Nice! I'll not repeat some of the other compliments already mentioned above, but a couple other things that I like are the detail with the stumps of the cut-down birch trees, and NPU on the stud shooters used in the trunks. Constructive criticism since you asked for feedback: I don't think the apple tree works as well as the birch trees. I would make the trunk thicker and the canopy larger, but this may just be a young tree so that's fine! One easy change that I think would improve the look would be to affix the apples on the opposite side of the leaf pieces so they're hanging under the canopy rather than shooting off the sides. For the birch trees, I'd have a little more randomness with the trunks, even just as simple as varying the brick-plate-brick-plate pattern to occasionally skip or double any of those. But they look nice regardless. This is more of a preference thing, but I would consider having the roof bricks on the house not end flush with the sides of the stone. I think it'd look a little nicer even overlapping half a stud past the edge. Really nice build!

[GOC-FB-COR] Gunboats, Wullham Bay
deraven replied to evancelt's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Well, it does live up to its name! I think you should add a small paddle wheel on each side (right where those pearl-gold studs are) driven by pedal-power from the inside so the crew doesn't need to worry about the oars reaching the water, or even going above deck!- 4 replies

Wow. It really is... a lot. But a lot of awesome packed in there! The whole thing is wonderful and will keep show visitors examining it for a long time. The ice effects are really well done, especially with the guard frozen mid-stride! That dinosaur, though, is spectacular. The shaping, posing, and icing are all delightful.

Lovely, and the cypress trees work really well there. If only... I like the way the color of the steps pops and all the tile work.- 13 replies

Nice. The building is plain and ominous, but still with a lot of details to enjoy. The bike is awesome!

Delightful concept, and well done. The gear for the dogs looks great, and the wall is a nice backdrop with lots of excellent details!

Those look great! Thanks for the write-up!

Alphabet pieces, printed or stickers?
deraven replied to crockalley's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Plenty of options to just buy vinyl stickers from Amazon or wherever. Just 1/4" stickers should work well for 1x1 tiles. Like these: https://www.amazon.com/Chartpak-Self-Adhesive-Capital-Letters-01006/dp/B0006VRX30/ -
Welcome to EB, Mark! Nice to have you with us here, now that you're out of your Dark Ages. That's one way to look at it! Many folks here have similar stories, so at least you're in good company on that, not to mention the new Lego Star Wars love. Happy building!

Yeah... no. The only one I think might be fun (if folks ask for it), is the SFOL (Senior Fan of Lego) but also suggesting putting that at 50+ makes me think you're under-age for this forum. I would say SFOL for 65 or 70+ fans might be OK. As for geography, the country is already listed, and the official board language is English so I don't know what purpose those additional tags would serve. The religious tags are just a bad idea from any angle, and irrelevant to what this board is about anyway. The others I don't see any real utility. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Remarkably well-captured for the number of bricks you've used there!

Parts fit in stud.io but not in the real world...
deraven replied to spidercircus's topic in Forum Information and Help
That is odd. I think there's an issue with the parts in Studio or maybe the collision detection. I can confirm that they definitely don't fit IRL, but in the program if i repeatedly try to make them fit together making fine adjustments Collision Detection will sometimes toggle itself off on its own. Then if I turn it back on it appears the parts fit until I fully move them apart, but then I can't put them back again unless CD is turned off. It's odd. -
Wow, you've captured the look really well for being done in 4-wide! That's a lot of fun, and I'd love to see a larger setup at this scale.

Welcome to EB, Peter! Happy building (and sorting, and cleaning, and salvaging)! -
A lot more going on here than it appears at first glance! So many offsets, elegant SNOT work, and the details you've been able to incorporate throughout are wonderful. Great build!

Lots of inspiration out there, but for something like this (small scale) I would agree that hinged sections would be easy and would work well enough. You might go with either 2- or 4-stud sections so you can easily incorporate the windows into each section that way. Here's a nice larger scale example that also make good use of the technique for an interesting interior: Radcliff camera insight by Erwin te Kortschot, on Flickr And here's another thread on EB about building round towers with plenty of examples, several of which you could easily adapt into the half-round for that part of your church: Happy building!

You've captured it nicely! Always nice to see some ST builds on here, and I agree that there's a lot of nice design from the Axanar folks!

Welcome to EB, EBlego! You'll certainly find plenty of minifig-collecting love here on the forums. Happy building!

Yes! This "landing" looks great!

Very nice! Love it with the top down in particular. The inclusion of the tail pipe is a nice little detail.

6ft Rapunzel Tower from the Movie Tangled (MOC
deraven replied to Bricksnaps's topic in LEGO Licensed
Truly wonderful! Constructive criticism: I think the climbing vines look a little odd cutting off perfectly at the timber neck of the tower. I'd either have them thin out just before reaching that point or have them spill over just a little bit somewhere. Beyond that I can only find things to like! The hair as others have said is great, the trees and groundwork, the river, simple but interesting stonework for the bulk of the tower - all really nice. The timber neck/platform is elegant and delightful, as is the rest of the living quarters and especially that roof! Fantastic! -
Love seeing the old Blacksmith Shop set in there! Definitely a nice prequel.

Delightful! So many Blacktron memories. The detachable pods are great, and I really like those compact prisoner pods!
