  1. Don't blame the graphic designers. They have a brief and they work to that... no designer working for a company like that phones it in or simply can't be arsed as it's late. The £650 Falcon is that price because of the build... the figures are so secondary they're almost irrelevant. Different themes and waves will have different requirements for the figures. I'm sure the designers would love to produce full designs with side leg printing and utilising dual moulding but if that's not what gets released in each set it's because the set plan doesn't include it. Battlepacks are created as a vehicle to sell figures therefore you get 4 of them for £12... £12 sets with builds give you 2 or 3 figures... £100 sets could have 3,4 or 5 figures depending on the build. If the Falcon had no figures it would still be worth the price.
  2. I've just got back form the Liverpool Lego store and the Falcon is an absolute monster. Even when looking at the Disney Castle etc the Falcon looks absolutely huge. The store is being allocated a very limited number of them for the first week of sale and the same limited number for the second week. I was given a 6 page leaflet on the Falcon which is quite nice. I bought the advent calendar and a keyring to get the Scarif Trooper and I was also given a free prize draw card to win the UCS Falcon but I didn't win... so I was given a 30611 R2D2 Polybag as a consolation prize... which I'm now selling as I already have one. The Falcon was getting a lot of attention and I could hear kids asking their dads if they were going to get it when it comes out... to the answer of 'No'. I'll be there on the 14th with a big 'Yes'. I didn't bother looking at anything else in the wave as I'm not bothering with ST sets... Next on my list after the Falcon is Yoda's Hut.
  3. It always amazes me when I see someone post on a thread that hasn't been above for seven years... How do you even find that thread? And really... just to say 'I really like this.'?! If a thread is that old and something makes the subject relevant again then I'm happy for a new thread to be opened... if there's no interest other than one person commenting it'll die again... If I was looking at something like the SW forum lots of things are picked up on by Mods and joined into existing threads like the general question thread. I think that's a good way of doing it. There was some threads recently commented on and it looks like the user just searched a keyword in the forum search and then made a 'Nice MOC' comment on each one regardless of age... that just seems silly to me.
  4. I have a converted garage that's my office. The Falcon will be there anyway... I can always sleep on the sofa there.
  5. Marriages come and go but you normally don't get a second chance at a UCS MF! ;) Ha... brave words from me but I've still got to have the conversation with my wife when I wheel this through the door!
  6. I'll be speaking to the manager at the Liverpool store to check how many they're getting in and gauge what time to get there based on that. It's not going to be like the Yellow Submarine release with a queue but there may be one or two people ready to get it. Hopefully I'll be wheeling that beast back up to my car 10 mins after opening.
  7. Possibly. I've never been that sure how it works. Also probably not the best place to discuss. :) Lets just hope he's able to carry on doing what he does and isn't put off by stuff like this.
  8. He may have revenue from his YouTube account that helps pay for the sets... that way the hobby funds itself.
  9. Definitely worded as though it's a real thing to me. Doesn't strike me as a joke of any kind.
  10. Do it! Let me know when it is and I'll pop down and take a photo of her face as you leave so you have it recorded for posterity! Well it seems I'm completely wrong. I've just stumbled across the Facebook post and they've very clearly stated that's how you take it out of the shop. I'm going to enjoy doing that on the 14th. Good job I've cleared out a lot of Lego in the last 6 months or my wife would be filing for divorce.
  11. Yeah... that whole box thing looks like a mock up rather than an actual release crate. I doubt they'd be sticking a handle on it that way and the logos actually look stuck on or photoshopped.
  12. Well it'll be revealed in 3 days so no need to tease then. They're just making a big deal out of them releasing the largest set they've ever done... to 95% of the Lego buying public they don't care if Nien Nunb is included or if Han has side printing on his legs with dual moulding. They want to get people excited about going into a Lego store and go 'Oooooooohhhhhhhh' at the largest set they ever made. We're the ones excited that it's the Falcon.
  13. Nah... we've got the printed arms for the ESB version... it's the printed arms they'll put in the UCS Sail Barge that'll be the killer!
  14. I really don't think that there's something 'much, much bigger' than the UCS Falcon. Lego are making a big deal out of this being the largest set ever with a series of teases... Do we really think there's something 'much, much bigger' coming after?! I think we can safely say THAT is the bigger set... and he's probably been working on various other sets that will come out before then. If Force Friday is this week then that's when the large set will come out followed by the much, much bigger set on 1st October.
