  1. As others have said, the roof is the stand out part, it looks excellent! The minifig legs for the cross beams is also a really nice touch! Using the palisade pieces for the wall adds a great texture and mixing dark brown and reddish brown gives a nice colour combination. The landscape though is a little bit cluttered - there are too many colours mixed up, not helped by the yellow and green border. Normally in landscaping you want to try and only pick two or three colours and colour block them in a natural way. It's a nice build though, well done!
  2. A gorgeous little scene, it reminds me of a Lilliput Lane model, it's cute in a way. Great stonework around the bottom and chimney, and love the chicken coop. I like how the building is angled off the grid, nice touch. The stream is the weakest part of the build, it feels a bit tacked on. Overall great work!
  3. No worries! I will stick around but I probably won't be in this forum every day so feel free to @ me if you want me to look at something (or send me a PM). I've followed you on Flickr and you're welcome to browse my GitHub - the "photos-categoriser" project is the one I was talking about earlier. I haven't done much on it in ages. Will be interested to see how this project progresses!
  4. Ha! Yeah I totally get the "because I can attitude", my current side project is building a website served on my home LAN which will allow my wife to undertake searches on all of our photos - it will do face and image content recognition (I'm a data scientist) so she doesn't ask "Remember that photo of our daughter on a slide", she can search the keywords and it will find the images! I'll share the GitHub repository later when it's a bit more advanced. Rather than using websockets you'd be better off using MQTT - set up a broker and make the web app send messages to the broker and the EV3 a subscriber. The architecture handles packet loss and general web instability a lot better and it's used a lot in IOT applications. Whatever you do, good luck!
  5. A few immediate questions spring to mind: There's nothing in the rules that explicitly prohibits force sensitive characters, what are the rules around that? How will players have XP at the start of the game? Presumably this is carried over from SoNE 1? The rules state that "Set-Up began by each faction choosing 1 planet to be their starting point.". However, the "Factions planet IP values" sheet shows 50 IP points on multiple planets per faction. Can you elaborate on this please? In the FAQs it says you don't need to create a sig fig, but there is a character creation form and the character must have a speciality skill. This seems a bit contradictory? For the character speciality skills are there levels within each skill, or is it simply a binary have it/don't have it? (e.g. can I reach Explorer level 5 or is it just Explorer or not?) Thanks for clarifying!
  6. Fascinating topic! I work with Python on a daily basis but within the Windows ecosystem, so not that familiar with Linux in general. Why would you want your EV3 to talk to a .NET API? Would you store the commands within the API and then create something that consumes the JSON in a flexible manner so you can just generate the commands dynamically?
  7. So, @MaasEffekt has done a nice little scene as a freebuild for this scoring round. How is everyone else getting on? I've had a few family issues to deal with so haven't done much building recently. Hopefully change that this week!
  8. Lovely little underwater scene, the orange goes surprisingly well in this context. Really like the concept of a merman culture in Varlyrio, will be interesting to see how that integrates with the wider families. Look forward to seeing more from you!
  9. One of your best works David! Love the stone work on the house and that roof, they go great together. Lovely fig placement, really like the guys fixing the cart, they are perfect. Amazing work!
  10. Lovely little scene! Love the tree and the snow covered branches, and the lean-to is a nice touch. The minifig placement adds a lot of depth to the scene. The stones added to the tan path look a bit unnatural - I think if these had been blended in at the same level as the path they might have looked more convincing. Good work!
  11. Fantastic work gentlemen (and lady! ). A great variety of builds and it was nice to see what life in Kaliphlin is like. Now Varlyrio needs to catch up!
  12. Well, I did like the blue last time I just felt with it in the walls and building it was a bit overpowering. It's less so here since it's all part of the same building. It depends on what kind of phone you have - I think I saw from the original EXIF data on Flickr you had a Samsung Galaxy J3 - if so then this guide is a good starting point. Ideally you want to be able to manually set the aperture and ISO manually, leaving the exposure time being set by the camera. I use a Nikon D3300 (I used Amazon.de since I believe you're partially based in Germany) which gives full control - if you're feeling flush the latest model in this line is the D3500 but it's a little more expensive. Depends how deep Santa's pockets are?
