8043 vs 8294 vs 42006
Zerobricks replied to mobi's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
8043 wins is asthetics, functionality, RC factor, usefull parts and fun. Simply 8043 EPIC WIN compared to other 2. P.S. without PF 8043 is still better, with more gears. -
So here's the coaxial version test. It floats on arround 15 volts, but any more power to the motors and theit internal thermal fuses kick in and the whol things stops. I have no idea, why this thing is just so unstable, but those few seconds of floating prove the concept for me. I think this technology will be usefull in hovercraft design.

RC servo broken?
Zerobricks replied to clarkdef's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thats normal, sorry. -
I tried 2 4-bladed rotors from a single motor, but the problem comes when trying to reverse one rotor. It requires a combination like 3x8 tooth gears, which is very inefficient. This is why i rather chose 2x Rc motors. Also one motor/rotor allows me compensate for different drag ratios. I am gonna try the double motor-rotor design at school tommorow where there's an adjustable voltage supply.

The first time i ran them in video the betteries were not full, you can see that when I try to switch off and they work against each other the rotor still spins slowly, menaing one battery box is not as full as another. After few seconds the motor slows down a bit, due to thermal protection, but even when wired directly to batteries there seems to be no damage, but some heat. I think that running RC motors like they were meant in the car, reversing power when full, ETC is harder for them than running constantly as here.
