Hello All. I just bought my first PF motor to power my Horizon Express, and after buying brand new batteries at the store put them into the train, put the engine on the tracks (to see if it worked before giving more weight to pull with the passenger cars) and now I'm disappointed because the motor seems to have a problem. I can't manage to get the engine to go very fast at all and then the motor just stops, like it will work for 2s and then stops. Has anyone else experienced this? Also, can someone explain what are the little black levers on the remote (8879) that are just above the four studs? Thanks you all in advance (and I apologise if this doesn't belong in the general train forum)

Anyone else notice the tiling seems to be black and white on the box but white and grey in the final product? But apart from that looks like a nice little set

I say European electric sleeper trains, sleeper cabin hasn't been done since the Santa Fe sets, and we could imagine a locomotive and two cars (one sleeper one restaurant) in the set

Wow, very cool. I also like the fact that is pretty much shows how an official lego museum modular could come to be, as it appears your creation fits the modular size and piece count. Very nice creation, and like the Egyptian theme!

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
mapimi replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
if you want you can download the LDD files, gives a good idea of how they look together and that way you can place them to your liking, that's what I did before I decided to order GE to go with my PR. There is a thread on Eurobricks with lots of sets made in LDD. Sadly my PR is currently on another continent than my GE so I can't take a picture of the two together, but I believe the closeness in color makes the two creations complimentary, and also that GE's wall makes a nice surface to cover the gap of the PR terrace. I intend to add greenery on the GE wall sort of like in the back of the PR, I believe it would make a nice effect -

Anyone else notice that as far as the modular series goes we've had 2 out of 3 buildings from the Town Plan? Maybe that could hint at a possible garage/car repair shot in the future? -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
mapimi replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Well lets not forget the Modulars seem to be based in the 1930s or so, as such a post office would make sense in the time period. Would be a great opportunity to get a couple yellow bicycles (Don't know if you have them in the US but in Europe it's common to see postmen use them. And I agree an old fashion car repair shop would be awesome, I can picture it, with a nice small vehicle, a car lift, and maybe a small living space in the second floor. I also picture a bank with lobby on the first floor and a vault and managers office on the second floor. -
Does the new passenger train have lights in the power car? From these videos it doesn't appear to be any...If anyone that has purchased it could tell me that would be nice :) Thanks in advance

How about an electric European cargo train? We've had the Emerald Night (Steam Passenger), the Maersk Train (Diesel Cargo), Horizon Express (Electric Passenger), but we've never really had an electric cargo locomotive in the expert series. Plus the advantage of some European Electric locomotives is you can see them on both Pax and Cargo trains, so it could be used to make fun train combinations. That or a return to American Diesel night passenger trains (sort of like the Santa Fe) or Steam would also be nice

Layout: Working Train Yard (Brickfair NH 2014)

haha, like the spilled oil container on the inside. This MOC is beautiful, congrats, :) Love the work you've put into it, the details are just amazing -
This is awesome! Congrats Love it! Look forward to seeing more of it

The only two modulars I own are GE and PR, so maybe I can help a bit on recommendation between the two. While PR is absolutely stunning, and a fun build, the fact I got GE after PR maybe helped make me fall in love with GE, as in comparison to PR it feels much more massive. Some have criticized GE for being a bit of a boring build as you essentially build the same floor twice, but the finished build makes it worth it, and I really enjoyed building it how some things you thought would be fragile just came together once finished and just don't budge, like the escalators for example. Now I rank both equally, but I think it would be a shame to miss out on GE, especially for GE's exterior detailing which is just stunning. And as mentioned by others, PR will be around for years to come (at least 2), so you can always purchase it in the future which will most certainly not be the case for GE.

NEW LDD Brickset out - 1392
mapimi replied to Lyichir's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Still hoping for http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?itemID=56668&colorID=1 to appear on LDD some day, very annoyingly missing from every update -
The Playmobil post office was awesome, and lego hasn't had one since the 80s, and I remember wanting the playmobil police station with the elevator and helipad when I was small, a friend of mine had it, remember I was so jealous ^^. My brother had the playmobil police car with working lights, that's something lego could work on, of course playmobils being at a larger scale, helps to add details like working lights and so on on vehicles.

Doubling up the Horizon Express - 5 Car Set
mapimi replied to woofmcmoose's topic in LEGO Train Tech
It's cool, looks good! The speed record holder TGVs tended to be 5 car sets, so you could claim yours is one of these models! Although four doors on the middle carriage means it isn't a TGV even if it looks nice due to symmetry. I have two HE but ordered parts off of PaB to add a jacobs bogie in the middle, and orange parts to extend the underside of carriages 2 and 3. But I think the 5 car set looks as good as the 6 one so it's a good compromise for those who don't have room for a 6 car one, might follow your lead as I barely have room for my HE. Thanks for the good idea :) -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Well remember the Simpsons house is at a different scale than the modulars, so you decide if you want to stay in the same scale or not. After I'm also hesitating between PS and PC as my next purchase, also owning GE and PR. I know PS is being retired soon, but I like my city to keep a more or less unified color scheme, which is why PC is actually tempting me more. It all depends on your use of your lego sets. If you are buying them to sit on a shelf and look nice, or creating a city than maybe sticking with the modulars is best. If you are okay with having a creation stand apart and are tempted by the Simpsons house than listen to your heart -
I seriously doubt it, the fact the carnival thing probably will be a standalone product doesn't mean we won't see a new modular early next year, PC and PR came out about a year a part, so I'm sure we'll see a new modular before long, the sun never sets on the modular line

Yes, it works now, thank you very much! I love the details on this MOC! Seems like an awesome place to grow up!

To be clear when you guys are mentioning Flickr do you need to have an account to see the pics? I can't appear to see any of them, but if they show what is in the video, then very nice build :)

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
mapimi replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Bank would be nice, it's after all a very vital building to any city, and the banks for late 19th century/early 20th century tend to be very nicely decorated with lots of interior and exterior details, and after a few businesses, it would be nice if our minifigs could get the money to buy stuff from these businesses ^^ -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
mapimi replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Do you guys remember how early we knew the next modular would be a restaurant long before the official presentation of PR? I remember reading about it during the summer of 2013, which is when I joined Eurobricks, but the rumors might have been out before. So based on previous modular releases, is there a possible timeline of when we might learn the name of the next modular? -
Light Rail system, motorized with battery box underneath
mapimi replied to BrickBuff's topic in LEGO Train Tech
That is indeed a needed design! The project on cuusoo however isn't published yet, but I'll be sure to support it when it is. If lego were to produce such a thing, it would mix the benefits of power function and 9V in terms of playability, and open up for more train designs! -

Got myself GE with the double VIP offer, as a European in Canada for a year it means 199 VIP points x2, but for still less than the retail price in Euros (in terms of currency exchange), and for 50x2 VIP points more. Pretty excited, should arrive Monday! Will be my second modular after PR
