I will concede that it was nice of Greg to give us a final answer on the whole hidden Great Being thing. Even if I don't like it.

The best I can tell you is to watch an episode of it, but MLP Friendship is Magic is a slice-of-life character-driven series that excelled at writing trope-subversive plots not just for the girl cartoon arena, but in the wider arena of cartoons. FiM's real strength comes from the diversity and depth of it's main cast and supporting characters. That along with witty dialogue, intelligent writing, and an ability to present life lessons that not only apply to everyone, but aren't usually obtrusive to the story. Exactly what I was saying! Thanks. =D Hard mode: it cannot use any Throwbot or Roborider pieces, you lose out on the original y-shaped ball sockets.

Regardless, this topic isn't about Hero Factory, it's about Bionicle and it's somewhat terrible retcon based on a retcon. @Makuta Nocturn, do me a favour and read my posts, okay? Because I was a big fan of Bionicle and to an extent I still am. I can be a big fan of something and have bad things to say about it. I dunno what to tell you, that's not why I like Hero Factory? Have fun getting mad for completely made up reasons. Funny you should say that, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic IS written better than Bionicle, for one thing. Hahaha, "real" fans.

Yeah, you know what? Leave your condescension at home if you intend to make an argument, you just end up sounding like a jerk and I won't be taking you seriously. Yeah, no. (For the record I do apologize for the last line of my first post in this topic, that was out of spite. Hero Factory is still better though.)

It's not even that I'm against keeping it going, after the story ended in 2010 we had a great opportunity to tell a few stories on the new Spherus Magna, but it's been bungled so badly that I'd rather just see it end entirely at this point. This piece of news is just an example of the problem.

What a completely useless and stupid story revelation. Can we please stop shoving retcons down Bionicle's lifeless throat? It's dead, over, and we don't need to riddle it with retcons and sloppy writing in a vain attempt to keep it going. Just leave it alone, please. Small wonder I prefer Hero Factory over this tripe.

...You make a convincing argument.

I dunno, if the theme ends next year, I'd rather stick with the old heroes.

On a practical and aesthetic level, this MoC is awesome, I love wheel-feet and I love how they're accomplished simply but effectively in this MoC. The techniques used in the arms and the legs in conjunction with the HF bones is pretty interesting and I'll have to look into that for my own MoCs. The torso is kind of underwhelming, being brick-built, but it does the job. The bike mode is a cute reference, I'd like to see some robot mode poses with the wheel accessory as a disk launcher or something like that. Now on a conceptual level I can't say I like this MoC very much, taking away the uniquely awesome, yet unorthodox bike-based design of the Robo Riders and making Dust a humanoid scorpion just doesn't gel with me. Feel free to take this part of my criticism with a grain of salt, it's driven by personal bias for the most part.

That's really impressive, shame it can't support it's own weight in either mode.

It's kinda weird that XT4 is a cyborg, he's the most robotic looking robot character in the show. And where does that leave Toxic Reapa and his eggs?

I like the idea of a Speeda Demon contest, but I think it's still too early to hold an official one. Not enough people have one. I'm a big fan of the "revamp a character" theme though, that's something we won't have to wait for.

If we do get a female villain, it should be an "old lady" character with an exo-suit, kinda like if Dr. Wily were a woman. I mean first of all, exo-suits are awesome, and subverting expectations is even better.

And it better be brushable, damn it!
-
That's not concept art, it's just him playing around with the designs.
-
I would not object to new voices for Breez and Surge though. Especially Surge.

Good review of a great set! I'm glad to see LEGO's attempt to branch away from the FL build was successful, if a little flawed. Can't wait to see him on shelves over here in the states! I wonder if you've ever actually seen a fat person before. Fat people don't have V-shaped torsos.

Yeah, video reviews, at least in this fandom, tend to be terrible and un-entertaining. Because if you're not entertaining, you might as well just do a picture review. I mean I'm halfway through this XT4 review and we haven't even looked at the figure yet!

Hero Factory all the way, baby!
-
Well I like it a lot. Matches your idea for the character perfectly. Well okay, the legs are rather skinny and could use some real bulking up, but aside from that it works perfectly.
-
Bionicle is way better than Galidor, but Hero Factory reigns supreme.
-
I fail to see the issue with Humans in Hero Factory. Like, at all. They're already there, even. Heck, I'd like to see them working in the Hero Factory, that'd be fantastic. It wouldn't make sense in Bionicle, sure, but this isn't Bionicle. It's better.
-
Sounds good to me, can't wait.

Furno has what I'd call a "standard" back for me(Breez uses it too.), but I try to avoid a one-size fits all approach, as you can tell with Surge. You guys really ought to use those shoulder balljoints when you can, they're pretty useful!

I'm going to need to get XT4 immediately after he comes out with that new torso bone, same goes for Stormer and his new piece.
