  1. So as posted it sounds like double points is the best way to go to get a discount (ok it doesn't discount the set you buy but does give you 2x the amount you paid) for exclusives and such...does anyone have a timeline on when double points occur? I know October, but I thought there were other times as well. I guess I will just use my coupon for the Hobbit House Unexpected Gathering that the kids and I have been checking out or I guess it would work on the UN HQ Architecture set since that is coming out before the coupon expires on Oct 13.
  2. aha, ok, I missed that, was it the CN Tower in Toronto? I have been searching around on other sites and really the Architecture line seems to be ignored...they have the Maersk Container ship, the new Parisian Restaurant, the upcoming Princess line, the new Friends, etc all on Brickipedia (http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/2014) which seemed to be the most complete list of 2014 to date, but no architecture.
  3. Tom, not understanding what you mean on the April Fool's joke, did I miss something? Are Marina Bay Sands and Eiffel not coming out? I saw someone in another thread say Trevi Fountain as well.
  4. The coupon says this: *Discount is valid on one item only in one transaction only. Discount cannot be applied to the value of gift cards purchased, out -of-stock or backordered items. The LEGO Store reserves the right to exclude other items - see Store for details. Discount is not valid on any applicable tax or shipping costs, and cannot be used for phone orders, online orders, of Shop & Ship orders. VIP points will be earned on value of purchase after discount. Limit one coupon per transaction. Cannot be applied to previous purchases or combined with any other discount or coupon. Discounts do not stack. Offer valid only in the United States. Coupon must be surrendered at the time of purchase and value is forfeited if item is returned. Only original coupons will be accepted. Void where prohibited. Coupon cannot be redeemed for cash or replaced if lost or stolen. Not valid at shop.LEGO.com, LEGOLAND parks LEGOLAND Discovery Centers or other retailers. Cash value 1/100 of 1c. The LEGO Group reserves the right to cancel or modify this promotion at any time without advance notice. Discount may not apply to Exclusives, LEGO Mindstorms and LEGO Hard to Find items. See a Brick Specialist for details. I now have to see an eye specialist, dang that is small print.
  5. after seeing this garage, I had to take a look at your ships...just amazing all around, very creative talent and definitely tell that you have that perfectionist touch...work is top notch, thanks for sharing
  6. LEGO Architecture 2014 Set News Picture courtesy Promo Bricks. Thanks Herky for the news. 21020 Trevi Fountain Price: ?? Parts: ?? Original Post Follows Have been following the 2013 thread and figured we needed a 2014 thread to go along with the others...from what I keep hearing the Marina Bay Sands and Eiffel Tower will be out, but have not seen or heard a date on those two. Not sure if there are other rumored sets yet or not...would love to see what others have heard.
  7. Really great work, I too noticed the figurehead, just a lot of amazing detail...makes me want to see the guns a blazing as you take down those ocean going enemies.
  8. very cool Mater, you did a very nice job...now the challenge would be to make all the character's in Mater's tall tales
  9. this looks great, always fun to see how creative everyone is when building, very interested to see the final build
  10. I really like your version of the car, wonder if white was the best choice though as I think you have great lines in it, but they get a bit lost due to the white. It's very accurate and I am thinking it is on the same size as the Charlotte VW Beetle. Excellent job!
  11. sorry there Rick...so to get back to it, looks like 4th Q will be UN so will the Marina Bay Sands or Eiffel Tower hit in 2013 or does anyone know if those are going to be 1st Q 2014? Any other rumors for 2014 or do we need a new thread for 2014? rollermonkey, I think your dilemma will be solved for you since the UN is scheduled for Oct 4th is what I saw others post
  12. I have some good friends in your neck of the woods Tom, might be heading that way next summer for a visit, so let's keep in touch and see if you still want to unload and we might be able to make a deal.