  13. Ah, now that you mention it I do see it. Obviously my eyes are terrible! Haha
  14. Nice little scene, love the cart and the half stud offset wall. The wall looks like sand green to me, the light aqua isn't obvious?! Maybe it's my old eyes.
  15. Lovely work @Gideon! Love the lighting, can almost feel the warmth through my monitor. The fig posing and pile of bottles are perfect too. Great work!
  16. Really amazing work! Love the colour choices and architecture. The minifig mucking out the goat stables has the perfect expression!
  17. Lovely colours and great ramshackle representation of the building. Shows that great MOCs don't always need to be big. My only minor nitpick is that your player characters always seem to have the same pose each MOC, it'd be nice if they had some travelling bags, horses, or whatever to make them feel a bit more involved in the scene.
  18. This is a stunning MOC! I really like the blue, it works well with the light bley and the brown. The architecture is amazing, love the doors at different heights and the steps up to the entrance, looks very natural. The landscaping is really well done overall, my only nitpick is the regular tan is a little bright for an otherwise muted colour palette. I had a look at the photos on Flickr, and I know you've said you're not totally happy with them so here's a few thoughts as to how they can be improved. The reason the overall shot is blurry is because it doesn't have sufficient depth of field - generally, you want to take photos of LEGO with a reasonable F-stop (say f/8) and a low ISO (100 if possible) and let the exposure time be as long as possible. As long as the camera is stable the long exposure won't matter. If you share details of the camera you are using I'd be happy to help via PM, up to you. Lastly, Flickr allows (or it did, I haven't tried for a while) you to replace photos without affecting the comments, so if you still have the MOC you can take new photos and replace the ones you are not happy with.
  19. Another fantastic build here, and definitely your best yet. You can hold your head high in this Kaliphlin at work collaboration, you did a great job of fleshing out Mophet. So many nice little details, such as the grated windows used for the awning, the minifigs, the white petals used in the architecture, the colours, and so on! Well done!
  20. A really nice MOC in the series that keeps on giving! Nice transitions between the oasis and the desert, good use of foliage pieces covering up the gaps and so on. Lovely fig posing too. The waterfall itself looks quite narrow and a little unnatural, but the water itself is nice as is the transition from foam to water. Great work!
  21. Seriously guys, how many more days of Kaliphlin at work are there, you're showing the rest of us up!
  22. Really really great work! I love it! So many little details, from the broad chest, the bandana, the fingers, the stool, the pieces on the floor around the sculpture, it's just an amazing MOC.
  23. Really nice build, and I like where the story is going with the warrior priests. Love the brown awning in the outside scene, and the snake with wings motif in the interior scene. I like the same blue and white combination in the interior too, it looks great. The interior scene is a little busy overall but it's not too overpowering. Great MOC and look forward to seeing more from you!
  24. Well if the Kaliphlin builders keep this up, the other guilds might as well give up now, you guys have probably got a thousand free build points already! Anyway, this is another nice build for the collaboration. I agree with some of @Henjin_Quilones's points but not all - I really like the dark red and red plaster, it always goes great with tan. I agree that having some texture to the buildings would help break them up a bit, and I also feel that having one building at an angle (off the grid) would help make it feel less regular and more natural. I love the choice of minifigs, some nice hats and torsos that feel right at home in Kaliphlin. The snake tattoo torso for the blacksmith is perfect. In the words of Meghan Trainor, "I'm all about the base" I think the jumper plates look fine, I use them myself with plates to help give the base some texture, but the part that to me looks strange is the tan colour. Because the buildings are tan, I think the light bley might have been a better choice. Lovely MOC, well done!
  25. Nice work @LittleJohn! Great start to what will be a fantastic MOC I'm sure of it. Agree that the olive green vine looks a bit odd, and in regards to the water I don't see a better solution (maybe trans light blue tile?). I would say that the dark bley Nexo knight shield doesn't look like a rock, it's too regular and looks man made. Maybe that's what you want, but just a thought. A cave would certainly break up the rockwork and add another dimension to the model, if you can be bothered reworking it.
