  1. Thanks for all the replies :) I don't really want to give away what I am thinking of building, all I will say is that it will have some Technic type functions in it. I did a little bit of design work on it last night, working on the functions before I make the building around them.
  2. I have been thinking a bit of late about trying to make a building using LEGO Technic, along the lines of 8680 (see link below) http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=8680-1 Most sets and MOC's I have seen are of vehicles or something close to this, has anybody tried a building MOC and want to share any advice or photos? If this was a more modern "studless" type this would be even better. My idea is to try and do something a little bit different :) Paul http://mizibunktechnic.blogspot.com.au/p/my-technic-collection.html
  3. Today's little project has been to design and build a grabbing claw for LEGO Technic set 8043, here is the end result with step by step photos and a video on my blog below: http://mizibunktechnic.blogspot.com.au/p/moc-logging-claw-for-8043.html
  4. Do you normally keep any record of your failed MOC's, photos or even a few notes on it? I keep track of my "successful" MOC's on my blog but don't put up any that didn't work. Today I spent the afternoon on a MOC only to find in the end it didn't work out, should I take any photos or notes on it to keep track of it in the future? Does anybody else do this?
  5. Well after a couple of weeks I am about to start doing some mods to this model. My list of ideas includes: - Opening doors - Opening bonnet - A 5 speed gear box (based on 8448) - Power functions motor All my information and ideas plus photos for this set are now on their own page: http://mizibunktechnic.blogspot.com.au/p/8461-d-model-nathanael-kuipers-nk-sport.html
  6. That is not a bad idea, I might look in to that :)
  7. I am still going to wait until I have them in my hot little hands before I decide if they are any good or not :)
  8. Today's little project. I will be adding more of my sets as I rebuild them. http://mizibunktechnic.blogspot.com.au/p/my-technic-collection.html Does anybody else have a webpage where they list their sets like this? I would be keen to see others to get some ideas.
  9. My votes have changed now, I would say 8448 would be right at the top of my list now as would 42000 and 8461 (Sports Car)
  10. I have just found this post and it has given me some ideas for adding a motor to drive the back wheels (off the ground) of mine. I am also going to look at adding a remote control for the gear box so I can control this.
  11. I try and play with mine as often as I can, even if it is just to move them on the shelves :)
  12. Is this seen as a good thing by the AFOL community?
  13. I think I was reading on here somewhere that some people have seen problems with leaving these heavy sets on display in the same spot for long periods of time.
  14. Here is mine: http://mizibunktechnic.blogspot.com.au/2013/06/my-technic-setup-june-2013.html I keep these sets on display, I have another 4 in pieces which I use for building MOC's and also doing modifications.
  15. Thanks :) I am fairly settled with it now, time to get serious about building :)
  16. I don't own this set any more but when I did I also noticed the same problem. I pulled all the gears out and gave them a good clean every now and then,
  17. Well I have sold off some stuff (My Samsung tablet and a radio scanner) so I now have some more cash to buy LEGO with :) Here is a photo of me latest setup, some spare shelf space for some new additions soon :)
  18. I never even knew that existed. Maybe they should be combined and made a sticky?
  19. I know a few of us run websites or blogs for our hobby, I thought it would be a good idea to have a thread where we can list them so others can find them easily. Quite often I am online and have spare time so having a list of websites and blogs to keep up to date with would be good. Here is mine: http://mizibunktechnic.blogspot.com.au/ Just reply with a link to your website or blog and maybe a little bit about it. Lets try and limit the chat in this thread to that related to our websites and blogs.
  20. Well done on all the views on your blog, how long have you been running it for? I cracked 12,500 on mine yesterday :) http://mizibunktechnic.blogspot.com.au
  21. Thanks to Blakbird for point out where I had the two front panles on the wrong way, fixed and new photos uploaded with the fix done: http://mizibunktechnic.blogspot.com.au/2013/05/8461-d-model-nathanael-kuipers-nk-sport.html
  22. Something I have been thinking about (and I don't know if LEGO have ever released any stats) is the most and least popular sets by sales numbers? Are the larger sets the best sellers or are more likely to be the smaller and cheaper sets? What would number 1 be?
