Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?

I think the fact there's a Rocket mould now is promising with regards to the SDCC version. -

I must admit it's an interesting looking figure but I wouldn't know Ultraman if he bit me on the backside... ;) I assume he's a Japanese hero with a long TV history? -
Love it... I had quite a few of those Minirigs for figures such as Bossk to use as their ships when I was a kid. I think I'm definitely building this one to go alongside the Troop Transport if that really is like the old Kenner set.

I think you need more details

The whole build looks fantastic! As much as there's so much to see I agree that my favourite little detail at the moment is the landing gears... there's a real sense of suspension with them. I also like the fact that Obi Wan now looks like Ulysses from Ulysses 31!

Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?

Quality wise I think the armour, weapons etc on the Lele set looks pretty good... probably almost identical to SY. Which in turn is pretty similar to the main US makers. The figures will always be a bit iffy and the heads will normally need replacing on all of them. I wasn't going to pick up the latest Decool set as I have all of the figures as either legitimate Lego or pad printed customs but there are a couple of things that would make it worth it such as the shield for Taskmaster and the weapons etc. Can anyone tell me if Lego has produced a tile printed with the Ace card that Bullseye has or are they custom? If custom that would be another thing to take from the set. The Hulkbuster certainly looks interesting but I think there'll be an official one next year with capacity to fit Tony into so I'll wait for that. -
Plenty of them here in Liverpool... It's just knowing how to drive on them... here in the UK traffic gives way to people already on the roundabout whereas in Europe I think people on the roundabout give way to people entering them... that's where the problems arise. Any driving through France will give you all the confidence you need as a driver... especially through Paris. Get through some of those roundabouts or some of those multi lane arterial roads where you need to be 4 lanes over in 50 metres and you'll be fine after that! :)

Transport with Stormies sounds like a must and those Shadow Guards do indeed look cool... I'm so glad I don't collect PT or CW stuff... My head hurts just reading about the clone variants... It must be a nightmare to keep up with and collect them! Good luck to all you chaps!

Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I've never had a problem with either site and Chinese sellers... Items can take from 10 days to get here to the UK but every single order I've made has arrived fine. I think a lot of the issues to Ali were that people thought they were buying legitimate goods really cheap then found they were sometimes buying counterfeit or items with iffy qc... We already know exactly what we're getting and are aware of the possibility of iffy qc and that is balanced out by the low cost. -

Someone used a Bard the Bowman head and brasso'd off the bottom part of the beard just leaving the moustache and it works really well. -

Well there are multiple sellers on AE with them so I'm assuming they're real. It's normally a week or two... maybe a month before they really start to hit eBay. -
Erm... How about order those extra parts for $150 and make one! ;)

They're new to me... Most of those look like clones of Eclipse figures... Artemis, Aqualad etc Is the blue Nightwing a clone of the old Lego version? I think it's a new version with the more up to date muscle torso... it also looks more cyan that blue on there too. -
I think the tag on the Darkseid bigfig is from a studio/company that makes custom vinyl moulds of figures and paints them... I think the original Thing bigfig was done by them which was subsequently cloned. I think they're US based although I could be mistaken. They can normally be found on eBay. They're not far eastern bootleg brands.

I just want to see the hangar design now with each of the ships in place. I hope the OP is able to put something together that he's genuinely proud of. Like any hobby I think it's important to do something you like rather than something you hope someone else will like. Even if there was nobody else in this thread who liked 7140 (but there are plenty of people who do) then you shouldn't take that as any reason not to build the hangar with your choice of X-Wing in there.

That's close enough for me!

I can understand where things can go wrong when it comes to lots of detail in the design of minifigures. I think it shows more with some custom designed figures... when people don't follow Lego's design guidelines when it comes to things like line thickness, use of colours, gradients etc. I actually think the Luke in the Ewok Village is one of the best minifigures we've had in recent years... there's just something about the black costume with the turned down collar that just makes the figure... it's a perfect representation of Luke in ROTJ. I'm also a big fan of the Rebel pilots. I think Lego has pretty much always got the helmets right... even the early Biggs helmet still looks right... no need to change it at all... but I like the differences between the regular pilots and the Hoth pilots now too.

I'd say the OP was well aware of his intentions at the start of the thread and, if anything, the title was a little provocative... I'll still give him the benefit of the doubt on this as English obviously isn't his first language. As a discussion topic it's all seemed rather pointless as he knows exactly what he wants and why he wants it... which is fair enough. If anything I'm confused by the motive behind it... Just buy the sets... build the hangar... take the photos... display it. Everyone wins.

I must admit I hadn't really considered the possibility of more Tatooine-ness with the T-16. I really thought the Sandcrawler was the last real chance of picking up anything to do with the Lars Homestead but seeing as it was parked there there's now the faint whiff of a possibility of Beru... or at least Tuskens. Biggs from the deleted scene would be a bit special too... There seems to be a bit of a mirror between some of the things were seeing now and Kenner releases. The Transporter being one of them... Zeb as the original concept Chewie... I just like the idea of that version of Biggs. Disney binning those versions of the films actually goes a long way to them reaffirming my thoughts that it's a good thing that they're looking after SW now. Pretty brave of them to just say the original versions are what matters... anything else can be forgotten. Puts Lucas in his place a little... despite him being $4billion richer for it.

I've never felt the need to do that but if you can find them cheap enough then it's always an option. I've updated a couple of figures on the odd occasion that I've ordered more than one set so it can certainly be worth it. -

It might be worth checking Youtube for Digger318 and take a look at his reviews. I think he may have reviewed the DBZ figures at some point. -
Best Minifigures of 2014? (LEGO and Custom)
Robianco replied to DarkKnight7's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I know you're not fishing for compliments so I'll happily give them... Best figure of 2014 for me is the American Super Soldier. For several reasons. It's not something that's been lifted from a game design and therefore doesn't use the standard muscle torso as it's base. The design and print of the figure is superb and negates the need for any other version of this figure that's currently available. It also give us a definitive figure of something that really should have been released by TLG. I think Winter Soldier is probably the best film in the MCU so far. By the way... Arachnid and Curator ordered. ;) -
