Transmiting power by lasers is not a new idea. I'm not too keen about having a exposed IR laser beams in an internal space. IR is invisible to the naked eye. Class 1 could still be hazardous if you look at the beam with magnifying optics. How good is their safety system? What happens when safety system fails?

As a children's toy, red would be a more cheerful color than dark red. As a licensed IP, the IP owners can force LEGO to use the correct color in the T&C's of the license agreement.

Looks great. It would be nice if you could post a couple more photos, we can't watch YouTube at work.

Fancy Frog Wart Train sounds an idea for an EB Train contest. $100 USD would be my price point. Higher than that I would lean towards MOCing. If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself is my motto.

Nice use of brick separators.

Ha, I'm almost out of black pins too. I am constantly building for my LUG. I find keeping most parts in plastic bag seems to work better than fixed size drawers or containers as number of parts can shrink and grow dramatically. My workplace challenge is space to store MOCs between LUG events. There is a downsize to plastic bags after a few years of constant use...

Nice, looks better. I like the Ontario Northland version. We shipped them back overseas. I think Ontario Northland now only provide regular passenger bus service, no more regular passenger trains.

That Amazon one only provides 9V at 300mA. Isn't the LEGO one 10V and 700mA? 9V ones do come in 1A or higher inexpensively on eBay.

I used the hole to pin the rear buffer to a Technic plate with holes on my PRR Centipede so it doesn't fall off.- 578 replies

Fair use varies from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. In countries without strong IP laws or not signed onto international IP agreements, any use would be "fair use". You could move your hosting server to one of those countries. Splat should issue cease and desist letters to show he is serious about protecting his IP when his work is used without his permission. Otherwise, the lack of effort protecting his IP could be used against him if he goes to court in the future against someone violating his IP. Wasn't it Bayer who lost the ownership of the trade name Aspirin through common language use or something like that?

What Causes Lego Bricks to Deteriorate?
dr_spock replied to Bricked1980's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I think anything that harms ABS plastic like esters will harm LEGO bricks. I had a couple of sets assembled since the 1980 and were in direct sunlight for years. They seem to be ok although the white isn't as white any more. Clutch power is mixed. Some plates seem to have lost some grip but the bricks seem to be mostly fine. The chemicals in the rubber tires have etched tire imprints into the base plate. It's probably a good idea not to let your town fire trucks sit in one spot on a road base plate for decades.- 25 replies

Here is a presentation on Legal vs Illegal from LEGO: http://bramlambrecht.com/tmp/jamieberard-brickstress-bf06.pdf Basically it's illegal to cause stress and mental distress on your poor bricks.

Shin Godzilla. Good if you like lots of dialog and character development. Not so good if you like more monster smash action.
