I especially just love what you did to GE. That top floor design is boss
-
I think FB was released in the fall of 09 rather than Q1 or spring like most other modulars----hence the longer time on the shelf. May disappear before the year's end. GE was released Feb of 10, so I suppose it's also possible than both of them may disappear around the same time.

Here's my traffic light design; Technic parts and snot bricks were the main ingredients I'll be watching this thread too as I am also looking for inspirations like the OP
-
I kinda like... everything on this MOC I do like the corner building the best, though. But nice overall layout, very very inspiring.
-
Thanks everyone. I'm glad people are still interested in this MOC! I was wondering when that would come up... Yes, the store front and some elements of the interior (i.e. the weird display things at the back) are based off Pinkberry stores. Somewhat of an easter egg I would say!

Thanks for looking. Reason I'm not so sure about the apartment is that I already have two fine apartment MOCs (apartments condos same thing ). The hotel is more of a possibility, especially when I have Pick-A-Brick'd a good amount of trans-blue 1x5 bricks for windows and is just sitting in my inventory. The skyscrapers themselves can be displayed (since they would probably fit in standard 32 x X baseplate widths), just the overall layout (roadplates, park etc) won't fit easy in my place. Oh and yes, I would love to put more greenery; it's something I had planned since I started to plan my district. If I could find more palm tree leaf pieces I'd spam those instead and make my district look more like SoCal or Miami

Hi folks, just a small update... Here's my updated view (and updated models!) of my 1:8 scale proposed layout. Of note is the (over)use of black tiles for roads. 1. Midtown Condominiums 2. Avenue Residences 3. WIP Fast food restaurant or coffee shop; may feature drive-thru 4. WIP LEGO store 5. Proposed Mexican Restaurant 6. small green area for a Wasabi monument 7. More apartments, might not happen 8. 5-star hotel, might happen in the distant future The area around 1 and 2 is about done, so that's the update! Also, I have no permanent display space for these things on my house, so I have to make sure my MOCs, especially the MOC roadplates, have to be 'modular' in a way, so I can store them easily. What do you guys think?

Brickworld Chicago 2012 Registration is Open
wooootles replied to BrickworldBryan's topic in Brickworld
Yeah, I'm excited, but unlike half of you I already finished the MOC I plan to bring. My next project will definitely take more than the remaining 2 1/2 months (I build slow). I'm down with pizza party? In a pizza place, some area in the hotel, or in someone's room? -
Those bullhorn looking things? Nah they're not guns. They're more like cameras or radar.

Nice, cool little 4-wides there. If it weren't for that V8 sign I would have thought that was an AE86! (but then who says you can't drop an LS1 engine into anything?) The dealership building looks like an actual dealership in an actual town, gj
-
Yep, took about 10 months on-and-off (I work really slow); I make progress for a month before taking a break from it for a month, so really, 5 months It gets interrupted by smaller MOCs and other hobbies/interests, plus I rarely stick to my original script; I had to tear it down completely a few times Thanks for looking, all! Here's one of the versions of this MOC in LDD; I stopped updating it when I realized I'm going to have to remodel it again anyways
-
Whoa, how did this thing get back up here? lol But thanks guys, I suppose people still take an interest at my biggest MOC Ah, I think this comment is supposed to be about my other MOC thanks though
-
It's a nice little dealership, complete with a salesman that I wouldn't trust with -anything- lol And -plenty- of cars! It's very detailed, too, with the roof windows, roof lamps, flags all over, looks like a real dealership! GJ
-
Aye those are some crazy good MOCs in that gallery--- I'm not so sure how my little apartment compare to some of those! It's likely that I'm going to bring this guy (and Midtown Condominiums) to Brickworld Chicago, so if any of you are coming, you could probably see them in person!
-
Thanks all! Now the bad news is that now I can't use the 1x2 plate spam technique on my next MOC Thanks. And I agree, because of the more modern style of my WIP district (such as this one) I'm having trouble shoving my Cafe Corner near this guy It might work better in another street... but that's discussion for my town now in general. But yes, I do try to somewhat differentiate from the true Cafe Corner-style fancy architecture.
-
Thanks for the comments and feedback! From my count, I used about 6 facade styles in this building Glad they worked together
-
Thanks all, glad peeps appreciate the exterior :D I think I get what you mean, especially when you compare it to, say, a more ornate Cafe Corner or Market Street architecture I tried to make it modern yet simple, and like my other big MOC, derived from modern American city style. They would go hand-in-hand well, I think.

