Small illegal brewery for Octoberfest- 80 replies

When the barrel runs dry during Octoberfest those folks from Weelond can turn to desperate measures - moonshine! In the cover of the night and in an abandoned warehouse, two pals set about brewing the liquid with a hired guard at the door. The fireplace heats the container full of squashed potatoes with the vapour travelling down the pipe and cooled. The process is repeated into the large barrel where the fake whisky is poured into other containers for consumption (or not, I've never made moonshine. Don't try this at home kids). The older man stokes the fireplace. "Keep on walking, pal" __________ A small build for the Annual Octoberfest mini-challenge. Now where's my 25 DBs? I'll probably license it as a small factory in Weelond

Shipwrights Guild Hall (WIPs, feedback, and advice)
Spud The Viking replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
@Bodi I'm fresh out of hinges, even after a Bricklink order so I'm afraid it won't be that round. @kurigan I'll have a look at the class of ship later and thanks for the links to previous builds, it's always nice to how others have done it. The 2 stud wide bow is a black of thinner black pieces . I'll change the yellow bricks to 4x1s. Should I include an upper deck for the whole ship (probably change the class) or stick to an open gun deck? Thanks all for opinions and advice, I've never attempted a proper ship at this scale and the more criticism - the better! -
Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion, Era II
Spud The Viking replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
A warm welcome young sir! You show an impressive introduction and armed forces! I'm glad you also despise those lawless scum that deal in piracy. __________ It seems there are a growing number of poor university students in Corrington, not to worry it will be rewarding at the end (at least that's what I tell myself). -
Very nice. I'm glad you took the time to add the 'bricks' to the wall as it adds a lot to the interior!

Thanks! This was why I was tempted not to do hinges but 'he who dares wins'! -

An update to my build, some input required so I don't stray too far from the experts wisdom The white bricks indicate where the masts will be, a bit far apart I think? A bird's eye view. Ignore the dust, the plates will be tiled over -

Spud The Viking replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
@Bregir I'll change my hull shape and see if I want to slope it inwards, hopefully it will not be too complicated. A small Bricklink order came in this morning which should help an awful lot (hinges and other pirate-themed goodies) -
I'm a history buff, studying it at university, so I love the realism and tight 'rules' to history. Though, I feel no restrictions to building something wacky or unrealistic. I think you may only feel this way because nobody has really pushed the boundaries in terms of historical accuracy and it isn't easy being the first one to do so. I am bias towards history but I'd be totally willing to accept anybody's contribution, no matter the relevance to textbooks or encyclopedias.

I'll likely skip this to save on tiles and to simplify the mathematics a bit -
That's fine then, I'll begin building soon!

@Legostone thanks for the advice. I don't have the hinges but I think modified plates would work the same? I'm glad I've foreseen the trial and error of shipbuilding. The side should also go out before coming in using jumper plates too, yes? -
Do I have to register a build as one of my three monthly freebuilds for this event or are they counted separately?

Shipwrights Guild Hall (WIPs, feedback, and advice)
Spud The Viking replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Would it be possible for the sides of my ship to be sloped inwards? I have a lack of 1x1 slope pieces and tiles and I can't figure out if it would be worth the effort to make them sloped and just keep it vertical. -

Some progress on my latest ship. Still very much a WIP -
I also love the Eslandolan Merchant, such a great figure. My favourite though has to be the highlander, for obvious reasons. Great series overall!
