  1. Well if you don't have many parts yet but plan to get more, I highly recommend you start starting your parts early. I had around 100,000 parts in a couple huge boxes before I started sorting and it was a nightmare!
  2. If the volvo is a 50 euro set, my table's going into orbit!
  3. Colours are for highlighting important bits, or to make it festive!
  4. Are you sure it's not the receiver that's the problem? I doubt 3 remotes in a row would be faulty.
  5. It depends what you want to build. The "low" version is still very tall when you put the wheels on. The ridiculously tall version could only really be used for a monster truck for it to look right.
  6. Ok, so I stumbled across this ebay listing: http://www.ebay.co.u...-AAAOSw5IJWcHJs This has to be a scam, right? Quick update, 3 more have just sold, no replies to this topic yet, I hope I haven't sent you all into a trap! This very well could be a scam. 1. sell small $$ items to get feedback 2. obtain several hundred ++ feedback 3. ctrl+c ctrl+v pictures/info about $150 product 4. sell $150 product for $40 in unlimited quantity and with 3 week shipping time 5. transfer all money from paypal asap since you account is not on hold, yet. 6. ??? 7. profit
  7. It's funny, I don't remember there being this much love shown for the fire truck when people thought they were getting it. Now it's cancelled everyone loves it! Maybe if you showed your appreciation for it sooner you'de still be getting it? Personally I don't think I would have got it myself. It looked good with the clever panel use at the front but not that mechanically interesting.
  8. Yeah, certainly give us a shout. He is one (half baked idiot!) and we are many! Just remember guys (especially you Sariel), when showing your working places and MOC videos, do not give clues as to where you live.
  9. I know this is off topic, but we have to remember that for a future Technic competition here on EBs, build the best trebuchet! Ok, sorry, back on topic.
  10. Sounds like you need a hacker!
  11. Maybe not enough retailers placed orders to justify a mass release of the fire truck, or maybe it didn't fair well in end user testing. In either case, it may show up as an exclusive to Argos or something.
  12. No deformation that I could tell after disassembly but then the model was never fully complete and it wasn't built very long before I got board and moved on the the next idea. I only took pictures of this part for future reference as it worked really well.
  13. To test the weight I placed it on a bathroom scale, zeroed the scales and then placed my foot down on it and kept pressing until the little yellow springs were fully compressed. It took around 18-20 kgs to fully compress the springs. Not sure how accurate that method was but I'de say it was about right. the suspension was very strong but can also be scaled down nicely.
  14. I use 1x12 plates for leaf springs. On a large heavy truck build I used 2 of 1x10 (to make a 1x20), 1x12 then 1x8 stacked on top of each other, separated by smooth tiles so they could slide. this set up allowed the truck to handle a load of 18kg before the suspension was fully compressed.
  15. Yup, a custom sticker which looks like a bunch of bolt heads would look good. I hope you plan on swapping the 1x11 pneumatic for the 2x11 one to increase power and control. Also, it shouldn't be too difficult to add pneumatics to the forks, just have the hoses running on the outside like the arocs.
  16. "How it works" or "what it does"? They are two different things yo!
  17. No you don't. What reason do you have to think otherwise?
  18. Oh man, that guy deserves to be sold an megablocks whoopin! Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident. There have been past cases here of people DEMANDING instructions as if they are somehow entitled to them. Maybe it's because you can't give kids a good smack now without them crying to social services and having you arrested! Maybe it's because this younger generation are "developing" their social skills by sitting alone in front of a computer. You don't owe them anything.
  19. Pressure valve about to blow! Colour vomit SSSSUUUUCCCCKKKKSSSS! I hope these new colours are just because they are needed in another set later this year and they need to use up the run of parts in other sets. Having odd length axles be grey and the 2M axle red is already pretty bad (it was much better when they was all black) so I really hope this isn't the new norm. They have 1:1 diagrams on every page of the instructions whenever an axle is needed so why colour code them? To make them easier to find? Uh, I'de much rather spend a few seconds longer looking for parts than have the finished model look like a frickin pizza! 8480, the barcode truck and 8448 coloured their axles perfectly. All black except for where it wouldn't look good, in which case they were coloured the same as the main colour of the model (white, green and red respectively). That was perfect and as a child I never had a problem with building them, do that again TLG! At least do it for the larger models built by older kids. And ease up on the gears and pins too. All pins and gears should be either light grey, dark grey or black. No bright red or blue or tan or any of that. Gears, axles and pins show up all over the place and really should be neutral colours. Red, blue, brown and tan are definitely not neutral.
  20. Ah, well tell em the go kart is nice and it's great to finally get a speed changing gearbox after so many years but it could have done with a new size clutch gear for the gearbox!
  21. I thought that was the best compliment a salesman can get . Seriously though, even though I am not quite sold on the helicopter your reviews are very well done. You put a positive light on it whilst still being completely honest.
  22. Thank you Jim and Sariel for the reviews. I am actually slightly disappointed with the go kart, dragster and helicopter. Firstly the go kart. The steering looks really bad, especially for a go kart and there is no new clutch gear for the gearbox either, but at least it has a working speed changing gearbox, not seen in a long time and never in a set this small, so that is great. I still think I'll get one but it would have been much better with a new size of clutch gear as opposed to any of the other new parts seen so far for 2016. The dragster, I thought this was advertised as having a gearbox also, or when they said transmission they just mean a revolving shaft. Hmmmm. Oh well. The blue colour does not match the blue from previous sets like the motorcycle or hot rod so it makes for a very limited parts pallet for that colour and for a set this size it seems lacking in something. Two wheels driving a v8, steering, a lift up body and a lever that makes the whole car lift seems like it should be a good amount of functionality but it doesn't feel like it. Steering and moving engine are a given for this set, the lift up body is just a lever and the wheelie thingy is just weird. The helicopter. For me personally, a large number of panels is not a big selling point. Nor do I consider things that flap up and down or side to side when moved manually a technical function in a large Technic set. It's just a small detail. So take away the landing gear and moving flaps, we are left with two motorised doors, a winch and contrarotating blades. That is pretty good, but is it £100 good????? I would not call it an improvement over the previous large helicopter which had fully mechanised landing gear and tiltable rotor blades and a free wheeling mechanism which allowed the blades to free wheel to a stop rather than stopping abruptly. On the plus side, this new helicopter doesn't rely on linear actuators for it's functions which means you get a cool sliding mechanism for opening the cargo bay doors, and the mechanism for tilting the blades in the previous helicopter was inauthentic and just not very well done anyway. Hmmm, maybe this new helicopter is on a par with the previous large heli. I think, apart from the go kart, I'll save my pennies for second half.
