Lego Hydraulics
Zerobricks replied to grindinggears's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I've been followng theis thread a while now and it seems most of you are forgetting, hydraulics also requires return tubes, which current pneumatic doesnt have. When you open the valve in lego pneumatics, you also relase air from that valve (you can hear air hissing), and if you would fill the system with liquid it would simplay exit valve there resulting in a mess. The pumps would also have to be submerged in liquid. I have my doubts you can manage to do it with original parts. -

Lets start by seeing your computer specs... I see you use Vista starter? I'm not sure, if the starter has all the 'stuff' needed? -
One question. Do springs, LA's and pneeumatics work (slide in and out)?

I think the first gear will suffice for most terrain. Will you fix the axle bending? -

Yes it may cause. If you wind the motor faster tahn it was made for and also if you generate more current than what the coils in the rotor were made for. I use to play with a 9V geared motor this way AND IT BROKE. -

I am worryed about your 12 tooth thin bewel gears. They are quite weak, and may break in the front axle. Also the front hub looks easy to pull apart, sorry. -

1:21 gear ratio from Xl motor or RC? -
I wanted to try something different and here is the result. Each of the four mole/mouse/weasel heads has a slightly different gear ratio to randomize the game to some content. The mchanisem usey pulley wheels with pins atatched in order to spring and relase the springs. Using the LiPo battery the game speed can be regulated. The pins can be added or removed to further affect the game: The gear ratios are set up so the heads dont pop up periodically in relation with each other. The heads were a bit challeging to build, as they had to survive the rage of the rubber hammer and look like something. With enough interest I will create instructions. A short video:

Or wait for the new part from 8070, which would make portal hubs even more compact. -

Unimog suspension anyone? This way the suspension can be made narrower, because cardans are too wide. Makes ence, if front axle uses a 7L steering rack, the only way for rear axle to be same width is to make suspension narrower with this part! Also explains 4 CV's and the u joints are proboably for steering wheel. -

Functions work faster than expected! I also wonder why there are 2 extra CV joints...
