I have recently returned to the LEGO Technic hobby with the purchase of 9398 after a couple of months away from it. I have also been given two weeks off work at short notice so I can't wait for anything "online" to arrive. This is my chance to get right back in to it so I want some sets to use for parts to do some MOC'ing. Based on my budget and what is in the shops at the moment I have these choices. Option 1. 9394 Jet Plane 9395 Pick-Up Tow Truck 9395 Pick-Up Tow Truck 42005 monster truck (Not in shops yet, should be in next few weeks, keep cash for this when it is released locally) 42008 service truck (Not in shops yet, should be in next few weeks, keep cash for this when it is released locally) Option 2. 9394 Jet Plane 9395 Pick-Up Tow Truck 8110 Unimog Option 3. 9394 Jet Plane 9395 Pick-Up Tow Truck 9395 Pick-Up Tow Truck 9392 Quad Bike 9393 Tractor

Lucky you, I hope you enjoy it. I only just started looking at this set over the weekend but I was far too late to the party and have no chance of getting on at a decent price :(

Thanks for the replies. I have put these on eBay and I will see what sort of bids I get. Asking $350 for them each.

I did make a MOC of something like this with a bin lifter a few years ago, sadly I don't have any photos of it. I did post it up on here at one stage. -
Has anybody ever considered selling a LEGO MOC? Would you even do this and if so how would you price it? Would you base the price on the cost of the pieces? I am really keen to hear from anybody who has done this or would consider it in the future.

I think mine is 8848 - Super Street Car, about a 1/3 of the way down on this page I have done a small write up on it. http://mizibunktechnic.blogspot.com.au/p/my-technic-collection.html If we expand this to include MOC's and C/D models built using only a single set then I would say either of these two: http://mizibunktechnic.blogspot.com.au/p/mbt-open-wheel-sports-car-c-model-of.html http://mizibunktechnic.blogspot.com.au/p/8461-d-model-nathanael-kuipers-nk-sport.html

That is an amazing setup, I dream of having something like that one day :)

http://mizibunktechnic.blogspot.com.au/p/mbt-open-wheel-sports-car-c-model-of.html In April I purchased the latest LEGO Technic F1 car, set 42000. Not long after purchasing this set a friend of mine also purchased this set, I ended up building the A model while he built the B model (race truck). Comparing these two models the F1 is clearly the much better set; the race truck feels a little “half done”. I was recently looking online and undertook some research in to if anybody had designed or built a C model of this set, at that point nobody had so I decided to challenge myself to build my own C model based on this set. When I started thinking about what I wanted to build I had a few guidelines in mind: - It uses ONLY the pieces from set 42000. - It uses as many of these pieces as possible (At least 75%) - It is scaled roughly to the same scale as set 8070 - Looks different to the A and B models of 42000. I didn't want to just make an improved version of either of these sets. After spending an hour taking 42000 to pieces I had a couple of large containers full of pieces with which to build. I started with the front end where I built the steering scaled to that of set 8070. Next I built the rear drive and suspension system, this is based roughly on the system used in the A model of 42000. Next I built the bottom frame of the chassis which connected these two sections together. The next step was to add the V8 engine and built the frame to hold this. I then progressed to the main cabin where I added the seats and built the frame for the cabin, added the doors and steering wheel. After this I added the rear panels and opening cover. I then went back and added some more details, added some extra beams to strength the chassis and also built the opening bonnet. In the end these were the features I added: - Front mounted V8 engine connected to the rear drive wheels - Hand of God steering via a knob inside the cabin - Rear auto levelling suspension - Opening rear cover via knob in cabin - Opening bonnet (manual) with locking pin - Opening doors This was my first time trying to build my own C model and I really enjoyed the process, challenge and end result. Limiting myself to just the pieces from this set was quite a challenge and at times I had to go back and change the way I had done things or the pieces I had used due to needing those pieces for something else. I also tried to keep the colours as uniform as possible, this became more of an issue the closer I got to the end when I started to run out of some parts and some colours. I also had to go back and swap a couple of pieces in the front end; this meant rebuilding quite a bit of this. In the end I used over 80% of the pieces of the original set and I am quite pleased with it. I resisted the urge to use any extra pieces from other sets and this meant changing how I built some parts of the car, this helped to make me try different things and in the process made me a better builder. I am planning on going back to this in a couple of weeks and see if I want to make any changes to it then. I spent about 20 hours over the past week working on this, now time for a break :) Photos on my blog: http://mizibunktechnic.blogspot.com.au/p/mbt-open-wheel-sports-car-c-model-of.html

I have spent the last week working on a C model of set 42000. http://mizibunktechnic.blogspot.com.au/p/mbt-open-wheel-sports-car-c-model-of.html -
Looking good. I am also building a "C" model of this set, I will post it up once I finish it.
