Oh huh, would have never guessed that the LOSS's legs were made up of technic. I hope that means a function as the rest of the sets imply.

Man, those hands though. He had a real knack for drawing those in that stupid scene-breaking "literally a LEGO piece" style.

Little late for the voice actor/actress discussion, but my ideal selection, especially since character gender hasn't been stated yet, though it could be assumed(*Crosses fingers*), but I'm posting what I want to see anyway and actually deciding was HARD WORK MAN: Onua: Estelle -- ala Garnet of Steven Universe, her voice is GREAT for quiet, but powerful and wise characters. Lewa: Jake T. Austin -- I liked his voice in Khumba, young but not "modern main protagonist", can be both light hearted and serious. Tahu: Sumalee Montano -- Really gets that "firey and angry" voice down well. Kopaka: Steve Blum -- ala Heatwave of Rescue Bots, also angry but with that gruff loner edge Gali: Nicole Oliver -- A slightly toned down version of her "Princess Celestia" would work perfect, less "God-Princess" and more "Heroic-Caretaker". Pohatu: Khary Payton -- Booyah! His "Cyborg" is a pretty good fit for Pohatu, often silly and immature but also can be the heart of the team. Lord of the Skull Spiders: Alec Willows -- He's already voiced an evil giant spider that controls a bunch of little ones: Tarantulas, and that voice would make for a pretty great starter villain voice. Defenders: ??? -- Don't have a feel for them as characters so I'm going to skip this. And the most important part: Susan Blu as voice director. You can have a thousand golden voices and it can all fall apart without a good voice director, and Susan Blu has yet to let me down.

I am honestly shocked that LEGO hasn't tried making a voxel style game ala Minecraft. Given their clout they could easily outcompete Minecraft in both marketing and game design, though I suppose the latter isn't too hard. =P I suppose there is something to be said for not stepping on the toes of your business partners, though I couldn't feel too bad if they did.

I mean, that was the main reason, but I interpreted that as also being fat. A lot of people did, or at least joked about it. I thought it was cool at the time. Still do!

Pohatu! He's cool and laid back and fat and can kick boulders, just like me!

Favorite Bionicle (or any constraction figure) Titan?
CabooseBM replied to TheGreatSpirit's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Fire Lord was a creative inspiration. A challenge. "You can't use the CCBS to make titans!" They said! And to that I replied, "I'll show you! I'll show ALL OF YOU." I never got around to posting the results. I still don't have enough extra black and gunmetal pieces. It is an all-consuming project. None of the other titans have quite given that to me, although I have completed a revamped Witch Doctor since then. -

Pohatu's 2008 design was great! He's has always been the odd man out on the team. Giving him ridiculous propeller arms isn't the obvious route, but I feel it fits the spirit of the character design. Far more than "Bazooka-Bayonet" Kopaka and "I'm Cloud Strife Now" Lewa.

I want new shells, but only because I'd love some more options. Some more "wide" shells like the paw piece and that other paw piece especially, or add ons in a similar vein,

Besides, if it changes nothing about the characters, but gives more kids heroes to look up to, I can't say I see a single downside to this. And that goes for both boys and girls, boys could use more heroes to look up to who are woman too. It's only weird to people who see gender as a this big huge thing to change(despite arguing it isn't) and folks who hold on to G1 as if it were handed down on stone tablets from a burning bush named Greg Farshtree. And don't get me wrong, I would absolutely love a team of new characters with a 1:1 ratio, but it seems we're dealing with the Toa Mata for 2015, so that's who we'd talk about right now. If it IS a continuation, and I highly doubt it is, then yeah, I'd see the point, but only because treating a gender change so flippantly(In the absence of a good in-story explanation ie: NOT Arcee from IDW) is kinda disrespectful to transgender folks, (Well, kinda, maybe. Disclaimer here to say I'm not getting all truscum all up in this, if you don't know what that means then don't worry about it it's probably not for you.)

