LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 14 Rumors and Discussion
dr_spock replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Abe Lincoln was also a vampire slayer in that movie. He would fit right in with the series or Halloween. -
Cool, this works well for small shunter that can only have one motor bogie. If you have room for two bogies, I think converting a dead 9V train motor for power pick up only would be an easier solution. He has a loopback plug that permits that function.

It's normal, MOCPages crashes from time to time. It sounds like they may have a corrupted database. Those data things can take time to recover. If you are worried about long term viability, you could put your MOCs on multiple sites and deeplink pictures from more than one site in your Eurobricks MOC presentation thread. If one site is down, readers can still see some pics of your MOC. I put the best pic on Flickr and the others on Brickshelf and deeplink from both, not the exact same pics, mind you.

Lego Zissou Life Aquatic Rejected by Lego Ideas
dr_spock replied to T-Brick27's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I think this creation is based on an R-rated movie about revenge killing. Maybe figs armed with pistols, speedo and explosives. It might have passed the LEGO brand value test if it was an idea about scientific research submarine studying coral reefs and environmental protection of sensitive sea life. It is a nice build. -
I have a spotty LEGO trains history. I barely remember some blue tracks and red hook couplers when I was a wee little one. My familly moved and I didn't have LEGO again until I moved out. That's when I bought 7710 Push Train. Then another period of no LEGO trains until 10233 Horizon Express was released. I wanted a TGV back in my HO days and I always love modern passenger trains ever since my grandfather took wee little me on the Amtrak Turboliner to New York City. I bought a couple of HE sets and I was hooked. It would be nice if LEGO made more modern passenger trains. Since they don't, I do the MOC thing. That works out well as my LUG doesn't display sets at events.

Should LEGO sponsor a racing team?
dr_spock replied to legoman19892's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Chris Hadfileld had a guitar on the ISS. They can increase prices to cover it if racing sponsorship doesn't drive more customers and revenues. -
Is that an image he created with the LEGO logo? I wonder if they'll ding him for violating the part in the guidelines about using LEGO's logo in images.

powered bogies, vertical or horizontal? what is better?
dr_spock replied to THERIZE's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I didn't use a turnable when I mounted a M-mount vertical with the Technic axle through one of the holes in the train base plate. It wlll work without it. I think it is a stronger connection if you use the turnable too. I was onlly held on by a technic axle in the motor and gear in the bogie frame. Also the M-motor put some turning force on the bogie. I replaced it with a PF train motor. Easier that way. -
I think it depends on what your application of 2 axle cars will be. If you have a string high rolling resistance cars with the axles too far apart, then it is going to affect your train's performance in curves. If it is for a British Pacer railcar which has bad performance in real life then it may not be as problematic. I used 14 studs in my . I can feel the difference hand rolling the passenger car between straight and curve. The OP could grab a couple of 6x16 plates and wheels and try different spacing to see for himself and figure out the limit for his particular appllcation.

It looks a bit like a Morgan open top roadster.
