Now youv'e got me curious? Are these alternatives going to retract all the gear by a seperate mechanism that is integrated into the model in an nonintrusive way. And for the front wheel to be inclosed within the body of the plane will severly limit space no mater how it's done on a plane of this size.(even if it's only the diameter of the tire) I was going to use window shutters or plate hinges instead of inverse slopes which may have saved me 1 brick's worth of space in front. I didn't have any white ones nor was I especially concerned about perfecting it that much :-P In any case I couldn't find anything with the same effect aside from the technic space shuttle and nothing like it at this or a smaller scale. My little brother didn't want me to smash it, so I assume it's worth keeping around for him X-D Here is the inner gear mechanism

I not much of a city theme fan, but my little brother really enjoys airplanes, and when I get a good idea I like to try many possibilities. This is my attempt to adapt my landing gear to a system scaled airplane unfortounately the gear housing has to be manualy manipulated directly the tail cone is the knob that extends and retracts the wheels uh oh I retracted the wheels while landed! You can see the front wheel in the corner of the windshield and side window. That and the internal gearing extremely limits the leg room inside. With the gear down I can get maybe 2 mini figs cofortably inside. With it up I can get 1 if it is laying down on top of the front wheel. On the plus side there is plenty of baggage space in the rear.

This is the Cetus-01 landed position This craft is an experimental design using reverse engineered components of a derelict alien ship discovered in the outer reaches of space. The alien technoglogy was vastly superior in the hull alloys, computer and certain sensor capabilities. The conventional components include the 3 phaser cannons mounted at points along the rear wings and the array of cloaking and holo emiters at the bow. the bow also features a turret that can fire 180degrees along the ventral side of the ship. a view of the landing gear retracted aft view. The main drive is the knob that retracts and extends the landing gear (it takes just over two full rotations to bring them into position) The three rear wing assembly can be jettison from the ship in case of weapon overloads. It is held in place by a single technic axle. The brickshelf gallery of this ship More details of the landing gear Here

I did some searching for examples of retractable landing gear and didn't find very much. There are these two examples of official sets the jedi starfighter uses hinge pieces for landing gear I really like the compact design of this one, but it would have been cool if it was activated from a lever switch as in the technic space shuttle This is a great design but it is way to large for a system scale fighter. Most of the mocs I can recall have something similar to these two designs, but I have created something that is a cross between the two. It was inspired by your recomendation of retractable landing gear in the space fighter contest thread ;-) I am still planing on entering if I can get some images up. I've also adapted the design to work with city themed moc. Addition: This is the inner workings of my landing gear gearing system after 1 rotation 2 rotations both of the landing struts are geared just as you can see with the white gears. the other gears are simply to line up with the black spiral gear. The spiral gear is the key to lock everything in place, otherwise it will not stand or remain retracted.

What is the oldest set you've ever found in a store?
ghoulrealm replied to BearHeart's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
About 3 years ago a hobby store had some UFO and city sets from around the same time for sale. They were marked up quite high :-( , so I had to pass on that find. I was looking for pirates anyway :-P -
My favorite music is pretty much anything without lyrics (instrumental and mostly orchestral) I like some popular music but I usually find the midi files so I don't have to hear the vocals. The midi is also a good way learn to play the songs on synth\keyboard. Some of them are really decent quality with a good sound card.

looking sleek *y* Not sure what the transblack slopes represent, a windshield or just a transparent embelishment? Regardless, It looks great, whatever it is.

Thundercats....HO!!! Custom figs 2
ghoulrealm replied to Vader's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
those are all magnificent *y*...., but where's Snarf -
That was interesting. Although I don't see this as the coolest minifig/cyborg ever, it did make an impression on me. I like to see mocs done in unusual ways. I think the best way to improve technique is to keep playing around with trying different parts. If you happen to see some other moc that gives you inspiration, try to take your favorite aspects from it. Don't stop with with emulating other's builds. Make alterations and keep trying the unconventional. What I sometimes like to do is throw a mix of many specialized parts in a tray and work something out of that.

Right now I'm fine with my Nintendo DS. I will eventually get the Wii for metriod, and any system/s that pick up Castlevania and Goemon titles. The thing I like least about the Wii is the active action controler. I don't know about you, but I play videogames to relax, to be off my feet, and rest after work. I also wouldn't want my lap dog to loose her seat. I am curious if the Wii controler lets you play the new games in a more conventional way. I always thought it was rather goofy when poeple leaned on turns when playing racing games.

