I think the SY Lab is only going to be around $15. I'd be surprised if they put it at a higher price point. The Wolverine Chopper Showdown cost me £7.

Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?
Robianco replied to KingPixels's topic in Community
This is what I used Mr Fantastic: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3626cpb563 Susan Storm: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3626bpb416 Johnny Storm: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3626bpb288 -
I will always buy official Lego sets and figures before any bootleg. That said, the bootleg companies have brought some interesting figures not produced by Lego. I think most of those things have been discussed over at the minifigure thread in the Custom Workshop. My interest is more in the quality of bricks and construction of things produced by Sheng Yuan, Decool and Bozhi over any desire to have them replace genuine Lego products. I picked up a Bozhi clone of the Wolverine Chopper Showdown set as it had the Wolverine figure in a yellow costume rather than the bright light orange of the official set. I know people have preferred the Christo Power Man figure as it's also in the yellow rather than bright light orange. While the chopper looked identical the quality of the bricks wasn't... but they were very close to the Kreo bricks I've encountered. I picked up a Kreo Halo set as it was reduced to £1 and I just wanted to see what it was like... the bricks themselves feel very sharp and almost brittle (although not in the sense that they'd just break up)... and this sometimes made the fit of things a little harder than with regular Lego bricks. Bozhi felt the same and some of the build made the connection of the bricks a little difficult. Sheng Yuan have vastly improved their QC on the figures and are producing unique moulds now as well as prints... their Hulk with the posable head is a good example of this. With that in mind I was interested in their new range of Iron Man sets as they're not clones of Lego sets. The only review I've seen of one of the transformation platforms didn't paint a particularly good picture of the quality of the design... especially the play feature which meant the whole platform was almost floating and not very secure. Whether the lab set they're releasing has any unique armour versions to make it a worthwhile purchase (as they're essentially very cheap) is another matter. If not then the lab is easy enough to recreate with genuine Lego. One thing Sheng Yuan are doing with this new range is clones of Batman sets with just Batman, a single other character and the vehicle such as The Bat with just Gordon and the Bat Vehicle but no Bane or Tumbler or the Mr Freeze set with just Aquaman and the Batsled(?). They're also apparently including a clone of the X-Jet in this range although this is a complete clone of the Lego set with all mini figures and the Sentinel. One thing I'm not so sure on though is the quality of the brick plastic. Sheng Yuan have a pretty decent ABS material on their minifigures and their moulds are very close to Lego... whether that manifests itself into decent brick moulds I'm not so sure. This difference in quality will make it easy to spot a fake from a genuine set even by sight before ever have to actually touch it.

There are so many fantasic details on this... the lantern hanging down from the back... the skirted framework... the scaffolding on the rear section... the telescope/cannon... the armchair with controls and compass. It's fantastic! I absolutely love it! Great work!

Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?
Robianco replied to KingPixels's topic in Community
I think once someone takes the plunge... That's assuming they do... And picks up those sets then I think it will be worth opening. I plan on picking up the official X Jet soon... I think any discussion needs to have a comparison rather than just a 'look at this' type of thing. -

I'd still ask them about it. I saw one the other day that apparently didn't ship to the UK... But it then had shipping costs and times to the UK! -
Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?

Understood. I was originally interested in whether there were any new Iron Man variants in there but I can see where actual sets would muddy the waters on this thread. I think opening a separate thread would be best although I think that should only be for a comparison on the quality of the bricks. -

I'd have said it was the other way round... except for the earlier figures with the rounded toes Sheng Yuan have been far more accurate that Decool who have always been prone to quality control issues and sometimes iffy printing. I'd take a SY range over a Decool range anytime. That said... I can't see either of then picking up a range that's long retired... as much as I'd love some new HP figures I have all of the released ones and I can't see why they'd for them. It was from the booklet that Digger318 got in the SY304 set that showed the other sets in the range. I'll try and post a link to the image. -

I see SY305 is the Iron Man Lab rather than the 2 platforms that are on AliExpress (SY303 & SY304)... Sheng Yuan have also cloned the X-Jet... SY308. They've also cloned a couple of older Bat Vehicles too. -
I don't think there's been mention of it since another member apparently saw it in a release list at a store in the US for mid-august. I think after that we assumed it would be revealed there. When do they normally do these reveals? Is it just on the stand as people arrive or are they something that happens throughout the con?

