  1. I did for mine, built last year with space left for more than five modulars. In the current layout there is only empty space left for two but I can easily clear space for two or three more. But if Lego releases other interesting sets in the meantime, that's always a problem. For example just before I start my layout they released the old fishing store and the ninjago city, so I had to change my plans to extend a little the layout area for these. Very nice layout Andy, it is great to see the construction in timelapse. I just found a little sad that all these classic 80s road plates are actually not visible in the final layout and were just used like regular baseplates

    [MOC] Car Spindle

At first I used turntables to be able to freely rotate the cars, that was even worse: the tower didn't even stay straight due to the slack in that part. Here I used 2x2 jumpers (except at two places where it is a regular 2x2, for the cars at 90° angle)
  3. A small MOC made last weekend, in my city layout i added a replica of a sculpture that most of you probably already saw in picture or in Wayne's World : "Spindle" (wikipedia image) under another angle : This thing is really annoying to move, it is quite fragile, it felt a few times including two just when turning it And each time I had to go checking pictures to see in which direction is each car Not sure I'll keep it there on the long term, I did that quickly with cars in the 80s style just because I had the idea. Or maybe I'll put it in the corner on the right, near the wall, where there is a lost space because of the train track turn.
  4. For integration of the Ninjago part to my layout, I've already linked the City and the Docks to the temple (by heavily modifying the Docks), cf this post in my thread: https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/156427-my-city-layout-dark-brick-city/&do=findComment&comment=3007557 (scroll a little) But I still have to make a transition between the City part and the Ninjago part. As that is across a train track turn, it won't be so easy (no idea yet). For the straight track passing in front of it however it could be easier, I'll probably simply raise the track a little and put it over rocks, extending the water to the edge of these rocks.
  5. :D On the Belgian S@H both are at 7,99€ (which is already pricey for a luggage tag)
  6. It would look strange to have at the side what is supposed to be on the front; it is a common style of roof in some places, probably mostly in Amsterdam/Netherlands, e.g. https://c8.alamy.com/comp/AJ3N32/architecture-of-amsterdam-house-with-stepped-gable-netherlands-AJ3N32.jpg ; but there are also a few like that here in Brussels. The slope wouldn't be so lined up, since the market street is nearly one floor higher. And in this case, I liked the fact that the fig on its patio was watching the thief breaking in the bank via the roof :D
  7. Thanks for the comments :) Here is an updated recent view of the whole layout : (click for bigger image)
  8. Back to the City/Modular part; following the purchase of hospital 60204 that I wanted to modify to integrate it along the modulars, I moved the Corner Café so it would be a little more visible and the "Hotel" sign also seen from the better angle. For that I also had to move a little the Assembly Square. All that was fun and my nails (though they resist well to tiles) still remember it I realize that I don't really have a "before" photo except with the background of this photo posted previously: And here is the view "after": In that block I still have space for a 32x32 modular, most likely the next one released by TLG will go there. I'll make a corner building around 32x16 by increasing a lot the little yellow bank at the side of the fire brigade. If they release a corner modular, I'll put it there instead and make the bank differently. And after some thinking, I may also move (again!) the Corner Café to put it there at the side of the brigade, allowing a wider pedestrian street along the rails (as said on another forum, the Café is a little close to the tracks ) but I'll decide that when I'll know what TLG will release. So all that was to free space for the hospital 60204, by modifying it a little, so it has roughly the size of a corner 32x16 modular : The less visible side is not the best one, that's a good thing : View from the park, which had to be a little reorganized: The original contents of each floor is similar to what was in the set, I didn't detail it more since that's not much visible:
  9. It looks very nice but I think I'll pass this one; the building does not look very "christmas village" to me (for putting with the rest on display in winter) and I've a problem with old firetrucks it seems - I didn't like the one from the modular fire brigade either (used for parts, replaced by a modern City fire truck) As I already passed on the Post Office and the Market previously, it won't be too difficult to pass one more :)
  10. If they make a worse quality clone than Lepin, that may help Lego however: it will show that the real one is much higher quality (currently a problem for Lego with Lepin is that the clone does not seem so bad in some cases, from what I heard), and you cannot easily distinguish one clone from another.
  11. Not yet, it seems that some step reached related to jurisdiction was misinterpreted as a final verdict by the site cited as source and then relayed by a lot of other sites.
  12. Depends on the quantities... In my case as I sport mostly by color I group the 2x2 / 2x3 / 2x4 together (except a few colors for which I really have too much of each). The 2x2 corner go with the 1x3 as they are rarer than the 1x2 or 1x4. And all the round stuff is grouped together (again, by color), separately for the square/rectangle plates. If you don't have much in each color it may be good to regroup a few colors together.
