  1. Now, I love this design ....and not only because my earlier work was the inspiration but a wonderful take on the classic 80's Shell service stations combined with that truck stop set. Brick On 'LT12V' !
  2. Ah, so that is an ATM in the side of the cafe and it appears to have a counter in there too.....perhaps there is an interior after all.
  3. Look what I found on Youtube......
  4. No, not mistaken at all.....point is research is done at both north and south poles. Plus more the point even though we have mostly desert and our cities on the coast, we have research bases, etc., in Antarctica. To truthful, we don't know what kind of place Legoland is.....it's polar region might just be ten clicks from the CBD ?
  5. I always enjoy your story telling 'greg3'.......I say good luck to your friend there.......with his wife unimpressed, he's going to need it ! Brick On 'greg3' !
  6. The box art speaks to me as they look better folded out as open back buildings......which makes the cafe into a coffee shop and bakery.
  7. That's one cute and cool tanker 'de-marco'......I it ! Brick On 'de-marco' !
  8. Very nice try at a F1 car........the driver doesn't seem to be sitting low enough in the cockpit ? Still the basic styling and colours are spot on.......Brick On race On 'gvoosuuc' !
  9. Now we are getting picky.......lucky I was excellent at geography at high school. Australia has the largest claim in Antarctica....... Now, let's see....ah, city is modern world.....yes, but maybe if Lego intends of extending the city limits to a few thousand Km's.....maybe calling it Modern World would be better. A city is a habitat to live, work and play, so is a town or village.....a research base is not really such a thing......true you work there, you sleep there, you can have snow ball fights there. On the other hand, can you go to the shops ? no, can you go to hospital ? no, can you take a train somewhere ? no......only way in and out.....helicopter or ice breaker.....real city transportation ? I have no problem with the subtheme as such, but calling it a city subtheme is just off.......what's next...... deep sea diving like from the 1990's ? (though that would be more plausible than an Arctic theme) Anyway, back on-topic.....I wonder if the ice breaker will have the standard ship haul or not ?
  10. Thanks for sharing again 'LEGO Historian', I just that image of the fully lined streets......er, with lots of cafes ! Those Kombi's with logos on them must be worth a pretty penny eh ?
  11. Excellent looking creation 'pjchilds', I really like the Karate studio the most.......Brick On 'pjchilds' !
  12. I wonder what the reasoning behind what sub-themes the designers in the City department chose sometimes ? Like with police, we know it's all about the money as it's meant to be their best selling sub-theme.....now something like Arctic research....not sure of a common thread or historic events that could inspire such ideas in a designers head. Anyway, what's done is done........I guess we might see some IRT MOC's carrying the equipment to their drilling sites......see imagination at work ?
  13. One of my many sources told me originally the house was going to be an exclusive for independents for two months and then general release after that, but now it has been reversed.....not many are being brought into the country......reason......they don't what to get stuck with them if they don't sell........yeah, you gotta love Lego Aust. logic ! Why should only Sydney Myers get them......a tad unfair to the rest of Australia don't you think ?
  14. Now that's an AWESOME , original and clever design 'Dfenz'........Brick On !
  15. Excellent build 'eurotrash'......great detailing indeed.......Brick On while singing.........
  16. AWESOME modular church 'Dfenz'.......I the leadlighting.......Brick On 'Dfenz' !
  17. Thanks 'monsinjor', but I don't think that style of pub would fit the town.....something a bit more outback-ish maybe......keep suggesting, keep watching !
  18. Neat modified's there 'Oran'.......Brick On Drive On 'Oran' !
  19. Very artistic indeed, clever use of parts as well.......your wife is totally becoming a skilled AFOL 'monsinjor'........Brick On the two of you !
  20. What about the third from the left top row......you gotta love a girl with a machine gun ! Some of those drawings loom a tad lame......a female answer to the Stig, a ninja, rock star or three.......kind of glad we got the one we did.
  21. It's going to be a few days.......I have to design the bucket first......oop's dropped a hint ! Keep watching !
  22. Great modified fire station and really neat gas station......any close ups of it ? Brick On 'Adamskii' !
  23. Cute set, though do pandas live in a jungle like that ? Again, it might appear Lego designers need geography lessons ? Gee, in Heartlake I wonder how young you can be to get your license to practice as a vet ?
  24. Wonderful looking modular 'ivanych', I really like the trim on the masonry work and the small touches of royal blue too. Brick On 'ivanych' !
  25. As adults we all have different opinions, tastes, etc., now if you read the word city what does make you think of ? Drilling into ice blocks for crystals or traffic driving along roads past buildings ? What is a child mean't to think seeing the word city on a box showing a polar mining operation for something other than what would be actually mined in such an operation ? Now some kids might not care or give two hoots......it's Lego to them and the name of each box doesn't really matter to them as long as it also says LEGO. Then on the other hand, if a child's teacher asks a student to write something they would find in a city and they write about a polar mine........D+ might be the grade on that kid's paper. Deep down this is a storm in a tea cup, what's done is done......the sets will be out in a few months, some people will buy them, others won't......all in all...it's LEGO and make it how ever you want. Let's hope we don't get bogged down and start drifting this topic in to the off-topic zone.
