  1. Kai, see if you like it better now. I know it is not ideal, but I think its better. Maybe I will come up with an ascii pattern for the line breaks in the future.
  2. Funny thing, I had 3 of those sets and never built it once. I didn't realize that was a modified gate! What you added looks good though.
  3. Never mind my last question... apparently you just have to sign in to get the BB code. In a few minutes the third post of this thread will be updated with our sigfig roster. I have not gone back more than 5 pages to look for people's sigfig. If you posted it already in this thread and don't see yours on the page, please either post again or post a link to that post so that I can retrieve it. Lord Butters, for some reason I could not get the link of your flickr page, so that is why yours is not up there. If you want to post a static link, that should work too.
  4. I like the first shot's perspective. The gate does fit into the rocks well. I am not so keen on the tree, but I think it is cool to have the growth coming out. The design of the gate is simple but attractive. My concern lays with the windows at ground level, since that would not be very defensive! All in all, I think it looks like it would be an awesome playset, and it is very much in the spirit of Lego official sets.
  5. I think because some of the walls are on the edge of the escarpment their height wouldn't matter, but the walls to the south seem to need to be a bit higher, IMHO. Although, I think 12 may have been chosen to allow those with smaller collections the ability to create compatible walls too.
  6. As LV has said, Varylrio is mostly an NPC (nonplayer character) guild used for plot purposes. Perhaps the hardest thing would be finding a guild leader to run the guild. Also, I don't know if we really have the builder population to have another full guild. A lot of us had petitioned to open Varlyrio during the first book, but I think it was decided that in the end, there was not enough interest or enough leadership to do so. Varylrio is not off the table, I just don't see it becoming "joinable" during this phase of GoH.
  7. +1 for both claims. It is great to see more cultures added to the South. This arch is really unique, and very cool!
  8. When I wrote that, Kayne came to mind, but I didn't know why. Now I do, man we really need a major database to tackle this whole GOH project.
  9. I did link it to our main thread... but I think it is at the bottom. Also, I have the end of Resurrecting the Dead coming up (I am not really happy with this), and I am building the Battle for Eastgate in chunks so that it will be entered as multiple builds (Although I am not sure if guild leaders count in free build total, I don't see why not though) ---- Good to have another neighbor on the inland sea. BTW, anyone know who Starbowl belongs to?
  10. Kai, I guess this makes you the statistics professor at the university. About DaMax, I am not sure what happened. I am his Facebook friend and he is still alive at least! If I remember correctly, he is still in school and just found a significant other, so I am guessing his time is spread thin!
  11. Or, you may have to use control C for copy and Control V for paste, sometimes different programs will not let you right click.
  12. TUB: If you are on Windows 7 or lower, just look for it under accessories I believe (Sorry, I moved to Windows 8 -- unfortunately). If you are on 8, use the search for paint. Right click the map in your browser, click copy image, then paste it into paint. You will be able to edit from there. As Kai said, you don't have to build there, but it would be good. (:: ducks:: because I have built about every other place except my own town. That is going to change with the Battle of Eastgate coming soon)
  13. The Winners were: Category 1: Gideon Category 2: Gabe Category 3: Emma Winners, please PM me your addresses so that we can get the prizes out.
  14. I think in the beginning we named a bunch of the towns without having anyone in them, could some of those still be left over? If so, I say keep the names. I couldn't even find Belt Mutanji on the map. The map does make me a little depressed, thinking of all those members that came and went. Even some of the ones we have added in the last 6 months have seemed to vanish.
  15. Another reason there are not fiefdoms is because most of the surrounding land is sand and inhospitable. Although you could have a town/city with a series of hamlets around it at different oases. The town could be the main governmental structure. (That is how I see Eastgate, although the terrain there is different than the rest of Kaliphlin.) Should we locate Lost Vega (or at least where we tell the Avalonian Tourists where it is located?)
