  1. Most sets have that type of life span, I'm sure through observation. Perhaps my 2 years may have seen so much, and yes some sets have longer or shorter lifespans, but it USUALLY goes as follows: Set comes out 2011, SHOULD be retired in 2012 (late 2012) Set comes out 2012, SHOULD be retired in 2013 (late 2013) and most retailers don't get rid of their sets on the very last day of the year, it's unrealistic, so USUALLY they tend to stick around for another month, hence giving them a "2 year" life span, but yes most of them are technically 1 year life spans. Also, the Zombies was a special release and not part of the regular wave and most sets like this get different life spans. Exclusives, D2C's, late releases and separate releases (like the Haunted House) last longer or shorter. And Lord of the Ring just so happened to expire December 2013, making them have a regular length of availability. Most sets last 1 year for example (January 2012-to January) before they stop having in-store sales (though Amazon and other online sites usually have sales for spread-across themes and year releases) and then they usually get discontinued 2 year after there release. Don't take me for a fool, these rules usually apply to most retiring set, I'd assume someone collecting Lego for as long as you have (according to the date of when you signed up) would know more about retiring sets, no offense but that's just the way I see it.
  2. Well first of all, there's a "which set should I buy" thread in the general discussion forum for these type of questions, and perhaps looking around should have gotten you there. As far as the sets I would recommend go, I recently took a huge interest into Ninjago, and I would suggest buying the Samurai Mech before it retires, and if you're wondering, yes it did stay around longer than other 2012 sets. But if Chima's where you're heading, perhaps Eris's eagle interceptor would be a good idea, then getting yourself the Skunk speedor set, which looks amazing. Or, if you're willing to go for it, I'd also recommend Gorzan's Gorilla striker. But please keep in mind that mods tend to close down such threads that have an appropriate thread elsewhere on the forum, I can see you're relatively new, but should you ever have the same question, I suggest going here for reference: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=82467
  3. Well the one fire character with a name comes in a set with Gorzan (a hero) and Maula, who I hope/think is female comes in a set with 2 former villains so it's possible it's the other way around. Though I could very much see you being right on this, that would make the minifigure selection for the Sir Fangars set very awkward. Oh wait never mind, Sir Fangar is a Sabre Tooth tiger, not a fire character, though will these be represented as phoenix's? If so, then Lego really needs to come out with a Dark Phoenix for Marvel.
  4. As this is an index, and bumping threads is a big no-no around here, can I please ask to have this pinned, I intend on contributing to this sometime later this year (maybe) thanks!
  5. The link you posted said that you can own a set early on January 17th if your a VIP and get to preview a set that'll be available early to VIP's on February 17th. Obviously the January release will be the Sea Cow, as has been confirmed earlier, and that means the "preview" set has to be...
  6. I was just going to mention that light blurring out details in the interior, wish we could have seen it all, but I was really hoping it would be a bathroom . Now my Simpsons figures will be filthy all over! Anyways in all seriousness, I doubt Lego would go through with a theme showcasing 2 of it's most iconic animals on the box art and not put them in a money maker theme that is the Collectible Minifigure series which is breeding ground for interesting animal molds anyways. This debate seems sort of pointless, with Lego's past, aren't we guaranteed SLH and Snowball at this point? I mean their on the logo.
  7. I love this topic, hope I help someone out today The Simpsons house retires December 2015, while the Parisian Restaurant will more than likely be around until late 2016, or late 2017. Yeah. Also, the Simpsons house is spot on and has a great interior, and over 4 rooms! Each with beds, and a hallway! Lego houses are almost always just a 2 floor shell of nothing, if we're lucky, we get one room, never with a bed. Here we get a hallway, 4 beds, a garage with room for both a car and a workshop, AND each room is accessible by a door, Lego houses are always so awkwardly missing doors to rooms, and this house looks like, well an actual house! You have more time to get the restaurant and the aftermarket prices for the Simpsons house (I can assure you) will be WAY higher than that of the PR. I don't know who will do this, but I hope someone does put up a thread for retiring sets. Say a set came out 2012, it won't retire until late 2013 (January 2014 basically) If a set came out (like say Baxter's robot rampage?) in 2013, it won't retire until say January 2015 (or late 2014). You have about 1 year to get the robot rampage, my motto is to always get a soon to be retiring set over the new ones. Why? You'll have 2 years to collect a new one, but almost always just 1 (or less) to collect the old one. I'd go for Baxter's or really any 2013 set at this point. And if your lucky, get something from 2012, you never get opportunities like that (at least not often) so go for it. Have fun with you TMNT set, I own it and must say that it is great! No clone wars? Pitty, but I do suggest gathering up just 10 more euro's before the trip to get the Rancor pit, or if anything just get the Duel on Geonosis set. Personally, I'd go for the Rancor, though the minifigs in 75017 are visually stunning, the design of the Rancor pit (as well as the actual Rancor) are preferable, hope I helped! Also, in a little regard to something I said earlier (possible 2 pages ago), I was debating on whether to get Jabba's Palace or the Rancor pit. I got Jabba's palace for Christmas and plan on putting sets 10228, 9467, and 9444 from Monster fighters on lay-away and hold off on getting the Epic Dragon battle. Why? Because that way I don't miss out on Monster fighters (nearly died when I thought I did, I know I'm a wuss ) and I get to still own the Epic Dragon battle, how you may ask? Because that set and 9449 won't be out until 2015! I love it when sets get a 3 year run, especially when it's one I really wanted so now I have all year to get the Epic battle, and for some reason, Lego decided to keep the Samurai Mech and Lasha's fang cycle available for an extra month, meaning that almost all the 2012 Ninjago sets got retired but 4, and 2 are "retiring soon". But I should be getting the Samurai Mech sometime next week (or this week!). So a tip of the hat and no wag of the finger to those who wished me luck! Good day to all and to all a good day!
  8. Tell the fellows to summon the knights, and take troops to Jipay's way, and meet back at the general discussion to rendezvous. THIS MEANS WAR! Seriously though, why did they take such liberties in talking about us like we choose who gets what position through a "strict" system, like seriously a "strict feudalist hierarchy" and they went out of their way to quote just2good and haha I quote "My pants are wet remarked Eurobricks Grand Duke just2good, both expressing his excitement and summoning a manservant to freshen his trousers". How hilariously ridiculous, because everyone on the internet has to make a comment about everything.
  9. Hope I'm not too late to the party, but it goes as follows: 9450 Epic Dragon Battle (I NEED that set) 9448 Samurai Mech (might need to update that next week ) 7931 T-6 Jedi Shuttle (Just got 7930 a month ago, so now I'm craving that set even more, and Shaak Ti) 9526 Palpatine's Arrest (It wasn't released with the regular 2012 Summer Wave, which SHOULD mean I could still get it ) 71006 Simpsons House (my first 2014 want!) The entire Collectible minifigures series (Lego Movie) CMF Series 10 Grandpa CMF Series 10 Mr. Gold, but that's not happening any time soon. 10211 Grand Emporium 10218 Pet Shop 60026 Town Square Also need to go to a Lego store for the first time (I'm a Lego store virgin ) and buy enough pick a brick red fire pieces to stimulate a serious fire so that my Lego fire fighters have something to do all day!
  10. I'm a kinght! Don't mess with me, because according to the internet, I can now fight in an army of castle men!

