I know one guy who bought several of the architecture studio 21050 sets, gave one to each 'team' in his group and gave out awards based on design and complexity. I know it's out of fashion in many American institutions, but he had winners and losers. He gave them some time to look at the very informative book that's included with 21050.

Congrats, looks good. Would also look good with sand green masonry bricks. They're fairly reasonable in price.

LEGO Architecture 2015 News & Discussion

I was guessing September first for the USA. Does this set lend itself to expansion? From what I've seen, it's a slice (albeit a good one) of the actual Louvre. -

Back from exile. I like this set. But, the criticism of the pointy end of the building is fair. I wish about once a year we'd see a large version of an architecture set released. Like what they did with the Sydney Opera House. Wouldn't a 3000 piece FLW house be great? -
Very nice. Champions!

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Well, I don't reply to every post that I don't agree with. That would be too time consuming. I'm giving myself a 90 day self imposed EB suspension. Logging off. Bye. -

god, I love the internet. Sigh. Sorry I even posted it. The arguments are so weak and motivation so transparent that it's just not worth the time. Back to building now that I've honored my promise to the moderator. -

I don't agree with what you've said, but that's the beauty of opinions. To each, his own. Now, back to playing with my PR. -
Agreed. You may need to get it while its still 'reasonable' on the secondary market. While some didn't like the interior, that's easily remedied and the outside makes for a great corner building. I haven't seen it at the Lego store or lego.com in the U.S. for several months.

Nice. Very nice. I just finished a row of seven 'brownstones' based on the PS. In doing that, I had to supplement with parts from my inventory. We're you able to building this solely with parts from two 31036s or did it take some extra parts? Anyway, it looks great and fits right in. Nice detail.

Get the pet shop first. It's the oldest and probably has the shortest remaining shelf life. Plus, it's one of the best modulars with a lot of MOC possibilities. Pet shop. Really a 'no brainer'.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Notwithstanding all off the tired, but probably accurate, arguments about approval chances for a set of this size, I think it would be helpful if all fans of modular buildings got on board and supported this one. It's obviously not mine since the skill level to create it is light years beyond my abilities. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/36775 -
I supported it, but...........while I haven't checked on it it a while, I think it's competing (for lack of a better word) with an outstanding Barnes Noble/Starbucks building that's much more in the modular building style. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/36775

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

I was careful to say 'rumored'. My info was based on a Lego store employee comment and some Internet information. Neither of which I'd bet the house on, so to speak. -
Nice work, MorrisMethod. I'm doing something similar. I've accumulated thousands of spare parts over the past couple of years. I'm building a street of row houses based on a PS template. So far, I've got a gray, a green, a blue, a white and a green/yellow all built off the inspiration provided by the PS 16 wide residential building. There's a bit of a 'mix and match' with some of them, but it's better than letting the parts sit in a plastic storage bin.

Not for me. I snore. With that said, wishing you luck in finding a roommate. But, since I'm not going, can't help. And, even if I was, I'm too old to spend the night in a hotel room with a stranger. Not like I haven't done it before, but it's no longer the 70s and way back then I always had to ask my 'roommate' if she was a cop.

Nice, classic. Bet he has a big catfish on his line. Really enjoyed the fact that your work represents such a classic and in such a great way.

I got the instructions from the authors off of eBay. It's been a while, but I've frequently seen them on eBay. Not expensive, good instructions, worth the money. -

I'm to the point with modulars where my main concern is subject matter. For that reason, I would like to see one building devoted to one theme. Museum, school, library, hospital.....all fine with me. Once TLG gives me the template, I can modify it to make it suit my city. Story line, playabilty.....TLG, knock yourself out.....I've learned from the last two modulars that I can turn whatever you make into something I want. -

I sure wish Lego would give us something in this series to talk about. -
Speaking from experience, you'll get a lot more use from Lego than you will from most of the stuff your wife put on the wedding registry. But, look at the wedding registry stuff as an investment. In a few years, you can sell a lot of it at a garage sale, take the proceeds and visit the lego store.

Tell Emmet the driver is in the union and he's on break. Not to worry, the emergency brake is on and the driver will return shortly.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

I'm currently working on a mod of the apartment side of PS. The primary colors are the light yellow bricks you see in GE and the sand green from the Haunted House. The green is the primary color. I got two HHs just for the green bricks. The mod has bay windows on both sides of the front door. So, it's going to be about 40% wider than the original PS apartment. I also have an extra Brandenburg Gate set from the Archetecture series that I will use as a source of trim/detail pieces as it contains a lot of sand green pieces. We'll see how this works out. I'm building a residential street based on the PS. Three buildings are done, two are the PS version and one is the PS version done in sand blue. The fourth is the sand green one that's a work in progress. I want upwards of eight residential buildings, most on a 16 width plate, when I finish. Thankfuly the hinge plates required for the bay windows were available in both gray and yellow on eBay in large quantities for a reasonable price. Plus, the shipper had free shipping and I received the parts in 3 days. Now, I know, I need to get around to the Flickr account.........
