Love the whole setup, fantastic job!

Got to agree with mrcp60d, the mobile lab, the flood lamps, it all gives a nice crime scene feel. They better be careful, though, or they'll have more to worry about than scorpions--they may just find an enormous green rage monster!

Your rockwork is really good, but the star of the show is clearly the lava--wow that is so good! The effect of flowing lava is perfect

The outrageous mech is good, but that brick-built horse is really something! And I'll be darned if that thar weren't some of the best cottin'-pickin' story tellin' I done ever read in this here thread!

I love the pieces flying everywhere, great action in this scene!

Exactly what I was going to say! If you buy a set just for parts, perhaps don't pay full price for it. Wait for a clearance or a 2-for-1 or something. Also, I have used eBay (judiciously) to buy bulk mixed lots or imcomplete sets, or sets without minifigs. Trick with eBay is to not just buy whatever you see, but to wait for a really good deal.

Good point. I suppose rewarding early posts would discourage quality building. I, for one, like to see great builds regardless of who posted them. Hear hear!

I see no reason to give preference to builds posted early in the week (by awarding domination immediately). If built during that week, it should count toward that week, whether Monday or Friday. Any changes in domination, bonuses, area of control, etc. Should take effect after all of that week's points are tallied. Does the poll question mean after ALL builds are posted, or after EACH? Its not very clear... Dr. Long's post below clarified it for me, thanks! If a corporation who controlled a planet goes all the way to zero, they should only lose it if another corp. has at least one point there. If no one else is even on it, they should still have claim over it. I can't vote with that condition in the poll, so I'll answer no because I believe that is an important distinction. Why would planets need to be chained together? Is there a reason this is even being considered? It would be precisely negating the abilities granted by some of tech tree advancements and personal equipment, which I presume were designed to allow a corp to extend their reach over a distance.

I see nothing unfair at all. I messaged Bob because he is in charge of the game. It was not private because it was intended to be "secret", but because his input was the only one that mattered. I think that posting the question publicly would have been more unfair, as Bob may have felt pressure to answer a specific way. As is, I asked if late was okay, stated that if not I understood and would accept the consequences, and he responded. This is exactly the kind of thing PMing is for. As for transparency, that is why I posted my explanation in this thread. Now everybody knows. As for favoritism, I see nothing to back up your claim here. Perhaps if I were Octan, you may might possibly but probably still not have a case. There was a confusing situation, and I looked to Bob on what to do and he told me, as he would have for any player in the same spot. I didn't say that. Are we done here? ***************

Fair enough. Anyway, after my ...adventure... last week, I appreciate what it means to use a lighting effect like this, and yours looks great!
-
Ah, see well this was...unintentional, as a result of my poor lighting setup

Nicely done! With my lava build last week I literally was doing a science experiment--testing the respective melting points of ABS and polycarbonate! (ABS' melting point is much lower than PC's, if you were wondering). Next time I'll use a CFL. Great build here, I like the lab, the droid, the effective look of the lava, and the forced perspective through the window. M.A.N.T.I.S. for the win!

Since you would not be part of a corporation, I am not sure you even need an official introduction (just explain it in your build?) Although an intro probably wouldn't hurt.

I am not sure if this is directed at me, but since my build was technically posted after the deadline--and was one of the early arrivals on A06--I figure it might as well be. I am not attacking you, but let me explain the situation: I posted mine late because I had to have some personal equipment in order to reach A06; however, in the middle of transferring credits there was a good deal of confusion, and some members' sigfigs even (erroneously) showed them with negative credits for awhile. Unsure if things were going to work out, I sent Bob a PM and apologized for the lateness. He graciously explained that because of the confusion he would still allow my late build to be accepted. Was I trying to game the system by posting late? Certainly not. However, I also didn't want to try and post a build to a planet I couldn't reach, which is why I messaged Bob, to make sure my actions were acceptable. I am sorry if there are any hard feelings about this, but it was the result of some confusion, and we all did the best we could to resolve things. ******** As for the judging, I am amazed at how quickly the three got it done this week. I have had to do judging for other events, and while it is stressful trying to be fair and impartial to each participant, it is even more stressful to make sure that the scores are recorded, averaged, and awarded properly, let alone all the credits and job bonuses, special equipments, and resources that are specific to AG. I cannot fathom how they did it all in one day and still kept their day jobs, so hats off to all three of you! Also, having three judges is probably thr best way to do it--with a single judge there is no oversight, with a popular vote it becomes lengthy and unwieldy--there is no way we could have weekly entries if every entry had its own voting thread. Can you imagine it? Can you imagine having to count each one, every week? Ugh. Besides, then the team with the most members would have an advantage each week--don't tell me teams wouldn't upvote their own members at the expense of everyone else. Three judges keeps it fair, yet manageable enough to have weekly builds (somehow--I don't think I personally could keep up!) I wouldn't mind seeing a rubric if they have one, yet I haven't seen any scores yet that seem unreasonable or unfair, so I believe the system works quite well for now.

Ah! I see you have fallen into our trap!

Check your maps, friend. We're already halfway to domination. And that MANTIS scored more sixes this week than both other teams combined--and that's not including bribe bags. Don't think we couldn't do it again...
-
Great build, and hilarious set-up. Now that's my favorite kind of work...
-
The lab interior is quite good, great design overall.
-
The action in this scene is superb--along with Sal I am trying to see how you posed the figs that way! I also love the ongoing inclusion of larvae in MANTIS.

That is an amazing ship! The way it sits against the rocks looks just like it crashed there. Good job.