I do see what you're saying, Onua's exxagerated shoulders and hunched over design are traits often exclusive to male characters, but I feel that's more a product of the Law of Disparate Stylization(Male characters can look all sorts of crazy but female characters are stuck with "realistic" proportions) than anything else, so I do my part, small as it is, to work against that. Onua is a squat, purpose-built digging machine, and her gender ain't changing that. =) Thank you for the compliment! I really appreciate that, actually, how 'organic' it is. A big part of that is how nice and easy she is to pose. I guess that's LEGO parts quality for you! As for Lewa, weeeeellll, the rub there is that parts in medium green are hard to come by nowadays, especially now that Superheroes sets go for stupid expensive on Bricklink. I definitely agree, but it's not totally within my power, I'm afraid. =/ Yeah, the thumb is useful for emoting and grasping and whatnot. =V

You can keep repeating it but that does not make your opinion fact.

Man, if you didn't like the changes to Onua, you're gonna FLIP when I get to Tahu! =V I'm glad you folks like the build, anyway.

As a huge transformers fan, I would be absolutely fine if Optimus Prime were a woman. But that's besides the point, which is, why is gender above all else a sticking point? I don't get why it's a big deal, I mean, unless you really cared about a character's voice actor/actress, which I kind of really doubt. It's no bigger a change than from Mata to Nuva or Nuva to Mistika. Like, what do you think comes with gender that would make it a big change? Now I could see it being a problem if as a continuation Tahu switched genders "just because" with no retconning and lots of handwaving, because that kinda trivializes the sort of stuff transgender folks go through, but I really, REALLY doubt that will ever be the case. (It would be acceptable if, during the peacetime Tahu was able to look at herself critically and make that change before the new story took place, I could totally get behind that, but unfortunately I also think that will never happen.)

Click the Above Picture for the full gallery! Onua is the wise Toa of Earth, while all the Toa Mata are the same age, she acts as an older sister and mentor to the other five. She is quiet, but beneath that is a mind that is always at work, when she does speak, everyone would do well to listen. Onua is kind and understanding, and while Pohatu is the heart of the Toa Mata, she is the mediator, she mends feuds and resolves arguments between the six toa. She is very protective of her Matoran, and will sometimes go to unreasonable lengths to not inconvenience them! Onua possesses great strength and durability, built to work underground in the most punishing of conditions. She can control the living dirt and plantlife directly, bending them to her will with ease. Her Toa Tools are directly integrated into her hands, great claws that can dig through anything that stands in her way! (The moc here represents Onua as she appears in the Bionicle: Rebuild universe, hence her gender and any changes from βcanonβ.)

The only ship worth sailing is obviously Pohatu and Kopaka. =P

I used to think that too, that the Toa Mata shouldn't be changed, but at some point I realized that they're going to get design changes anyway, and I really wasn't too attached to their current genders. This isn't really meant to be an argument, but given that the Toa Mata will get new designs anyway, why do you hold their genders to be more important for new iterations? What about say, Tahu being a woman would really change about her, all else being equal? Would that really ruin the nostalgia more than a new design? Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to accuse anyone of anything or start a fight, but I think it's worth asking ourselves these questions and exploring why we have that sticking point. EDIT: You know, apparently Thor is a woman in some new Marvel comic, anyone more knowledgeable in Marvel stuff want to expand on that? I think it's rather applicable to what we're talking about here.

I think that the "rule" is silly and would like to see it gone, but that's not the real problem, I don't think, since LEGO didn't improve after they lifted that rule in the Glatorian and Hero Factory. This is a problem LEGO has had for a while and will continue to have for a while longer, I'm afraid. I hope that with Friends and the next LEGO Movie explicitly stated to "include more female characters" that we'll see a paradigm shift back towards LEGO being a unisex toy, taking Bionicle with it. Ideally all toys would be considered "unisex". One day we can have a tea party with Tahu and Claire and then go fight the Rock Lords, and that day will be great.

To be fair, old time Transformers fans thought the same of Beast Wars when it came out, and that show single-handedly saved the brand. (And is also fantastic, but besides the point.)
