with the fuselage and main wing and landing gear. The nose I think might need some work and the tail and rear wing kinda annoys me. But I have spent about 3 hours on the rear and I'm not sure how to get the shape looking more smooth. Also the tail isn't very stable and i like to build my models as solid as possible. Sorry for the pictures of the white on white. (I'd really like to build this in yellow) I took them in a hurry before work this morning so I could upload them when I had some downtime at work. I hope they are clear enough. Thanks for taking the time to look and comment. *Edit* Here is my final version. See below post for details of changes.
  14. This is fantastic This is great to see. I have been a Railway Series fan for nearly 30 years. I sometimes wonder if people remember or know where Thomas originally came from. This young generation watching the CGI stuff on TV are watching, in my opinion, a different character to the one in the books. Can I make just one small suggestion? Yes? Thank you. Gordon's buffers are oblong or square, not round But this is a super collection of models you have built here. Do you have a LDD file you are willing to share?
  15. This is looking great. I like the dark blue rather than black. Looks good. I assume that there is lots of detailing to be added yet?
  16. Wow! Heaps of lovely details. I am really loving seeing things built with limited parts like dark tan. I agree with jtlan that if you could slim down the siderods this for me would make it super excellent.
  17. It seems like you need a plan because to me reading through this it feels like this is going to get out of control very quickly. Maybe you should look at making your layout modular. This way you can plan and build a small section at a time. At first it can be just for display then slowly add on to it over time as funds and time allow until it is a fully functioning layout. I know the temptation is there to get something big going as soon as possible but from my experience the task can become overwhelming and destined to fail. I needed to just work on small sections little by little which gave me achievable goals. This is in relation to an OO gauge layout I still work on. Also look at books (or the internet, but I like books better ) for ideas on making your layout scenes prototypical. Have you decided on a particular country you'd like to model your trains after? Of course with narrow gauge just about anything goes at least it did in New Zealand a hundred years ago! I also build a lot of models in LDD now and in real with rainbow colours to make sure my idea will work before committing to buying parts from Bricklink or PAB. I also made this mistake by half building a model and then buying what I thought I needed from Bricklink then deciding that it was a stupid model and realising that I spent a bunch of money on what where the wrong things for what I wanted to do. So in summary planning is your best friend at this stage I hope that is of some help to you.
  18. All my rolling stock is 8 wide and this tank is a plate or two higher than my loading gauge but should look ok with everything else. Thank you :-) I find designing bogies one of the most difficult things. If anyone has some suggestions for a design or something they think would work well please let me know.
  19. Thanks everyone once again for the nice comments. It gives me great confidence to keep building and working to push myself to make better models. I have made some changes jtlan based on your suggestions. Incidentally the walkway was always grey or bley as they say. But I have put the piece you suggested in place anyway. The lighting makes the grey look much lighter than it actually is. I only have one dark grey round plate so that is why there is one grey one black in this picture. I definitely like the longer bogies though. They'll be staying. What do you reckon about the changes?
  20. Hi everyone. As people are probably aware I'm a slow builder and my creations take a long time to come together. I'm not altogether as creative and have the great skills that many on here have and show but I'm always pleased by the kind comments and great advice that I receive. So here is my latest wagon. Cos I'm quite proud of this one. It is roughly based off of this - I have a few pieces of rolling stock now. Enough I feel to be able to have a nice display. Here is a link to my Flickr if you feel like checking them out - https://www.flickr.c...s/42922809@N03/ Anyway I hope you enjoy and brick on and all that good stuff. P.S. if anyone is into cricket, I'm off now for 2 weeks to go watch some games at the World Cup. Go New Zealand!
  21. Very, very nice. Do you have more pictures of the train that is on the bridge?
  22. I wonder if most readers will get the jandals and socks reference. I laughed at that for a while I have wanted to build a DC for the longest time. I took a stab at it away back with 12v motors. I've got some pictures somewhere and can find one if you are interested. Colours aren't right though. It was 6-wide and a test to see if I could sort of make it work. Now I build in 8-wide I need to redesign the whole thing and make the bogies longer. Somehow even with all the great resources here and on Flickr I can never seem to make powered triple axle bogies work. I'd like to see what you come up with.
  23. Great stuff. It looks good. It is also nice to see more NZR, oops Kiwirail or Tranzmetro or whatever on here! Yay Do you have other New Zealand rolling stock?
  24. Superb! Is there any custom coloured items here or are they all standard parts that can be bought? I like this very much