  11. This doesn't belong in this topic, but who am I kidding, I have to give my 10 cents, what else would I do with a dime? Get this set, the amount of detail in each room surpasses that of any single house in Lego history (OK, a bit of an exaggeration, the HH was very detailed). The garage has space for a car and still has a workshop! Most Lego houses only have one room, and they almost always lack a bed, this house comes with what looks to be 4 bedrooms, and each has their own bed (or crib)!. The rooms are connected with doors, something most Lego houses lack, I mean seriously, they are all just staircases leading up to rooms, this house not only has stairs (which are awkwardly absent from most Lego houses, anybody else notice that?) but doors and a hallway! Other than that one inch stimulation of what could be considered a hallway that was the 2008 Death Star, but it also comes with the couch fitting all the figures (except Bart, who still looks natural sitting on the floor. The amount of detail in this house got me excited, and I've never seen more than 2 episodes of the Simpsons! (And they don't fall under the category of "classic) Both this set and the Parisian Restaurant will still be available in 2015, so don't worry, I doubt you'll only get one, plus modulars tend to stick around longer. So save up and get this one, I spent my 500th post trying to convince you to buy this set, for all of it's amazing details and hallways, new colors etc. Don't make this post be a flap, get this set now, you'll have double this time to get the Parisian Restaurant anyways! In other news, I'm a knight! Hope Corneilius doesn't mind this post hopefully he can save on yelling at me, and just move this to the appropriate topic in the general discussion.
  12. Detailed garage, fitting couch, beds in most of the rooms, and my personal favorite, accessible doors! Usually Lego houses only have doors on the front, but each room has their own door, this may be the only set I don't get when it is close to retiring, I want as much time as I can with this baby! Wow, I mean seriously, wow, everything about how great this set is, please people, buy more Simpsons sets! I need more quality sets! Who cares about the figures when you have a set like this, and over 16 other ones to back those up! I can't find a single thing to complain about here! Good job Lego. Also, I quoted the image in case someone doesn't know where the original post was made, and want's to see the set. But if you want to see the original post, it's the last post on page 31 of this thread.
  13. Well first off, no I'm not complaining that we're not getting a Lego Oracle, seriously she has no chance of being made. Batgirl yes, Oracle, no. What bugs me is that DC only gets 4 mainstream sets and in Marvels initial wave, they'll be getting 5. One more won't hurt right? But with the 2 Juniors sets, they're added up to DC having 6, and Marvel having 6. Then you add up the 3 DUPLO sets, and DC has 9 and with the 4 extra Marvel sets, Marvel has 9. And since DC had 6 sets last year, and Marvel had 5, it seems kind of right that this year DC got and Marvel got 9 right? But no, everything DC has, Marvel has to have too, DC gets Ultrabuilds, Marvel gets Ultrabuilds, DC get's 1 more set 1 year, Marvel gets more the next. But if DC is getting DUPLO sets, (unless that requires a seperate contract, which I seriously doubt) then Marvel will also get DUPLO sets. Seriously though, If DC got 8 real sets in 2014, that'd be fine, but 3 are DUPLO (and practically useless) and the 1 other is a Juniors set, which leaves us with only 4 "real" sets, and that is IMO very disappointing. And all 4 of those are Batman sets. 2014 just seems like a giant middle finger to DC fans. It goes as follows: DC is getting 8 sets this year! -Only half are actual system sets. DC's 4 sets will have more than just Batman! -Batman's still the central focus, and even then only 2 hero's are new, 1's a Bat-family member (who I love by the way) and as for the other 2, one's also a Bat-family member, and a remake, and the other is missing Leg printing. So Lego can put Leg printing on figures that really don't need it (the Kryptonians come to mind), but they can't put it on the one fig who actually needs it? Wow. DC is getting one non-Batman set this year! -It's a DUPLO Superman set. That's just sad. Forgive me for getting mad for what has evidently been proven to be another Batman year but the time has come, the time has come people! A DUPLO Superman is officially the most exciting thing for DC superheroes 2014!
  14. Great moc, a million times better than Lego's I might say!
  15. Will there really be 3 "Spaceships" in the name? Funny.
  16. I'm practically throwing a bitch fit right now. Seriously. The New 52 hurt me by wiping out Oracle. Change hurts. But it's nice to move on right? Wrong! DC decides to move on with Lego sets, yay! But whoopedi-doo, they're DUPLO! Have fun with your oversized Lex Luthor. At least someones getting DC sets later on in the year
  17. Though I don't know you, it's always nice to see someone become part of the Mod-regulating team! I never really knew it, but apparently Technic is really popular! But I have little to no interest in technic, and I love sci-fi, so best of luck to you in your struggle to bring back life to one of my favorite forums!
  18. This made my day, but better off going in the multimedia forum.
  19. Hey just2good, just noticed you're a grand duke! Congratulations, not too far from getting fellowed I'd say!