Thanks for the comments, everyone!!! Glad people like it so far. Nah, she's just tired of moving in so she got drunk Thanks! Sand Blue! I got them cheap, paid about 120 x $0.10 a piece and bought the lot out at Bricklink! Too bad its so rare.

I would love to hear your opinions and/or suggestions, what do you guys think? Thanks for looking, as usual, and my flickr page is in my sig for more images!

I like the Hot-rod MT minifig (scaled down very nicely ), as well as the light blue luxury car. Nice use of chrome pieces throughout the vehicles!
-
Thanks! I did have to increase the floor height of my MOCs to accomodate the plate-height of my roadplates, so that's something to watch for, as well, if anyone wants to try it. A few MOCers do use that method---and I have considered it. There are other things too though that I may find harder to do on a SNOT-brick method, like putting studded broken lines (plates instead of tiles), among other things. Also, I got 1x8 tiles in bulk (as well as an uncommon-but-not-rare Pick-A-Brick appearances), so the method isn't really exorbitant as it may seem compared to other built roadplates. Thanks for bringing up the link, though! Thanks for the comments, guys. I am still waiting on shipments for more 1x8 tiles, so I still have work to do, hehe
-
Thanks guys, thanks! Going to need a whole lot of black tile here but I think it's worth it for my little district! I'll try to update it when I can! I was stuck between really big projects, but with my infrastructure/small MOC thread hopefully I can shame some more~ Thanks! it's actually based on a vending-machine-like dvd rental kiosk found near convenience stores/pharmacy stores across the USA

THE WASABI DISTRICT Hey all, I decided to make a thread where I can dump in what I've been doing to do with my (slowly) growing MOC/set collections. It will just be centered on an intersection of a main highway and a smaller road to begin with. I named it "Wasabi" because quite a few of my main female characters in online games (i.e. World of Warcraft) are named "Wasabiroll" (Likewise, male names are wooootles, +/- o's) and I decided the district may be cool with a "female" name UPDATED PLAN Here's the plan that I posted about a year ago: And so far, I think I'm still on track. The one labeled "current project" is done and should be posted soon (in a separate thread). I work slow. And now, some of the infrastructure that I started to do recently: The road system (5-27-12 WIP): SEE THE REST ON PAGE 2! Roadway (5-27-12 WIP) by wooootles, on Flickr The road system (WIP): brick/tile built Roadway (3-13-12 WIP) by wooootles, on Flickr Technic-built American-style traffic lights Roadway (3-13-12 WIP) by wooootles, on Flickr Fits LEGO CITY vehicles + parallel parking / bus stop space Roadway (3-13-12 WIP) by wooootles, on Flickr Roadway (3-13-12 WIP) by wooootles, on Flickr MOC: Redbox Kiosk Was going to do a separate post on it, but decided against it. Think I should make a few more copies and spread it around town? Redbox Kiosk by wooootles, on Flickr Redbox Kiosk by wooootles, on Flickr ---------------- I will be updating this thread whenever I get something made for infrastructure. What do you guys think? Also I'd like to see suggestions on what to add. As usual, there's more picture on my Flickr page. Thanks for looking!

Very nice! The choice of colors and their combinations is just great---very cool (or warm) mix of oranges browns and tans! And the architecture looks fancy but yet doesn't feel overdesigned; great job!

Yes, that's my Grand Tourer (something I shove in for a cameo on nearly all my other bigger MOCs)