  13. a lot of good stories and advice here, makes sense to keep them if you can, my parents did for me, boxes, instructions and all...Naf's post really says it all for me one thing I have learned about Lego is that the value is always there, Lego does not seem to drop in value ever, other toys cannot say that
  14. never dawned on me that this was the truck that delivered the trees, makes sense now, kids have taken away my brain cells, hahaha...really wish I had started collecting the winter village sets
  15. my daughter really wants one, but I am not sure if it will really be one of those things that she likes a lot at first but then it gets old after 3 days and goes onto the shelf never to be heard of again, I would be interested to know what TLG was going for when creating the Studio set...there really is no shortage of buildings they can do, but maybe they want to start finding the next generation of master builders?
  16. I really like the Christmas tree vendor, but am a bit at a loss on the second one...at first thought it was a snowplow, but it isn't...more of a delivery truck, which I am not sure what this has to do with Christmas. I like it, but just confused on it being a part of the holiday line. Maybe it just fits with the winter village line in some respect, which is great, I would love to have all those, really like the carousel theme to this years set.
  17. Dropped in on the store today as the catalog I received yesterday had the UN Building in it, but the store folks said they didn't have it and they also had the catalogs. The store also said that minecraft was only available as an online purchase to order, but they did have the original one on hand for sale. So...came home empty but ordered the MC online and no UN there either. New catalog in US has a 10% off coupon in store only...at least mine did.
  18. I think Fuzzy had the answer I wanted, all time biggest sets, and I have to believe that is somewhat accurate as other than Sydney, has anything come out to crack that top 10...wish I could afford some of those sets, will get the Opera House at least, but most of the rest are on the secondary market commanding big coin. Would love to have the Taj Mahal, but that's a lottery dream right now, I would rather try to pick up Cafe Corner or Green Grocer first. I do think the query Paperball describes is useful, helps to see what is out there currently and see if you like the big sets. I think the big sets for the most part are more fun for me, as I usually like big builds and the challenge that comes with them.
  19. My apologies if this has been answered, but I have been doing some research to try to find out the set with the most pieces. I have the Tower Bridge set and figured at 4287 pieces that might be it, but found out that the Taj Mahal has 5922 pieces. I checked the Statue of Liberty, the Eiffel Tower, Death Star, new Sydney Opera House, etc...but could not find any set that had more than the Taj Mahal. Does anyone know which set has the most pieces in it? Is it the Taj? Thanks!
  20. Been to California, was bummed I was not able to use my VIP card in the store which is when I found out Lego does not own the park, they were not quite finished with the hotel when we were there at Christmas last year. I would like to see the one in England and of course want to go to Denmark, have ancestors from Denmark and want to see Copenhagen as well as Billund.
  21. I am really excited to get this month's mini VW camper, but agree the Christmas set is sweet
  22. the inclusion of the fly is great! nice build
  23. It's a great little set, but I have to feel that the GB supporters would howl if the Wiz got picked over it...so I am hoping it doesn't hit 10K til after the period closes so it can be on the next session
  24. interesting, so what I think I have, from the pics I am posting, is someone who did the best they could in recreating this station but didn't quite get it right...plus I have other "signs" then which are not part of the set, a couple are clearly German or Danish maybe? I thought 310-5 was sold here, but from what you say maybe not. There was one complete and pretty much mintish set on ebay for a long time, but I didn't have the $450 the guy wanted, but was drooling over it. I would love to try to use what I have to recreate it as best I could but I know the box would likely be the hardest to get but I can get the instructions from different places...just not sure where what I have came from, maybe the Town Plan set then? Thanks for any help on this.
  25. Like many, I loved this book as a kid, read it over and over again, a few years ago my Mom gave me a hardback copy of this book and Katy as well for Christmas. Needless to say they are both in a special place and I love this MOC, pretty much all of Virginia Burton's books are great and that would be a fun line to see built. The Little House, Maybelle and I think she did a Choo Choo book as well. Sure it was back in 1939 when it was written, but there are likely a million or more folks that would pick up a Mary Anne who have fond memories of this...thanks for building and posting. Now you have to complement and do Mary Anne the furnace. One great thing for me is that there is an old steam shovel on display at a construction HQ here in St Louis and every once in a while I pass it and smile.