  13. Nice little truck, well done :) That reminds me the set https://brickset.com/sets/6481-1/Construction-Crew edit: and congratulation to AllanSmith for the original trailer ;)
  14. In the Brickowl link above if you click the "Colors" tab you get a list of the availability In a similar way, on Bricklink, the "Color info" tab and its "Known Colors" tab gives also a list: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=54200#T=C If you were building with regular bricks, I'd say that the old dark gray could be a good fit (just "Dark Gray" on Bricklink, opposed to the current "Dark Bluish Gray"), but that color is old and so the parts availability is limited (and only decreasing) - for example that 1x1 slope does not exist in it.
  15. Again a small update, using the set 70607 and moving the remaining Docks building to make it more visible: (wood pier to be improved)
  16. Long time without update, but there weren't so many changes actually An updated view from my other thread (my Lego apartment) A few months ago I started to fill the area between modular buildings (behind the Fire Brigade), mostly with the set "fun in the park": Next step will be adding small custom corner modulars 16x32 and 32x16 (at the side of the AS and FB), leaving a 32x32 area along the train tracks to be filled by a future official modular (which will then be along a pedestal alley rather than a street) There was also the arrival of the Diner: The "corner but not really corner" style fitted well with that place of my layout, but I'll have to fill the void behind (and on the left of there, on the left of the platform seen there will be some day a train station) In the meantime I got the Ninjago Docks set, but as it was too big to fit in the Ninjago corner of the layout (where there is already the City and the Temple) last month I "cut" it (no worry, no part was harmed ) I've put its left third on the right of the City and its right third on the left of the City: That makes the city bigger, and in the end I find it better looking like that, it is more impressive in 48x48: There was the middle third left: These parts were used to fill the 16x16 corner behind the City and make the link with the Temple: Two days ago I re-did that link better, with plants and reeds, to hide the difference between the two water styles: The remaining building was then put on the far right, in a corner still to be filled. I'll probably move it a little to the front so it will be more visible.
  17. Very nice! But indeed the roof likes a little strange - not sure how that could be improved though. It would be nice for a Die Hard 3 MOC (the first one I think when I see such Caprice model with black wheels)
  18. I wonder if by "engine" they understood the whole locomotive/car or just the motor itself
  19. It often happens with sets I buy for parts: I open them only when I need the parts. Some others were bought to be modded, so I wait to have time/motivation do that. For some I needed the space for display (e.g. Sydney Opera that stayed in its box for 2 years) In my Brickset collection I have a custom tag for these sets, so I know what is waiting to be opened (as the boxes are stacked in less accessible areas under the table of my diorama in the Lego Room), and before adding something to my Bricklink wanted list I check if by chance the part hasn't appeared in of the sets bought for parts - I already had that chance a few times, and then I open a box of a 1000+ parts set just to take one small part... and then I have to sort all the rest in my parts bins On another forum, we call all these unopened boxes that pile up the "Pile of Shame"
  20. They are also great for those who have too much Lego (well, I mean not enough free space), that's a good way not to buy another set this year :D (also, even if I didn't get all the winter village sets, displaying them in winter takes some space...)
  21. Hello, Here is a truck I made for a challenge on another forum, on the theme "vehicle from 80s movie or TV series" - the truck driven by Max in "Mad Max 2" from 1981. Amongst my first ideas, there were main cars from the first Mad Max movie, but that movie was released in late 70s, so just outside of the theme, and anyway already done a lot in Lego. However I didn't find MOCs of this truck after a quick search. In the movie, Max drives a 1973 Mack R-Series found abandoned on the road. There is a first chase when he brings back the truck safe to the oil refinery, this is the version that I reproduced here. Later the truck is armoured and used to haul a tank trailer out of there. I thought about doing also that second version, but I abandoned due to lack of time (for the trailer) and inspiration (for the reinforced front of the truck). Here are a few captures from the movie for comparison: Reference page of the truck: https://www.imcdb.org/vehicle.php?id=6902 MOC page: https://antp.be/lego/moc/mad-max-truck.php
  22. He will save money in stamps if we win again something this year
  23. Once I forgot a part in a PaB or B&P order (a train bogie plate), I noticed it just after validating the order ; I sent an e-mail asking if it was possible to somehow add the missing part to the order, and they sent it for free separately.
  24. Long time ago I could rebuild all the upper/visible part (bodywork) of https://brickset.com/sets/5550-1/Custom-Rally-Van without the instructions. For the chassis I still had to take a look to the instructions from time to time I think. I could do the same for some parts of https://brickset.com/sets/5580-1/Highway-Rig (especially the front, which was more fragile, so more often damaged in stunts )
  25. It does not seem to be, I don't see it in a photo of the parts list that has been posted elsewhere.
