  1. why not just a wormgear and a small cog? or small linear actuator to move the linkage to the live axle recirculating ball is more like a linear actuator - (making a geared down compact version of a worm drive in the same space... ) also there is the technic threaded axle (3737c01), you could make something slide up and down it (the bolts could be attached between 4 studs like the bushes can) with a balljoint on it and connect that to the link arm to the steering. But that only appeared in 4 sets....
  2. 8880 but by not buying it I made my own 4wd and 4ws setups which I wouldn't have bothered with otherwise...
  3. Amazing to think how delicate those littlen chain links are and how together on this shaft they are good enough to power a car.....
  4. Nothing that complicated DrJB ! .....if you check the website you can see they have a compressed air cylinder in the back of the car ideally it would have some sort of KERS system to run compressors and store the air inside a tubular chassis.... ;-p
  5. We did not have internet back then, now the flipping of the lid and the transparent tray's functions have been replaced by the internet...
  6. the engine is the star indeed.... defiinately very lego-esque as no centre-point steering even if they did have the space to do it... I would be interested to see the gearing - possibly a chain drive and most definately some sort of clutch to apply the power to the drive train (possibly connected to that big lever you see in between the seats) Engine reminds me of old aircraft engines.... As for the power to weight ratio of LPE power - surely a powered glider is a possibility ? (as long as only the engine is Lego LPE and the compressed air in lightweight carbon fibre tanks or the frame of the plane itself)
  7. engine is purely LPE power - I wonder what the drive to the wheels is? lego gears surely not - I suspect some kind of chain drive....
  8. nice independant rear suspension now .... so much crammed in there...! the lights are a master-slave function - hydraulics works better like this thats why he had to put water in there...
  9. Looking very robust and the gearing seems right... perhaps a servo for the front steering... i see no advantage independantly controlling the front steering like that (I suppose your intention is to connect both M motors to the same channel eventually anyway) but its just calling out for larger after market tyres... they look too far apart with standard lego ones.... (sorry purists)
  10. One day when I have time and pieces I want to make a modular tatra-esque solution so you can have 6x6 or 8x8, 10x10 up to 12x12 by just adding steering or normal modules in pairs of wheels
  11. two-stage lights on some models... i suppose that means 'on' and 'off'
  12. ok ok a diff maybe forget it, but you did independant on the front (probably need CV joints though).... like here: ...and the whole car is a beauty I do like it very much but I am more and internals guy than goodlooks.... (i'm rubbish at body work)
  13. the colourful issue is one we all face with lack of right coloured parts - easily fixed in future versions and bricklink shopping sprees, but with all due respect - the rear suspension of the Miura is independant and not live axle (also you have room for a differential)
  14. Love that truck and the old school pneumatics....
  15. makes me want to buy the 42000 just to make this model!
  16. perhaps the instructions are a bit easily misunderstood on that section - no big deal and getting things wrong makes you learn how the system works and helps learning....
  17. I had the same issue I think the instructions are wrong so I swapped the hoses round (not the middle one) and all was OK
  18. is it me or does the front loader look like a simplified 8453 with wheels too big ?
  19. I think lego have made this set and the team building set only slightly more interesting than average due to the interesting parts plus they're great for younger builders....
  20. I dont think "you should see the B model" should be a pick-up line....
  21. I tried with an external Pump/compressor and airtank and found better results just using the compressor on its own and no airtank I used the RC motor - I also fitted the same pump to my 8421: I never fitted it into the 8455 but now I think I will have to give it a try.... !
