LEGO Discovery Centres are owned by Merlin Entertainment and LEGO Retail Stores are owned by The LEGO Group. They serve different purposes. LDCs have a store but their main purpose is entertaining children wtih rides, activities, food, 4D movies, hands on lessons, etc. You don't get VIP points shopping at the LDC. Although, if you have a LEGO VIP card, they may offer you a small discount. The 3 LEGO Stores and LDC in my area less than 20 minutes apart when there is minimal traffic on the highways. During rush hour they can be an hour or two apart.

Tips For A Beginner Model Builder Without Instructions
dr_spock replied to alohamitsu's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Google, Bing, Yahoo... LEGO Luffy from One Piece to see if anyone has made already out of LEGO for ideas. You can use LEGO Digital Designer to test build virtually if you like digital tools. Or draw out your model to scale on paper and test fit LEGO to it. I usually have the vision in my head and slap bricks together until it looks about right. -
I built a cute little wood chipper for my photo a day project. It can be used for cleaning up fallen branches from the winter ice storms around the city. It's also useful for interrogations. Nice. Reminds me of a TV car commerical.

Congrats on Frontpaged. Fun scene. The diehards are not abandoning ship.

If it is going to be in a permanent store window, then maybe should be legal. It may not look good if stressed parts break while on long term display.

The question to ask is what's in it for LEGO now to expand VIP to non-LEGO owned retail outlets. Do the benefits outweigh the costs and effort? We had iCoke reward points in Canada but Coke terminated it last year. Who knows? Maybe when LEGO isn't number 1 any more and competition is fierce they might do it to keep brand loyalty.

Cool. That's a good looking fort with lots of play possiblities. Well done. I think you have a bluecoat infestation on the island. Better call in the exterminators.

Welcome To Our New Pirates Regulator: Kolonialbeamter
dr_spock replied to Capn Frank's topic in LEGO Pirates
Congrats, Kolonialbeamter. -
Lately I ordered my extra cannons from Bricklink. In 2009/2010 I bought small Pirates set that have a cannon when on discount to get more cannons. I may buy small sets again now that there is a new wave of Pirate sets out.

Train storage systems? How do you store or display your spares?
dr_spock replied to Adamskii's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I cover mine with clear thin sheets of plastic. I learned that from my friend's grandma who covered her furniture with plastic and didn't allow us to sit on them. -
We have already done a long speculation of what MDP might be in the 2015 LEGO Train thread -> http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=98350&st=125

Taiwan's BRICK Works - LEGO-themed Cafe or a LEGO Store ripoff?
dr_spock replied to legofanatic12's topic in Community
I don't think it is much different than the eating area inside the LEGO Discovery Centres. The LDC washes their play bricks on a regular basis. Probably the issue is how germophobic are the parents. -
Sorry, it won't be making a delivery to your gas stations. Day 096 of 365: Check Your Blindspots Before Changing Lanes by dr_spock_888, on Flickr Thank you. Thanks. I'm almost at 100 days.

Cool. Looks good in blue.

Thanks. It is fun to come up and build something each day. Thanks. Trucks with that many axles may have more than one steerable axle. Something with a layout out like mine would have the last axle steerable. If not, then the last axle or first axle of the rear group of three can be raised when making tighter turns. Thanks. Due to winter freezing and thawing, the ton per axle loading regulations are lower in certain parts of Canada. Otherwise, the roads can get damaged. Besides I had to make use of all those wheels/tires I got from the Pick A Brick Wall. Thanks. I haven't worked on catenary before, did I get it right?
