  1. There are no real bars left where I live near Atlanta. Everything is like Herky described. A family restaurant with a bar area.
  2. I'll believe it when I see it. But, the speculation is fun...... Wow, way to open a can of worms. :-) Can't wait to see where this goes........
  3. Yep, seems it's time for a residential only building. That would be great. The possibility of combining multiple modular brownstones is very appealing to me.
  4. I supported it. If it doesn't make it, buy a bunch of parts and sell it yourself. I'd buy at least two of them. Good work!
  5. Well, come to think of it.....and they did it without a multiple paragraph post allegedly outlining TLGs secret marketing, sales and distribution plans and strategy.
  6. Interesting. How would that work? Thanks!
  7. Exactly! But, in my opinion, we are in the minority.
  8. I've only been an AFOL for about two years. But, it seems like we are in the midst of a drought as far as new products for AFOLs are concerned. Of course, when I started, I didn't have anything and there was soooooo much to buy. Maybe I'm all caught up. Maybe it's just me and my limited experience. Whatever, I could certainly use some definitive news on the next modular.
  9. The generic version would have received my vote. With that said, I do spend $10 a day or more at starbucks. It's 1/2 mile from my house. Besides, I don't see starbucks fans stuffing the ballot box, so to speak, like fans of a certain college mascot might do. The people I know at starbucks and socialize with don't have lego very high on their priority list and couldn't care less about Lego Ideas.
  10. I don't think it would be terrible. I think I would go ahead with the build using black with an eye towards eventually finding another color for the roof. Again, not bad in black.....as an interim measure. Keep checking online auctions, too. In one of my other hobbies, I got an old radio valued at over $2000 for an ebay 'buy it now price' of $475. While it wasn't as good of a deal, I got a complete used CC with box and instructions on ebay. So, check online auctions on a regular basis for parts. There are still deals to be had out there.
  11. I would encourage modular enthusiasts to also support this lego ideas project... https://ideas.lego.com/projects/79922
  12. While I do like the museum, it lacks that certain whimsical factor that belongs in a modular building. It seems closer to what you'd see in the archetecture series. More true to what you would see in real life if you were looking at a real museum. I would like to see the museum become a reality. It wouldn't take much to add those whimsical, colorful elements that would make it fit right in with the rest of the modular series.
  13. Just as many didn't agree with my comments on the PR, I don't agree with many of the negative comments about the museum. It could use more color, but other that that it's pretty good. Just a question of personal taste. Anyway, I don't see the museum making the cut as far as being selected for production by lego. It's simply too complex for a lego ideas offering. Looking at 10190 MS, it was about half the number of pieces that would be required for the museum. I'll probably have to use the hundreds and hundreds of similarly colored bricks from my GE project and make another one of my lame attempts at an MOC. The subject this time will be the museum.
  14. Looks like I'll finally have an interior for one of my MOC projects.... http://www.neoape.com
  15. Like I said, my source is the internet. So, my source isn't all that reliable. If you have another, great.
  16. I think the fact the museum could be a modular series release and could be priced at modular levels would limit the first day rush. If lego already has plans for the next several modulars (and I've read that they do.....source.....'the internet'.....so,it must be true), it's hard to figure where the museum would fit in unless TLG is willing to think out of the box.
  17. At one end of the spectrum is a MOC and at the other end is the actual lego product.......in this case the GREEN grocer. The use of blue bricks, or any other color, means you are moving closer to a MOC than you are a green grocer. Nothing wrong with that, but just sayin'...........
  18. I think that's a valid criticism. While the buildings don't need to all look alike, there's a certain style that one associates with the modular series. Color and texture are two of those style components. While the texture is fine on the museum, it could use a little more color. I've recently done a couple of MOCs. One is a train terminal lobby building and one is a Mini Cooper dealership. Both were done solely with medium gray, dark gray and white pieces. While I'm happy with the results, they don't blend in easily with the rest of my modulars.
  19. Thanks. Similar piece count to TH if they can keep it at 2700. I'd pay $250US for it as shown in Lego Ideas (provided the rear wall was included).
  20. The history museum is outstanding. I wonder what would be cut from the Lego Ideas version if it went into production. Any idea how many pieces it is in its current form? I have to admit that it also has the type of interior details that I consider real value and worth paying for.
  21. I'm just the general contractor on my MOCs. I leave the interior to the buyer/tenant. :-)
  22. Thanks, but I was looking more for an 'apples to apples' comparison.
  23. In searching ebay completed auctions, I've seen complete, used CCs going for less than $600US. No box, but all original parts. Is it still cheaper to bricklink the CC?
  24. Okay, so you've just started another rumor. :-)
