  1. Quite nice, especially the Panda, though I think he needs just a little more prominence of the muzzle (the dog too). You got to have a crab or lobster! You also might try a squid, a boar, or even some kind of fish or shark.
  2. I don't know how to say how much I love this design. The angles of the stern, the off angled masts, the embelishment above the stern gallery, and the lanterns are all just exquisite! I think it would look nice even without that hindged molding, but that is a nice touch. If she were mine (or I should say) when I replicate this I would use the longer ratlines and add greater sheer at the bow. Perhaps rails at on both sides of the bowsprit would add the desired sheer. On the subject of duplicating this beauty, I will be sorry to see my seige tower go > I guess I will just have to save up for another.
  3. A classic tune by a men's chior From Tanglefoot 1 of many great songs by disneyland live preformers. I believe they're called the Bootstrappers. The group Great Big Sea Great Big Sea - Captain Kidd I sometimes do a general search of sea "shanty" or "chantey" and usually find songs of a more traditional style. I've collected a few piratey MIDI's as well and that's how I learned to play "I'm a Pirate" from PotC on piano. At the moment, I am in search of the Cutthroat Island soundtrack.
  4. Your flattery, in particular, always brightens my day but also regretful that I have not been active in my moc efforts.
  5. Almost definatly some kind of amy ant! I like the new hair doos. I forsee someone creating a pulp fiction moc with that bowl cut.
  6. If your'e only going to buy one set of this line, this is the one. It has a troll, orc's armor, two different color orc helmets, a dwarf and (at least for me) the more nautical parts the better. Where is this available so far? Somebody, please tell me when this hits the midwest US.
  7. This contest really brought out some wonderfull mocs all around. Congrats to all!*y* This contest would have been the exact sort of thing I would have jumped on, had I been more inclined. I'm just not feeling it lately *sad* . Anyhow , I,ve archived my favorites for later inspiration. My top 3 favs were Hinckley, Benk, and CVSPIS_CELIDVS
  8. I can't say I've had anything happen to me personally. The ouija board don't even work with me. :-P I am intersested in cryptozoology, the alien agenda, and even things like bottomless pits. There is this stort story about a cave discovery that is very compelling if true, though the way it ends makes it seem a bit manufactured. Ted's Caving Page
  9. 10. I don't have a favorite way because I don't like Oreo's. Although I am far from rich and almost never eat at any kind of restaurant, I am very particular about most things. If I can't afford something the way I like it, I'll do without it. On that note, why Oreo :-X if I could have Nutter Butters, or why have any kind of hard cookie sandwich, when you could make soft warm freshly baked pillsbury dough chocolatechip cookies?
  10. I had a clear view from my porch and would have watched it for more than 10 seconds if it wasn't so freakin' cold out. So if you go outside and see your own planet's shadow, how many weeks of winter do we have left?
  11. I store mine in bioncle canisters sorted by theme and a couple filled with minifig accessories. I also store the animals in the same fashion.
  12. That's a wave of destruction that's easy on the eyes! :-D
  13. I voted for the monkey. I remember being really excited about the little guy when it was first released. Now I'm more partial to the octopus although it's not technically part of the pirates theme. Crocodillians within the Gulf of Mexico include American alligator, American crocodile, and spectacled caiman just to name a few. Here is more info on that if you're interested.
  14. This sort of debate is exactly why I always thought the entire back story should have been... Use your imagination to continue create The Adventures of the LEGOLAND
  15. I found a more legible photo HERE.
  16. I too, love the prickly pears. *y* The coach is also an inovative creation. The use of inverted arches is perfecto. Even the studs on the ceiling give the impression of curtains.
  17. We have discussed sculpey before in THIS topic and also other Davy Jones mocs, including mine :-$ which is also made of sculpey. ________________________ I like how you matched the minifig yellow on your Davy Jones and added the green speckling to it. At first I questioned "why the bright green on Jolly Roger's jacket," but seeing the minifig photo made me realize how well it works at defining the patern.
  18. I have something in mind for this and it's not even a brick beast this time. However I am going to be a lobster! :-P I'll have some entry photos up as soon as I get these rubber bands off of my claws.
  19. First I had to confirm my age just for the bloody commercial and then again to play the bloody trailer. :-D The predator ships are always awesome. Too bad we have most likely seen the extent of their screen time in the trailer. I think this movie will be a hit. People seem to respond well to exploding heads. :-)
  20. agreed! It's neither a great nor horrible set, but I would have reservations about purchasing it even at half price.
  21. Yeah! I know it's hard to see at first. ;-) It is the Avatar character called Sokka. Also, I would concur that minifig only mocs would do nicely in Pirate LEGO Customs.
  22. Good to know and I will remedy the inaccuracy, thanks ;-)
  23. Ah hah, I would have never remembered it had com from that set.
  24. I like the MC Hammer one best. :-D
  25. Most of my pirates have been wearing the same old cloths for over a decade and some for near a score. Anyhow, I was going through my minifig collection to cannibalize anything I could for additional recruitments. These are some of my favorites thus far. 1. starting on the left I used a face with orange glasses on his forhead so he has to wear a rag to cover it I don't recall which set it is from. 2. a dino face from 7473 - Steel Sprinter vs. Mutant Lizard (possibly the best face for a pirate) and an avatar character's legs to mach the blue vest. 3. Aquaraider diver's head and a Harry Potter's goblin torso along with a bandana to cover the tie. 4. Professor Snape's uniform with Malfoy's face 5. I liked Snape's uniform so well I used it twice but I wanted to compare different colored epaulettes. He has a familar face from many newer sets and the unmarked bicorn hat from 7029 skeleton ship attack. That's all for now. I may do some more later and if anyone has suggestions for newly released set's minifig retrofitting, please share your ideas.