  15. Let's not start jumping on Cloud City... There are some very reliable people who have brought us info throughout this year as they have every year... and there's been no mention of Cloud City at all. People might think it's harmless to take a guess at something like that but all it takes is another site to give it a mention and state 'sources' and it snowballs. If BrickCommander is working on a large set it could just be one of the larger TLJ sets as well as the UCS MF. Nothing more. And as tired as I am of the perennial newcomers with a host of 'leaks' let's not give someone the oxygen even if they're responding to other people's posts. They'll get bored of trolling and go away... if, somehow, they start getting new things right then fine. It wasn't that long ago that Delta Customs was considered a bit of a troll but who seems to be a trusted source on various themes these days. Personally I'm enjoying this huge and eagerly anticipated set being revealed in just 3 days and all we've had is a likely but unconfirmed image from a retailer advert in China. Isn't it nice to have something as a surprise again? We get so used to knowing every set months in advance and even seeing images of everything that by the time things come out we're already guessing about the next wave or the wave after that... Let's enjoy this one and let Lego show us everything as it was intended.
  16. They were close enough. Changing to an existing hairpiece isn't something we couldn't already do... if this is the level of change we'd get them those that want new designs and big 'upgrades' would be disappointed. That said, it's all total conjecture at this point. Who know what size of sets or how many we'd get.
  17. Well Harry and Voldemort were released last year in Dimensions and they didn't change at all from the 2010 versions. Hermione was slightly different in the Dimensions release but still worked as a little update. Dementors are crying out for the Spectre piece but we could speculate all day about how the would update all the figures if they took things to the TLBM level of moulds etc. Most of them do still work pretty well.
  18. I always felt it was a massive shame to not get Sirius Black as a figure other than the iffy version in the prison robes. Both him and Tonks would be something I'd hope for. I really don't think we're going to get a set with 25 figures in it though.
  19. It won't have Lego on the bricks... you'll be able to tell it apart should it manage to make it's way into a big pile... If you can't tell then what's the issue? I'm with Pep. Let the kid play.
  20. A few years ago I saw an exhibition at the museum in Liverpool and they had a couple of sets displayed in a case... after that I managed to pick up everything from the last two waves including Diagon Alley. If they bring us anything Hogwarts related I hope it's something that could incorporate the last Hogwarts and BOH sets... I think there's definitely room to have the greenhouses included etc. Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw are musts though... Without Luna in her uniform it all feels incomplete. ...and yes... I know this is the costume from the Hogwarts Express set...
  21. Just another example of the 'desperate for a scoop' nature of things. Maybe Promobricks should pay more attention to what they're posting... unless they hash tagged 'joke' at the end because they knew they were wrong but still wanted to post something Falcon related.
  22. The people that originally brought eh info about the Falcon to us have said that they've been led to believe that there will be figures from ESB along with Sequel Trilogy characters. Updated of Bespin Han is probable along with Hoth Leia or Bespin Escape Leia. Anything after that is guesswork or wish listing. I think we all like the idea of people who have crewed the Falcon being included with the set. All the ANH figures were released with the Death Star and everyone except for Han and Leia were released in the Landspeeder and Skiff sets.
  23. I've had plenty of old figures that still have the print on them... of course they'll wear over time but Lego obviously feel the quality outweighs the durability. If they're treated as toys and played with then they'll scratch and rub as all toys will. If they're treated as collectibles and stored they'll look perfect.
  24. I'm still not convinced that pad printing is less durable. The people that normally tell you that are digital printers. Yes you can rub print off if you tried but if you're doing that there's no point in owning something. UV has the coating that hardens it and protects it but Thats also the thing that raises the print. I'd personally take pad over digital every single time but if you only wanted 10, 20 or even 50 of a figure it's an expensive route to go down. OLS was probably the best digital printer I've seen but even then I'd say they were inferior to pad. Either way it depends on how good the artwork you're using is. You can have 10 colour pad printing from an experienced printer but if your artwork is poor then it'll look rubbish. There are pad printers that will do small runs for you but you need to carefully consider what you want and how much you're prepared to pay for it. It's not cheap.
  25. I think people need to take a step back and think about what this service offers. This is a toy maker letting you buy individual parts from sets along with ordering replacement parts free of charge if they were missing. I can't think of another toy maker offering this service. If a part isn't there it can't be described as disgraceful. There's a sense of entitlement that can run through this forum that staggers me at times. 'Adults' throwing tantrums because things aren't leaked quickly enough and now this...