Look what I just got - Report your latest Pirate LEGO acquisitions
ghoulrealm replied to V()()D()()'s topic in LEGO Pirates
OK, I won't! I don't have any money, nor is it my priority ship at this point. -
I bought that ship, but I haven't been able to do much with it, then again I haven't really tried much yet. I did use the large skull figurehead piece, but that's all. I suppose the fact that it floats scores big with playability points, because mostly it is astetically :-X. I just hope this helps to let LEGO co. see that pirates is still a popular theme and that it extends back to system.

The monkey's name is Boots. He had a hole in one when Dora first met him. Then they had an adventure to go get it fixed. yeah! I don't know what they are celebrating, perhaps a birthday, but they don't usually need a reason anyway. Is it sad that I know these things and don't have kids? *wacko* And welcome to our community Yankee Bricko.

I don't really like carbonated beverages much, although I've been known to drink root beer I like a noncarbonated energy drink from snapple called Eliments- Rain. Due to the sweetness, I dilute it by half with water. It is white grape and agave nectar flavored. I have also bought Kansas City out of stock within a 20 mile radius of my house. One store quit selling it >:-( , I think because it is only shiped with all the flavors together, and they never sold the other 3 flavors X-D

Which is better, Star TREK or Star WARS?
ghoulrealm replied to vahkimetru's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I'm more of a trekker. I'll try too look past the unbalanced quantity issue, but that alone scores alot a favor toward Trek. Story: Both have interesting and compeling stories, so no faroritism there. The vessels: I like a few of starwars ships like the sith infiltrator and gugan sub, but I don't care for most. I love many more ship designs of trek such as Akira class, klingon and romulan birds of prey, and the species 8472 bioship. The locals: I like the alien environments of the starwars prequels best, like the gungan city. Trek settings are usaully very earth-like or a bland cave. The characters: Starwars has much more variety of non humanoid aliens and creatures whichs scores big with me, but also annoys as well, such as the driods and jarjar's personalityies. (the thing that was with Lando in the Millenium-Falcon from Empire Strikes Back?) I don't like anything about that creature. :-X Trek is too heavy on the humaniod alien with a forehead. The music: Star wars has a good epic soundtrack, but I just don't like it as much as Trek's themes. I like just about every Trek theme except Enterprise's theme "Faith of the Heart" :-X, (that was the worst decision of the franchise) -
I was thinking more like calamari steaks cut into strips and stirfried. ;-) But if you can fully cook it in ring form,.. bring it on! X-D I'll need a to-go bag\wheelbarrow, please.

If it's true, at least she is moving on with her life, making a bit of money, and most importantly not throwing them away! -
Have good one, matey!

*y* The colors and the fenders is what really wins me over to this moc, even though I'm not a big fan of the wheeled space vehicles.

Cartoon and kids tv topic, simpsons, futurama etc
ghoulrealm replied to casewindu's topic in Culture & Multimedia
(Janey Mack (Mac) ) slang for - "Janey mac I didn't know you were there" Used to express surprise, "Janey mack I didn't know that". Could be a polite way of saying "Jesus Christ" Yeah, I had to look it up. As for South Park, I'll admit that it can be hilarious at times, but this single thread is more than enough discussion about the show. (if that isn't what he meant) -
I typically like to read topics that are fairly short and to the point, or a picture heavy post with a descriptions. I will read every post on most topics, but if I don't have something different than what was allready said or more than (nice work\good job) I usually don't post. Also if perchance I might not have anything positive to say, I will usually not post. I wanted to say somethig in a couple of topics that were closed but it was in jest anyway. :-P By the way, lego2000, I get your sense of humor and do not find it offensive at all. I assume that's why you was chambered a while ago?

I've never tried to make stickers, but I do sculpt. I use sculpey3. It is not sticky, it doesn't dry out, and remains firm when working with it. Though it is not that durable after being baked and hardened, it is at least excelent for practicing small scale sculptures. I believe Vader has used something called multiput Did you change your clay of choice? And Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn uses a compond called "green stuff" It is good for small scale and dries in air. It needs to wet while working with it and is slighty sticky, but very durable when dried. ________________ The best advice I can give you about sculpture is have patience and practice
