  1. Alasdair, I think the poster made a fair attempt at a Auger attachment
  2. seriously cheap Unimogs, this weekend only at argos, £15 off and then buy 2 get 1 free = £96 a MOG
  3. Personally I'd rather see Lego spend time and effort on designing the next modular building, it's almost impossible to claim a lego set is a first edition, as the bricks can be taken apart, split up, etc. It's not like a book where the pages and the cover is stuck on. those that want this set, get your money out on Ebay/bricklink! It's a thumbs down from me
  4. I hate to be the one to tell you this, but it looks more like the wires have been pulled whilst the connector was attached to something and the wires have stretched, the plastic covering would not stretch at the same rate as the cables and this has exposed the wires, I don't think the plastic has peeled off. I've never tried but you could try and split the plastic connector in half, horizonally, I think it has a join? although it was likely glued together, you have nothing to loose, alternatively some electrical tape wrapped around each half of the cable should prevent it shorting out, but I think it's days are numbered! 5. Time to add some pictures to this thread I don't think 2005 as a year can be singled out, if anything 2009 in my opinion was the special year for city sets. I actually don't have anything against the designs, I think in most cases the theme for the model is spot on and needed in our towns, the issue I have, and it would be great to have this explained, is why the designers insist on using such a stupid scale? especially when it is branded as City, city means it should fit in a City, some of these sets are on the scale of Model Team (minus the details) Here are some examples, most of which I own! ahhh Lets start in 2005 A tad over sized for most harbours Great, a new crane at last, but why so big? Look at the size of that thing! Moving onto 2006, can this be a better year? In scale terms, this bridge is far to big to be on a Truck 2007 Again, nice idea a hovercraft, but why so big? This was actually a nice looking truck, just the scale was too big for our cities ahhh, 2008, now this set a new standard, The RIB was quite nice 2009 Actually this was a nicely designed set, new latice pieces, just rather large A combine, what ever farm needs, but this one can harvest the wheat in half the time again, a good set, but far too big for lego city love this one, if they had only made it 6 studs wide, the compaction plate accessory is great 2010 Really? 2011 I actually love the design of the tractor unit, the boat is good too, it just looks wrong on the flatbed I've missed a few more of these oversized police and fire boats, but put this one from this year in the mix Anyone an idea on the scale logic? Paul
  6. that explains it then, it was on a table next to the new mini modulars :-)
  7. Sorry to start another topic, I know there was a topic about a new brick separator some time ago and I'm sure it was in the technic forum, so if someone can find it, maybe they can merge the topics, but I remember seeing some sketches of what people would like for a technic brick separator, at the GWLS today, I spotted this on a table, I hoped to speak with the guy behind the table, but he was busy, anyway, snapped a grainy picture, it was like the old brick separator, but I'd say more flimsey, but it had a one stud axle molded to the top for poping pins out of technic bricks Here is a pic,
  8. Sorry if these pics are a little big and a little blur :-( I managed to half the size of them, but can't do any better without loosing half the picture? anyway, I'm sure someone with the skills can fix them :-) Pics from the GWLS
  9. I'm sure this theme has been discussed many times before, and I have to agree, it really is a no brainer, kids love animals as well. I was more surprised to see Lego bringing back the Dino theme next year (maybe something to do with another Jurassic Park film) but from memory the last Dino theme from a few years ago was a bit of a flop, I seem to remember most of the sets being sold off really cheap in the bargin bins. I think a series of 6 or 8 zoo based sets would have been much more desirable. You could have had a main zoo set, circa £70 and then they could have had many add on sets, like a monkey enclosure, and aquarium enclosure, a zoo keeper set with a 4x4 like ranger vehicle A real missed opportunity :-( Fingers crossed either 2nd half 2012 or 2013

  11. this is always one of the biggest challenges with buying any model second hand on ebay, one persons opinion on complete to another can vary greatly, nothing pleases me more when I buy a set from ebay and you get all the original advertising brochures, and the paper that the stickers were originally attached to, it's an added little sign that the set has been looked after, with minimal use, however also with sets which are quite rare, it is a fun challenge to locate and acquire the missing bricks to make the set complete again :-) I've just restored a classic 12v 7735 train for example, which had about a dozen missing bricks.
  12. I too remember seeing a new life jacket mold with one of the 2011 city harbour sets, I assumed it had already been discussed. Maybe it was the male and female minifig on the jetski I saw the new mold on? can't recall now.
  13. And it will be even better when we get the long awaited 1996 revision
  14. wow, Lego city doing Police sets 2 years in a row, the idea bank must be very empty for 2012 :-(
  15. As everyone is saying, the fire and police sets are neither here not there, I don't rate the ambulance, looks very american, the bin lorry looks spot on, very English "Dennis" design, I really like the road work truck, would have been nice if it were towing a trailer which was either a generator/compressor or had a small digger on the trailer, but it can be modified, the Range rover is much like the horse box one from a few years ago, a nice looking set, and the caravan looks ok, but the car pulling it looks a bit n the small side? Most importantly, is that a Dark Green bicycle with the ambulance set? I think thats a new colour?
  16. Correct me if I'm wrong but the USB cable is permanently attached to the mindstorms control tower? Bricklink or ebay are your friend: Buy Me
  17. I'd maybe like to see a big lift or swing bridge, which could be incorporated with the train system? or I'd settle for a remote control forklift, very playable idea that one.
  18. I think it's up there with the mindstorms pinball machine I saw a few years ago, there are only a few Technic / mindstorms creations which seriously wow me and this is one of them... Thanks for deep linking the u tube video, could not work that one out.
  19. I think videos like this just show how amazing Lego is, and what a powerful tool it can be and the talent of the programmer Lego Milling Machine
  20. Do tell, I've done a search on 7996 and I cannot find anyone complaining about it? I have 1 which I have to admit I've not used much, but what is so wrong with it?
  21. I think any flagship set is a fairly safe bet if you are willing to wait long enough, take any of the 80's and 90's flagship sets, MISB, 6399 Airport Shuttle, Technic Air Claw Rig, Technic Shuttle, Technic car, and any of the 12v trains, Whether they are holding their value so well because back in the 80's no one saw an online trading market, so very few people actually purchased them as an investment. I'm sure they will be worth money in the future, but as there will be many more around, it's a good question, I've bought 5 Maesrk trains, 2 for me and 3 to put in the loft for the future, I have a few other MISB sets tucked away, but not many as I like to open sets too much and build them, I just wish I could find some of the 12v sets a little cheaper :-(
  22. 2nd half sets now on UK shop at home (Click for link)
  23. and the UK site as well, a new record price of £132.99, £3 more than the last cargo train :-( and no points
  24. I don't know the answer, but I totally support you and agree that any production part should be available online pick a brick, some MOC require large quantities of parts which are just not available on Bricklink in Europe, certainly not at a reasonable price,
