I have to say.... I think all of these sets look alright! I was one of those folks who pretty much claimed "Oh, not another damn police/fire line," and right, I still probably won't buy any of the police and fire sets. but they look pretty good! The civilian sets and the recycle sets look pretty damn fine. I will probably buy the two green trucks and the orange dump truck, as well as all of civilian sets. I wish they'd expand ambulance in 2012H2 for something bigger (i.e. hospital) The only recurring theme I'm a bit uncomfortable about are the sticker grilles for the majority of the vehicles. Horrible flashbacks of Town Jr and my quitting of LEGO (even as a 11 year old) because of such cheapness. Not saying the sticker grilles bother me right now to the point I won't buy them, though. Thanks for the pics!

Support the bringing back of Cafe Corner and Market Street
wooootles replied to iKonoKlasT's topic in LEGO Town
I'll call you guys idealists, but I'll call myself a capitalist LOL I've stocked up on Fire Brigades with every intention of selling them once it's out of production. There are people willing to pay 2-3x MSRP for these guys once they're out of production, after all. The market sets the price. That, and those things are good MOC parts packs. -

It's a sad state of affairs when I'm more inclined to buy something from this line than yet another Fire/Police in the actual 'boys' CITY line. Is there something wrong with me?
-
Until end of next year probably, if we are to follow CC and GG's release patterns. You should be safe I think

Lego Times Square (or similar, like Shinjuku district), minifig scale. That's going to ROCK
-
I like the building. I'm making an ice cream parlor too, but I was a little stuck on how to actually design it, especially the logo/ornaments on top of the building. Yours inspire me.

Wow so soon? And a town hall...Finally one after customers have 200 cops and 100 criminals?!? Let's hope this is true.

Green Grocer is usually already in the $300 USD price range. And I'm talking about sets that are being bid on, not "Buy it Now". Cafe Corner is now at least double that. Supply and Demand, not price gouging. People are willing to pay obscene prices for them, so be it. Fire Brigade isn't ridiculous yet, as it's still in production, or at least at LEGO store shelves.

Wow, this news... it's absolutely weak. you get Fire in 2010, Police in 2011, and... Fire and Police again in 2012???? I guess I can't argue with what 8 year old boys want, right? Moar cops pew-pewing bandits? *Queue long wait for next big modular* And I could give two brown bricks about a "Forest" subtheme, There ain't no "Forest" in a "City!" And no, I really don't like every other set having a Bandit, too. 6 Bandits on 7 Police sets... I was hoping they'd revisit Octan/automobile theme again, with race cars, gas stations, off-road pickups and hot-rods... They haven't had that in a while.

MOCs 95% of the time for me, from now on, if we're talking about buildings only. It's an addictive trend; you first start to experiment building your own until you get it just right, then you figure you can do better on the next MOC, so you build another.... then you find some cool tricks in here or flickr that you think you can apply to your next MOC.... it's a viciously awesome cycle! I still keep the vehicles around (modded a bit)

Why the heck did you put Market Street on fire???? Those things are $1000USD now! I like your supercharged grand Emporium. There's a lot going on; is there anything going to happen off your under-construction building?

Heck yeah, contemporary house design ftw. I like it, and funny enough I was thinking of making my sigfig one, too. I'm a fan of such designs.

What is your favorite Service Station in Lego City
wooootles replied to lightningtiger's topic in LEGO Town
6397 Master station reporting. Not only is it the best looking with the angled glass windows on the roof, but it's also my first town set ever. It's also among the first sets to feature a good amount of then-rare green pieces. 7993 comes damn close. Yes, the town sets in the last 5 years have been some of the best I've seen out of all town sets. But 6397 for me. -
No questions asked I will buy a copy or two of 10222. Very good piece colors and civilian fig booster like the other winter sets.

Hah, intersections are the most useless road plate! In what I'm envisioning with my town I would use one every 5 straight plates. Very nice marketing, LEGO... So I'm thinking of just making my own SNOT road system. Heck, i don't think I'll ever use a whole lot of curved roadplates, either. I could probably use some if I wanted to do landscaping on some coastal town or canyon town... but I'm no good at those. (unrelated note, they do sell BURP on LEGO pick-a-brick walls. Asking how teh heck could you even fit that in a cup without compromising so much space, the LEGO guy just said he'll give me one BURP piece at checkout when I fill up my cup so now I have 2 of those BURP. just sitting in my bins... As for more useless LEGO parts, how about 90% of the BIONICLE/Hero factory pieces? Wow. (The remaining 10% could be useful for my town since I'm contemplating a police enforcer mecha)

I've done something like that. 2 1x4 tiles, based on a 1x2 hinge brick 3937 and 2x2 hinge top 6134. I think they make a 2x4 tile now, which works better. 21st century needs some flat-panel widescreen tv's. Incoming shameless plug:

It's not a bad gig. Overall pretty good, though it didn't drop me like Grand Emporium did last time out. Is it sad though that I'm most excited by the amount of sand blue it has? I thought the first level will be all-stone grey like most modulars, but hot damn. But it looks like Green Grocer will still be the undisputed king of interiors, though.

I just can't get away from this can't I, everywhere I turn
-
$17 and only 64 pieces is sad any way you slice it. Bring back the brick built boats! (unintentional alliteration)
-
YES OH YES Thanks for this tidbit, I guess a few more days til we see the real thing!

Wow, nice and realistic. Interesting door build. There are a couple of areas in Memphis TN with buildings like that. Small-business types that has been around since forever.

Monorail never crossed my mind at all, but that would be nice wouldn't it? I only have 1 train set (blue/white passenger train) so I haven't dabbled much into trains/monorails Cool, I have been thinking about building apratments exactly like that too. My inspiration for Midtown Condo's are more specifically from Walnut Creek and Concord (Norcal) and Glendale. I wanna go back to CA Thanks for the additional comments everyone!

Thanks for the compliments guys Feels good and honored to be featured on Classic-Town again and the flattering comments I do have a plan laid out for my eventual town setup, but since I work very slow-ish, it will probably change a few times before I get to that bridge. Here's my vision in mockup 1:8 scale. I do plan to put a park, preferably in front of Midtown Condo's. Thanks guys!

Thanks, glad people like it lots! Hehe, now that I'm looking at it I did use a whole bunch of tan bricks and dark red tiles and windows that Grand Emp. and Fire Brigade used alot! But no, I used none of those. This was about 60% Bricklink (multiple stores at that), 20% PaB wall exploits, and about 20% CREATOR 6754 (3 sets). That's my rough estimate of my sources
