Lovely work! This is the best of the three MOCs you have posted recently. Love the hologram of the city in the bottom right, and the various data panels in the room. The pipes are a nice touch too. Again, the photo lacks sharpness. Nice to see CorSec getting fleshed out a bit, I need to get my character intro up!

The combination of dark orange and dark tan works really well and the aerials are nicely done. Again, the photo seems a little blurry. It looks like the ISO could be set quite high, I can't see the EXIF on Bricksafe, but that could be woth checking. -
The trees are very unconventional and a nice sci-fi touch. I like the broken floor on the tan section, it fits well with the used future of Star Wars. The photo doesn't seem very sharp, almost like the focus is off a little. Overall, it's a nice little MOC.

Really great idea on this one! The idea of a neutral zone in the middle of the sea is very intriguing, I only wish we had better maps so I could get a feel for where things are. The build itself is really nice, the upside down boat is a nice touch. There's quite a lot of reddish brown in the main building, a little dark brown or other such colours might have helped to break it up a bit. Love the build though, and great to see Varlyrio freebuilds!

Another stonking build @Garmadon! Love the all LEGO scene and the fireplace light. So many lovely details in the interior too. Great work!

Lovely little freebuild and the story is really excellent! Love the slightly darker tone of your stories, they always feel very believable. The architecture is simple but it gets the story across well. One little photography tip is to move the white background a little further away from the model so it's not so obvious and therefore looks a little more like an infinity background. Great work!

Book III - Varlyrio: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Basiliscus replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
Happy New Year to you all! Hope Varlyrio can reign supreme in 2019! Was great to see so many freebuilds just before the deadline, hopefully that will help us! It'd be good to do something like what Kaliphlin did (Kaliphlin at work) for the next freebuild window. In the mean time, challenge entries! -
Gnomish Warehouse of Kashgar [VAR - Freebuild]

Love the light bley and medium flesh colour scheme. The dark tan boxes on the roof are a nice touch too. Kashgar is growing and it's a sight to behold! -

A great MOC, love the worn corridor effect. I like the shot with the added blaster effects, looks really cool. Good work! -
Nice forced perspective shot and story, hoping to hear what the outcome of her persuasive tactics is!
-
A lovely addition to Kashgar! Love the colour choices and the mixture of smooth pillars and textured walls. The dome with spike looks great too, what are the flaps on the underside? I don't have one of those domes so presumably that's what keeps the two halves together?

Really great work! Love all the little details, you've got some nice parts usage going on, particularly with the minifigs kneeling with the skirt on the floor, terrific stuff. It looks like the shop is suitably stocked with weapons of all kinds, with every nook and cranny storing some kind of killing device. Plenty to consider for the patrons of this establishment. Lovely work!

Book III - Varlyrio: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Basiliscus replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
I hope the wine seller sells the fine Conzaga vintage, a classic that massages the palette, or so I've heard! I think given that Varlyrio is based on Mediterranean cultures such as medieval Italy, you can say that they are likely to have a larger middle class with income than other guilds, therefore shops which sell goods for coin are more prominent. So shops such as apocetharies, wine sellers, bookshops, leather sellers, tailors, swordsmiths, cafes, inns, etc will be available. Hope that helps! Great! What are you studying at college? -

Good luck @Garmadon, @ZlatanXVIGustaf and @mccoyed, hope you all manage to enter something this time round. What about @Andrew Spader and @MaasEffekt, do you guys have plans to enter? -

Nice work @Garmadon! Another great addition to your family. So who's planning to build for Challenge II? I've built about 30% of a Category C entry and I've got ideas for the other two categories. All going well I'd like to enter them all. Would be good to hear who plans to enter because we will need as many points as possible! -
So many nice touches in that vignette, from the curved stairs, the ring as the door handle, the rounded opening and the offset tiles on the roof. Nice additions to your family too - now we can see the true Varlyrian intrigue!

Book III - Challenge II: Bread and Circuses
Basiliscus replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
Great, thanks for clarifying. Given where my character arc is, I fancied doing something in the western half of Varlyrio with Mychel and Meiyo, but I also fancied doing something in one of the other guilds too with one of the other Conzaga family members. -

Nice one! Interesting categories. One question: do we have to build in our own guild? For example, in Category A could we show Varlyrian merchants giving away free food in another guild? In category B could we show our character's visiting the entertainment in another guild? Etc -
Lovely work @mccoyed! Those giant flowers look great. For your first Star Wars build you've captured the aesthetic well. The bunker has a nice style to it, but it seems a little small for the normally oversized Wookies. I liked the story though and hope to see more of the adventures of Captain Wibs!

[Freebuild - Mitgardia] Abandoned Kirk
Basiliscus replied to Spud The Viking's topic in Guilds of Historica
Really nice work, I particularly like the wooden bit exposed at the back of the roof in the hidden shot. The overall architecture is nice, and as a fellow Scot I've seen hundreds of these around our shared homeland, and it fits that aesthetic well. It's a shame the base wasn't a bit bigger to see more of the landscape, with the building so close to the border it's hard to get the bigger context. Nice work though! -
Another great build David! You're certainly getting good value for money out of those 1x2 tiles , but all the same it looks fantastic as always. The sand green looks great as northern grass, gives it a muted feel. I bought a load of sand green recently for similar reasons. The scene is nicely populated with figs and I love the banner of flags. Great work!

Thanks man! As I say I'm trying to tease out Meiyo's story slowly, so we'll see where that leads us! I do love cheese mind! Yeah, all LEGO scenes are the future. It takes it from a model into a world you could imagine being populated, and I love that idea. The stray light is definitely a problem, I didn't have much time to fix as I wanted to include this for the current freebuild period, but something to bear in mind for next time. Thanks for all the kind words. I did reply to your note on Flickr about the hairpiece although it's annoying you don't get a notification about notes (I really hope Smugmug spend some money on the Flickr mobile app!), so you may not have been aware of that. I'm not 100% sure, because I generally don't buy sets and therefore the origin of pieces is often a mystery to me, but it could be this one? I'm pretty sure it was from a Friends set anyway. Thanks!

Varlyrio Guild Challenge 2E: Spring of Styx
Basiliscus replied to MaasEffekt's topic in Guilds of Historica
A nice little MOC here @MaasEffekt! Really nice story there, interesting to see that the mer folk can actually interact with the drylanders, I'm sure that will come in handy as the story develops! I like the colour choices in this one, the dark red and dark tan in particular go well together. A few things caught my eye however: for me the dark bley cheese slopes around the opening are too regular, it looks too modern, in my mind I imagined an old decrepit portal rather than something that looks like a nuclear bunker. Also, as @mccoyed said, the tree is a little on the small side. Good work though!- 9 replies

Laesonar's Saga Ep. 9 - Much Needed Water
Basiliscus replied to en_zoo's topic in Guilds of Historica
Very nice work! Love the water flowing effect, it looks really natural. I also laughed out loud when I saw the facial expressions of Laesonar and Armin in the final shot, it's perfect! The photography looks a lot better than previously, the extra light has helped. Once you get the diffuse lights then the shadows on the white background on the first two shots should be reduced. Good work!