I'm not sure exactly how they can do that as most people who order these simply receive them in a padded envelope which probably just has 'toy' on the customs label. I can't remember ever seeing anything marked with Decool or Sheng Yuan. It's not like were able to walk into a retailer here and pick it up from the shelf. -
This set is great. Really good to see a Bat variant that people are happy with... and it's in a set that's only £20! I like the Sinestro too... I agree that I think the hair is like that to emphasise the forehead maybe? We can always mod the Bat hairpiece to paint the ears and we're good to go. Looks like I'll have to pick a couple of these up and make myself a John Stewart too. As much as this set is good... it really excites me as to what they're planning for the rest of the wave... How many of those new variants and figures... especially in the larger sets in the wave. I'm definitely thinking Watchtower now based on the comment about the theme being more varied this time round. Interested to see if the packaging has a GL logo on it rather than a Batman one... seeing as he's the supporting character on it.

Not forgetting there are spin-off movies planned too... including one for Fett himself. Star Wars is such a complex universe now that with a designated number of sets per year there will always be waves that are heavily focused towards a particular era and it will be difficult to fit it all in.. I'm glad we're getting some really nice OT sets at the moment... I still think OT will be the staple until the ST (Can we call it the Sequel Trilogy?) really hits. Then we'll see just how many things cross over from the OT such as the Falcon and Slave 1. I think the amount of Rebels sets we get will be based on it's success as a TV series... then Lego has it's own Yoda Chronicles as a device to release things... The odd PT item is still possible but maybe few and far between. Showing us a Rebels set makes sense as I think we're all expecting a lot more OT for Winter this year... and maybe a couple more items for Summer of 2015... I'm not sure of the planned release date for Episode VII from the top of my head but I can't see them delaying the wave and it all depends on how much they want to leak from the film. If it's a December release then Winter 2015/16 will be majorly Ep VII. Then again we've had 2 Rebels sets in the UK months before the programme will air and now we've seen this one.

It's a steampunk X-Wing... that's Star Wars-y enough for me.

Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?

That's what I did... That black Supes torso is pretty good... Just add an official head and hair with Zod's legs and you're done. Same with changing Bizarro's legs and maybe dropping on some Lego hair. The capes could do with replacing too. -
I think that's the four of them... one each for Super Heroes, one for Hobbit and one for the Lego Movie.

The eBay seller is the same guy who had the Future Foundation figures first. The AliExpress seller has both of the sets in stock for £10.29 each... which is less than the eBay guy. They look quite interesting although I'm not sure which suits are included... they don't look particularly unique. Let's wait and see what Decool do. -
I agree... I'm hoping that the larger run of 1750 means I'll be able to pick one up for less than £75 in the aftermarket. Even if I have to be patient. My accountant kind of gave me the nod to get the Tumbler (and possibly Slave 1 if it's around) through the business as 'more office decoration' today so I'm very happy about that. Don't think I can cover eBay costs for things like this though! :( I'm looking forward to any of the new figures on this poster... although from now on we'll all be trawling these posters for stuff! One thing I noticed today... the older poster with all the Bat vehicles on it... the 66 Batmobile on there was the SDCC mini release wasn't it? It's just that now you can see the scaling properly. How did we all miss that?

I'm thinking that ship is inherited or taken from someone and painted up rather than an original Wookie design. I'm still not decided on whether to get the Rebels sets but each one has been quite nice in it's own right.

Oh well... After the initial rush I hope the larger run of figures make this remotely affordable... Or our eastern friends get to work.
