  1. Welcome to EB, Fish! Would be interesting to see some photos of your more interesting "lost" Lego finds.
  2. Here's the tactic I'd take if I were you: buy 1 or more copies of each of the currently available modulars. Build 'em if you feel like it and see what you think. If you don't get around to it or decide that remaking or purchasing the older sets isn't something you want to do (and it would bother your completionist sensibilities), then sell the ones you bought. As you can see, they tend to go up a good bit after they're retired, and even while they're still available you can get nearly full price for them... or you could just crack 'em open for parts. At least that way you wouldn't miss out on any of the current ones and be kicking yourself about that if you do decide to take the plunge!
  3. Welcome to EB, Aaryana! Nice to have you here with us. Happy building!
  4. I only went so far as "Bad, bad, bad!" because I've also seen the Rifftrax (MST3K) version as well which ups the amusement:painfully-awful ratio a bit in my memory.
  5. eBay is what worked out best for me. Lots of old stock still to be had in the Netherlands and Germany, especially. I've bought from 2 sellers in the Netherlands: collectorsitemnl113 and hankypanky7 (most from the latter, though he sells seasonally and doesn't appear to be active at the moment). Most of it was in the original boxes and was in very good condition. Was given the option to save on shipping costs by shipping the parts without the boxes but, like you, I was in the market for that extra nostalgia. Happy hunting- Modulex is fun!
  6. There's no great love for Mega Bloks here, but I don't think creating an account just to try to get info that can be used to defraud them (if you'll be requesting "missing" pieces to get what you need) is a great way to start your presence on EB.
  7. I recycle probably 85% of them, but I do keep the boxes for sets that tend to increase in value a lot (Modulars, some Lego Exclusives, etc.) or that I really like the design or are likely to have some kind of nostalgic value to me later on (pirates in the past). The boxes I do keep tend to be the larger ones that aren't glued and just have the adhesive tabs, so it's really easy to just cut those and flatten the boxes. I'm starting to run out of my easy, out-of-the-way storage space for them now, however, so I may have to thin them out or find some kind of container that's big enough for the flattened boxes that I can put out in the garage. Hmm...
  8. Nice. I've occasionally used instructions on my iPad, but I must say it's never occurred to me to do so simply because of the size of the instruction book on larger models. I use a paper/book stand for instructions for convenience, but when you get up to something even the size of a Modular Building they start to get annoying even with that. The iPad makes perfect sense for that situation, and I may just give it a shot!
  9. Welcome to EB! No need to be shy about loving Lego... especially around here. Have fun!
  10. Oh man, I really love that little red car. And the driver certainly fits the feel nicely! They're all nice (and I remember thinking how cool the suspension was on the safari truck back when I got it originally!), but the hotrod is especially outstanding. Great work!
  11. Nice. That carriage is great.
  12. Very nice. I especially like the broken glass and the rusting limo. I wonder what kind of underworld shenanigans go on inside - there could be some very atmospheric scenes set up in there.
  13. Huh, that is strange. From the translucency of the piece it looks like it's not the same quality ABS as our usual Lego which gives it an off-brand feel... but it would be awfully strange to have made its way into an official Lego video. Maybe a prototype of some sort- they did change the rag wrap/bandana on the pirates with the 2015 wave of sets, so perhaps they were also messing with the tricorn hats and there are some early prototypes hanging around?
  14. Welcome to EB, Summ! Glad you didn't let those people keep you away from the joy of the brick for too long!
  15. Hi FreeBee. The red ones go on the back of each of the small trailers on the 3 vehicles - that's the 1x4 used there, so the rear bumper area of each trailer has the "Legoland" printing facing out. If I'm not describing that well, you can see that clearly in the Jangbricks video review of that set here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=354&v=7sOJ6X9X82Y Happy building!
  16. The "extra items" are usually just that- extra pieces that come with the set. I assume you've purchased a new Lego set before and noticed when you were done that there were a couple pieces left over (usually small pieces, or unusual items/prints)? That's what are cataloged as extra items, so they shouldn't be needed to build the main set.
  17. Hi RoadtripRobot! Welcome to EB! Looking forward to seeing some of your MOCs and discussion around the forum.
  18. Welcome to EB, Julam! We'll be happy to help further nurture both of your habits!
  19. Welcome to EB, SirRicco! Happy to have you here with us.
  20. Welcome to EB, brunoctoday! Tell us a little more about yourself!
  21. Welcome to EB, Ymarilego! Nice to have you here with us.
  22. That is delightful! Very mix-mashed, junky-funky, fun! That over-the-top, jaunty cabin door is great, as is the patched hull on the starboard side, and the overall shape is nice, too. Nicely done!
  23. That is great! Really nice work, especially with the integration of the sliding door... and the red stripe!
  24. Well, OK - that's even better in my opinion! Hopefully the parts selection is decent!
