I'm on the edge about this one, how do you guys feel about it? Every review I've read has found that it fits perfectly with other modulars yet every picture I see of it attached to other modulars makes it seem out of place. I feel like this could be solved by adding a second-second floor, but not excited enough by the set to get two. Has anyone who had reservations at first come back on their opinion about the set once having built it? Thanks in advance guys

Dying and making new sets that aren't special and are overpriced is two different things. Is lego dying? Hell no, the lego movie has made it one of the most valuable brands in the toy business, and in that regards it isn't going anywhere. Now sets that aren't really special and overpriced is a matter of opinion. I think reviewers often feel that certain product lines are getting repetitive (looking at you City) where every product feels like a recycling of the previous one. And in that matter they might be correct. But since the products are being sold, lego will continue to release police and firemen sets. But other lines are becoming very original, I mean if you look at the latest Slave I set I don't think one can doubt that this set is special. But maybe that's the biggest difference between today sets and sets from 20 years ago: the price range has been turned upside down with new categories of product going above 150$ while the entry line category at 10-15$ where we used to be able to get great sets has almost disappeared.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Thanks for the update. So that will leave only 3 modulars in production? Been a while... -
so excited! This set is going to be awesome! Hope they make enough, might be complicated to go to the lego store on day 1...

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

My lego store today only had PS left of all the modulars, saw the last DO leave the shelf, no series 13 of the minifigs, and is only expecting a shipment on the 9th of January, no idea what they are going to sell in the meantime. Was hoping to pick up PC...a bit frustrated, second time in a row I go to my lego store and that they seem to be out of anything interesting.... -
Thank you for the review, it was very interesting and changed my opinion of the set, I'm now considering a future purchase ^^. Just one question: The mirror is on cardboard? I was hoping for it to be a window piece with a mirror on one side.. I hope it's not the same cardboard we had on some of the early Harry Potter sets or the element won't last long

Hello all I'd like to introduce you guys to my latest MOC. As you guys might know, I'm really into airplanes, and my MOCs are mostly just that. For 15 years now I've been running my lego airline: Nova Airlines, which today has a fleet of a bit over 30 aircrafts. Recently Airbus announced the A320NEO, their newest generation single aisle aircraft. So here's my take on this aircraft. In my configuration it can seat 6 minifigs and a pilot (1 business-5 economy seats) but in lego low-cost configuration (3 studs for a seat), it can go up to 9 passengers. I'm also proud of my retractable landing gear system, which improves playability Hope you guys enjoy! see it at my brickshelf page: http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=550428

very impressive! Congrats, hope you had a fun time at the show

as others have said: Buy it! The PR is perhaps the best lego set I currently own. Can't recommend it enough! And I think it does have advantages for filming inside that other modulars do not have, especially the opening roof section

Wow, what an impressive and beautiful building! Congrats :)

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
mapimi replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I don't have FB, however PS or PC is probably the available choices I'd recommend, PS probably goes with everything, and PC might go well with FB as it is also an American inspired building. However I think modulars sort of go well no matter the design, get one you like, it should probably look great next to your FB. -

Blame LDD ^^ but seriously, the image on the edge which shows the back can't be tan, it's not that yellow -

So it's not cool yellow? https://www.flickr.c...04/15620109787/ Here's a comparison between cool yellow and tan (brick yellow), I do believe it is the first one PS: cool yellow in not bright yellow which is classic lego yellow (minifig heads,...) -

I believe it's the light yellow found in the friends line -

Is there no access for minifigures to get onto the balconies? Also hope there are stairs (which I can't seem to spot in the low res images of the open up photos on the edge of the box), if not this will take away much of the realism of the modular series, a big no no for me if its the case, I guess we'll learn more when lego releases the official announcement with higher res images -

It also looks like a departure from the love story we've gotten in the modulars: PC: first date PR: proposal GE: Suit and dress choice for upcoming marriage TH: Wedding PS: New apartment to start a family DO: wife has run away and husband hires a private detective to find her? -

Architecturally its more simple than the others, not sure how I feel about that, definitively a change in the era for modulars, but I hope this is compensated for killer details inside! We will learn more upon the official release, but looks like a good set :) -

Thanks for sharing that, sounds like we are being treated to three different businesses in one set, that's pretty sweet :) -

Went to my lego store today, don't know if they are making room for christmas demand, but last time I went they had more choice. TH was not where to be seen when they had 5 copies on the shelves a few weeks ago, and they were all out of Series 12 minifigs. Interestingly enough however they had a few copies of the Winter Village market along with Santa's workshop. I fear TH is gone. For those fearing the disappearance of PS, they still had copies and the seller told me it should be around for a while longer, not that it means much. -
Alright, thank you everyone for your answers, I guess it does loose a bit of clutch power, but still need those for an MOC...my only hope of finding some more is through bricklink and hope for the best in terms of their condition Happy building to all

Hi everyone I was just curious if anyone knew the reasons for lego discontinuing the classic hinge system and replacing it with a new system which is, in my opinion, less versatile and useful than the older one. To be clear I am mostly talking about these parts and similar parts: http://rebrickable.com/parts/4275b http://rebrickable.com/parts/4625 My reason for liking these better than the replacement parts are that the older ones allowed bricks to be placed over the whole system, meaning you didn't have to leave a gap for example when used for aircraft flaps, where the new ones needs a minimum of one stud clearance above and under which makes MOC builds less beautiful I'm thinking of these as the replacements: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=44822 (and similar) What do you guys think? Do you also prefer the old system? Or do you have examples where the newer system was more useful than the old one?