  16. I kind of feel that Avalonia was the guild of book 1, at least until the last challenge or so. Not that I don't think Kali is the best guild, but Avalonia seemed to produce the most and have the most members. You could say they were the "it" crowd. I guess that is Mitgardia today, but here in Kaliphlin we don't need to be trendy, we are simply the greatest. ---- Good to have you back NM. I am going to PM you about a special edition to the map -- (Teaser for the rest of you!)
  17. Of course, they don't even really have to be the same race, but some similarities would probably be good. Agreed with the helmets, I also wish Chima were not marked up like they were licensed or something... Um, brilliant? I see another name change, and this one doesn't have MK initials.... Quit confusing us all!
  18. I know!!! ITs ridiculous. I found two of the new Hobbit Polybags for 6 bucks each. I bought them because I knew I would never find them again... We can do that. Let's say on Feb 1st, everyone post their updated fig. It will make that starting post long though.
  19. I was thinking about entering, then I saw these two teams. High level competition here! Ok, maybe I will still enter, I can do a 700 piece set -- who is left without a partner?
  20. The mapmaker has to resurface and create a new edition (he has surfaced lately, and I believe he said that he is going to eventually work on a new map.) The map is actually about two years old, and does need a few updates. The best answer I have is, patience :)
  21. Or we could just use the Wiki, where a lot of this information is already. for example in Kaliphlin: http://guildsofhistorica.wikia.com/wiki/Kaliphlin I think I just channeled my inner DaMaximus.
  22. Hello All, Winners have been announced. See the bottom of this thread. The First Challenge: Since the cards have so many meanings, one can interpret any combination of cards in different ways. Your job is to depict a scene in Kaliphlin that reflects three of these cards as if the character in your scene had just had his/her fortune read. You can either randomly roll the cards with some dice at home, or you can pick the three you would like to influence your MOC. Traditionally, the reader would pull three cards representing the client they are reading, the first card picked is a characteristic or past related trait of the client. The second card is a present characteristic or a immediate future of the client, and the third card represents a long term or permanent future. Three Princesses is often thought of as very good luck, while three wizards are surely a bad omen. There are many variations of the readings in Kaliphlin, but you will need to use at least three cards and let us know what they are when you present your build. To clarify, you don't need to illustrate a character having their fortune read, just a scene in Kaliphlin representing the three cards. The character does not have to be your sigfig. These builds should be no larger than 32x32 Contestants: Gideon I Guess he wins this one, unless I am missing an entry? The Second Challenge: I was too busy to illustrate the deck myself, but you can call dibs on one of the cards listed above, and make your rendition of the scene that should be on the front of the card. A card can be claimed by up to three individuals, but only one can be from outside Kaliphlin. (IE: DaMaxiums, Gideon, and Captain Beerbeard could all claim Death as the first two are in Kaliphlin, and CBB is in Nocty, but if only DM from Kaliphlin signed up for Death, nobody except CBB could claim Death also ) These builds should be no larger than 10x10 Contestants: Masa Gabe Gideon (Not Eligible, as he won the first category) Category Three: Non-Kaliphlin best entry Contestants: Emma Wedge09 POST POLL RESULTS: AND THE WINNERS ARE: Gideon, Gabe and Emma.
  23. Kai, quit throwing stuff I said back in my face! I still have to put up the voting thread for the last contest. We had so few entries, I think almost everyone will win one of the prizes though. Eryn, you can definitely run point if you have the time. I think what you have come up with is perfect. In Kaliphlin fashion, we should probably not claim something, as I am sure there would be multiple rivals in the town building the same kind of building. (So we have 14 camel day care centers, we also have the best Camel Day Care prices in all the land!) I don't know what happened to DM, but I am willing to bet it has to do with the new GF, since that was one of the last post he made. hahaha. I don't think he would mind you running point on this.
  24. Great to hear about the new addition, but I am really sorry to hear about the job. I hope something comes up soon for you.
  25. +1 For awesomeness. I was hoping you would have an entry. Looks really good, I love the entry way. the way you finished off the dome was excellent too.
