    LEGO used to chrome parts in the past and bits of chrome would flake off. Given the safety focus of toys and parents these days, it is highly unlikely they'll use any kind of coating (such as paint) that can come off and be ingested by young children in current and upcoming sets. Anyway if you ever get selected or have the opportunity to build something to display at LEGO, you'll have to go purist: Projects may only contain genuine, un-cut or modified LEGO® bricks. Proposals for new LEGO parts (of any material), competing brand building bricks, or “aftermarket” elements manufactured and sold by any third party are not allowed. Perhaps, full disclosure should be included with every MOC presentation.

    What I actually do is browse Eurobricks. It's cheaper than Bricklink.

    I displayed my Arduino controlled PF train ping-pong at an event last weekend as a test. I found I get more interests from kids than adults. Shows are a good way to find flaws and situations you didn't account for in your design like people looking over the top of the train and blocking the IR command signals. The person next to me got scared and built a barrier at the end of my track so I don't crash into her MOCs.

    This is not World Cup Soccer. None of the German Team soccer figs have won. Like Miss Universe, runner up should only be used if the winner of the round can not fulfill his/her/its obligations.

    l generally lean towards purism. But I do make my own el cheapo 3D print parts at the local public library or BT controllers with inexpensive arduino boards or custom stickers. I think there is fun in making your own compatible things. Sometimes it depends on whom or for what you are building for, whether you should or could use 3rd party parts. At end of the day, it's your hobby. Do what turns your crank or gears.

    My wife only has a couple pairs of shoes. My LEGO takes up more shoe box storage containers. To speed up sorting, I pick out the large pieces first and work my way down in sizes.

    Nice model. It's always fun to see long cars with many wheels try to get around LEGO R40 curves. Does your torpedo make it through switches?
