  1. That's pretty hard when the owner of the Mitgardian whaling fleet lost his boats on the tables of Lost Vega! If it is boat related, you may not want to give up on them so soon... we may need any vessels we can get.
  2. At this point in the game, everything has been written about -- you have to know how to put spin on an old subject to survive. haha.
  3. That was definitely modifying my quote (grammatically correct though) to fit your agenda rather than addressing what I had actually stated! But, yes very nicely done. We have plenty of wood in the Wither Woods, Eastgate is a large supplier of live oak to rest of Kaliphlin -- besides those Avalonians have plenty of wood to trade for!!! The beer would be a loss though. But We can solve the shivering problem you all are having with our new drive to save Mitgardia.
  4. Kaliphlinites, lend me your ears! The winter in Mitgardia has been terrible! It has been so cold that they have hallucinated Kaliphlin privateers in their ports! I fear that not enough of our heating oil has made it to our northern brothers and sisters. We must lower prices (slightly) and get the flow going. A long term solution could be a pipeline that runs to Mitgardia, but for this winter we have to do our best the old fashioned way. We must increase delivery. There have been reports that some Mitgardians are shivering so much that they have broken their own armor! Indeed, Mitgardian children are finding little shelter within the beards of their mothers on these abnormally cold nights. We must think of the children! The Challenge: By February 28th (anywhere in the world) post a MOC of Kaliphlinites providing Mitgardians with heating oil. It can be my sea, by sled, by giant eagle, just get them some oil! The MOC can be of any size, and does not have to include your sig fig. The only requirement is that it depicts a Kaliphlinite delivering oil to a poor, cold Mitgardian. The winner of this mini-challenge will earn the title "Heating Oil Czar of Kaliphlin." We will let all Kaliphlinites vote for the winner. Everyone who participates in this humanitarian effort will be considered part of the Order of the External Flame, Kaliphlin's humanitarian agency in Mitgardia . Brothers and sisters, with our good fortunes, we can not sit by while other Historicans suffer, get those barrels moving!
  5. I didn't know 98% of Mitgardia was Kaliphlin ex-pats, I guess we overfilled the deserts and own the north too now.
  6. To slander, what one says must be untrue. It is a known fact that Mitgardians hide their cuddly, often confused, perpetually freezing selves behind their rough exteriors.
  7. That is not what our ledgers say, coin never lies my friend. We have been getting rich off of many generations of shivering Mitgardians.
  8. Classic Mitgardian hyperbole -- taking my quote out of context. I guess we could always cut off the supply of heating oil.
  9. Just with the latest challenge, I am sure there will be some sort of handicap given to a side that has less participants.
  10. I was being rhetorical -- BL is the best bulk solution, but the price is ridiculous in my opinion. It is fine if you are buying a few, but if you really want to put together an army, its too much.
  11. I see what you are saying Masa. I think the gate was the challenge portion -- in order to get more entries to win the prize. But like you said, this will turn out kind of like challenge 6 where there were 20 good endings, and only one counted. I don't think this is as extreme, but still kind of the same. Other gates that might be in the city: gate to the center of the city, or keep; gates to the east or west, there are sure to be tribes that live in those directions, maybe not major gates, but gates none-the-less. As for free builds, there is the general competition between the guilds that it provides. The winner at the end does have consequences -- although these are still unknown to the general public.
  12. I will still give you the +1 all across the board. It looks good. I do think the tan building fits in our lovely guild though. But, of course, it could be a ex-pat of Kaliphlin.
  13. I am behind on grading, but I am going to get over and comment on both - especially on that floor of the boat, Kai. You all make Kaliphlin proud! The other guilds can complain (falsely) about us being all talk, but when builds go up from Kaliphlin, they are usually terrific. These two are no exception.
  14. +1 for both. Great job!
  15. Congratulations. I am envious of European work rules sometimes.
  16. I posted two ships. One in my embassy and one for the Battle of Khordeem (i can't remember how to spell it). Also, the good guys would have taken two at Queenscross (although only one was a MOC). I have been itching to create a few ships, I just don't have a lot of time to build. I do have over 70 hulls to lay foundations on. (Let's just say there was a point in my life where I was addicted to Ebay and Evil Stevies Pirate game.) Story-wise, which is what I was referring to in my post, Kaliphlin has four major trade companies with their own fleets, and just about every noble in Kaliphlin seems to have two or three ships. Now if we were talking bobsled teams or dog sleds, Mitgardia would have us beat. Hmmm... But.... It could be interesting to have a guild v. guild challenge to build a merchant marine and navy.
  17. Masa is right, we would come by sea since Kaliphlin has the largest fleet(s). Also, we trade enough in Mitgardia to know to where a coat when our Helitropes aren't available.
  18. I am going to jump in and say this before Z does, but you are choosing the wrong guilds!!! Haha. If you want to be a member in a faceless horde, go Mitgardia. If you want to wear tights, go Avalonia. If you want to hang out with monsters in the dark and some of the best builders in Historica, go to Nocturnus If you want to join a multicultural family seeped in intellectual prowess, one which has the most varied opportunity to building types (including areas that are similar to all four other guilds) then Kaliphlin is the guild for you. On a more serious note to your question, the real answer is join the guild you will have the most fun in. Even if your bricks are suited for Avalonia, you can still come up with builds in Nocturnus and vice versa. There is no hard rule that says you have to build a certain way. Besides, I am clearly an unbiased spectator here.
  19. Too bad you are not around here, I need a good tax accountant!I think the landscape idea is good -- There are so many unexplored regions of Nocturnus.
  20. I would invade Mitgardia and burn it to ashes to recover Kai if she joined your guild. (clearly she would have been under duress making such a choice) I am sure I would have the backing of all of Kaliphlin on that. She is too important to our guild.
  21. Well, that is just fantastic. I love the use of color and the atmosphere you have going. I liked what looks to be bricked in windows (maybe from a past siege?) on the walls. Or maybe they are not bricked in? They just look cool. I only wonder about the size of the gate itself, as it seems that large carts could not come through. Although, the way you built it, it looks like a larger portal was walled off for some purpose... so still really cool. You set the bar high, my friend.
  22. Dang... I just went through the unread posts from the beginning of December... You all talk too much. I have some belated things to say. Numbers of people joining is not proof. Everyone wants to defend the wall because they watched GoT or they bought the Hobbit / LOTR sets that look perfect in Mitgardia -- its kind of strange that bley has now become so Mitgardian instead of Avalonian. The point is, the current sets reflect stereotypical Mitgardia, and Nocty to a lesser extent, much better than stereotypical Avalonia or Kaliphlin. Well I am glad I never put in that BL order for those helmets, as I was going to use them for elves too... Wouldn't want the elves of the Wither woods looking like snow elves... But on a positive note, these may be the most badass elves I have ever seen.
  23. Sometimes I get cheared at when I stack. Although, I have learned that there is only so much patience the wife has for PaB, and I rarely stack now. haha.
  24. I should have caught that. Yeah I decided since Petera has become a bad guy, he was no longer my sigfig, and Dugal's moc is in the process. It is the Flickr WIP I posted the other day.