    1. just2good

      just2good

Ha, thanks! We'll see about the fellowship though... Maybe I'll be an arch duke before that. ;)

  20. FaeFrost: I'm sure I heard about that little incident, though never put much attention into it. Jabba's palace retailed at about $120, and was arguably the flagship set of summer 2012 (though Palpatine's arrest also falls under this category) and sets of that esteem usually get a 3-4 year lifespan, as opposed to the regular 2. So I'm sure that if that "group" didn't speak out, we'd see some more of that set, even in 2015! How crazy is that? Then blame Lucasfilm, not Lego. Either way, none were trying to offend anybody. Oops, just saw Rick's comment, nevermind what I said
  21. May I ask how you came upon both this set and the Sea Cow from the Lego movie? Seems a bit odd, how are you getting these sets so early? Rick seems to be on top of things on this website. He had the front page news updated the minute this picture was leaked, and now over 30 members are viewing this thread. Good job Rick, good job.
  22. I don't see any printed base plate! This would have been the perfect opportunity, I don't even have one in my collection! Also, I'm starting to really like Flanders and Homers heads! Maggie's is looking good too, I suspect that the others will too, but for the moment, the two females (forgot the mom's name, is it Marge) and Bart's head still looks ridiculous.
  23. I dont know if I like it or not. Minifigs are still a bit debatable. But dear lord I want that house! I need to get into the Simpsons more to compromise a buy like this though, part of me will say "the shows a classic, buy the set", the other side would nag "how would you know, you barely watch it". Ugh it sucks having 2 Freddy's on your shoulder. But I say Nay! Me want set!
  24. autorazr: I think I see your point, though I recognized the design from the 2007 Justice League show (though that year may be off a bit).
  25. T-6 Jedi Shuttle from 2011 usually sells online for about 30 (euros or dollars) when it's retail was around double that price. I look forward to buying that set, since I recently found a Barnes and Noble that miraculously still carried it's counterpart, the Bounty Hunter Assault Gunship. They're never going to remake it? That's sure going to make a lot of original trilogy fans that get into Lego this year or the next, very mad. Glad I got it at the last minute as a Christmas gift, I don't know how I would have handled without Oola in my collection.
